Magic Now Atop of Chris Paul’s List

The Magic have replaced the Knicks as Chris Paul’s first choice if he can get himself traded out of New Orleans. New York, Portland and Dallas are also still on Paul’s short list. As reported by Chris Broussard: “The Orlando Magic have emerged as the top team on Paul’s list of preferred destinations, replacing the New York Knicks, according to league sources. While the Knicks are still high on Paul’s list, he believes the Magic, with All-Star center Dwight Howard, would be a better fit. Paul also realizes Orlando has much more to offer New Orleans in a trade and therefore believes it is a more realistic destination than New York, according to the sources.”

pretty big DUH. Orlando no1 portland no2 dallas already has a point and new york is on the verge of becoming nyc’s second team

  • http://thekobebeef.wordpress.com LDR4

Paul would certainly disguise Howard’s offensive shortcomings.

  • Vince5

Jameer Nelson is pretty good already, I don’t know how much better they are gonna get, especially since Nelson + others will leave for Paul. Better ? Yes. Much better? I don’t know.

  • WB30

    @Vince5, I agree.

  • Yawn

Nelson isn’t a true PG though. CP3 would help D12′s game tremendously.

I’d love to see it but actually doubt that CP3′s going anywhere.

  • mike

    i agree with VINCE5 and WB30
Nelson killed it in the playoffs, an with the shooters orlando has , we dont really need a GREAT pg to dish to an open guy. What the magic need is to improve the SG , SF spot. And Dwight’s offense.

Well if Orlando’s the case then it’s gotta happen this year and they would have to give up Nelson, VC, and Gortat(i think vc is on the last year of that huge contract aint he)even then, Orlando then has to take Emeka or D-West maybe even posey. which personally scares the ish outta me if It was Dwight,West,Rashard,Pietrus/jj,CP3 as starting 5

Didn’t we go through all this before earlier this month? “It’s gonna be New York, no, Chicago, no, now it looks like he’s staying with Cleveland, no, he’s taking his talents to south beach!” Don’t know about y’all, but I’m not doing this all again. I won’t care where dude might or might not play until he’s actually traded/staying. And if he even think about having a one-hour special on ESPN…..

    The Decision 2.0 ?
Excuse me while I go vomit.

  • total scrotal implosion

No is insisting on shipping meka with him. Funny how they traded tyson for him. I cant see why they would want jameer, they already have darren.

the new rumor is supposed to be vince/gortat for cp3/okafur then a second deal nelson/peaches for iguodala. the magic would downgrade their bench big time

  • MusketeerX

I think CP3 is crazy. He would thrive in a D’Antoni’s offense. 25 and 13 a game. The Knicks don’t need to play D when they can rack up 130 a night.

Still think this is best for the Knicks though if he does go to Orl. If the Knicks did trade the house for CP3 and Okafur, there goes their shot at Melo; and Melo, is going to be much better for their needs.

    Not bad

as a magic fan i dont want to see my team change much. we are pretty good, except i do think dwight needs to be able to shoot better. he seems to need the ball right under the rim to score. i love vince, and gortat is a beast, a starter anywhere else in my opinion. i know CP3 is good, but it will hurt to see either of those guys or jameer go

  • NBA kid

j-nuggz, it’s absolutely worth it to ship out vince. his fg% throughout all of last year (especially the ecf) really hurt the team. and okafor really isn’t much of a downgrade over gortat

Damn it! OK, I can’t lie. I’m just as intrigued as everyone else is about where CP3 will end up. But I won’t watch his hour long ESPN special, damnit!

    this ain’t no decision 2.0.
    chris paul is under contract.
    lebron was not.

Come to Portland.. Rumor is we are offering Dre Miller, Fernandez, Bayless, and maybe a future draft pick.. That would be a steal!! CP3+injury free roster=WCF (or title)

  • NBA kid

    dma, where’d you hear that?

  • T-Money

What I dont get is… why should NO care about his wish list? Why should they even care about his trade request?

  • D12FSU

i love nelson, but if you have a chance to get cp3..you take it. Until something actually happens, I’ll be dreaming of a D12 CP3 pick in roll with Lewis and Q in the corners, and JJ finding the open space around the perimeter…that will be unstoppable

  • roybot

Portland has more to offer in terms of young talent to NO. When NO coach Monty Williams was an assistant coach for Blazers he personally worked with Batum a lot, so I’m willing to bet Monty himself will vouch for trading CP3 to Portland so he can bring his pride Batum to NO.

  • bnets

CP3 is not going to want to wait till december or january to get traded to da knicks. Magic is da best choice for CP and New Orleans

  • Ronald

CP3 wouldn’t miss all those easy alley-oop opportunities with Dwight that Jameer doesn’t see.

  • BostonBaller

Why would NO do this? When a player gets traded they do everything they can to destroy their former team when they play them so when a player demands a trade the team in turn should not send him where he wants to go unless the player deals with them with dignity and class. Business is business and since ownership can’t play in the games to get revenge they have to get it up front. lol. This non issue has become a huge issue which might sway NO to trade Paul instead of holding their ground. If Paul gets this trade thru demand with time left on his contract it may start/revitalize a trend that will not be pretty for the L.

I really, really hope he ends up in Portland. That team could contend right away, and will only get better with time. Paul and B-Roy back-court would be best in the League.

T-MONEY :: The thing you got to remember is. When this guy is an unrestricted free agent, he can do what Wade, Bosh and LeBron have done. Just go to which ever team they want for how ever much $$$ they want and their old team gets nothing out of it. Sure the Hornets could wait for then, but would Chris Paul really play 110% for this ball club knowing he is outta there next season? It’s alot like the Stoudemire situation there… Atleast with them knowing now that he wants to go, they can trade him and get something in return.

The magic don’t need another PG. They need a PF. If they got a power, Lewis could slide down to the 3 and then Lewis wouldn’t be sucha liability when they play the Lakers or Celtics. KG and Pau are a major reason why the Magic can’t win it.

  • ConeyIslander

CP3 would make DHoward look like a GOD out there!

magic need sum more pure scorers not a pg, they already got nelson. nelson has proved his game and has the pg spot on lock.
