Michael Jordan Halting Bobcats/Raptors Trade?

MJ is reportedly having second thoughts about the multi-player trade between Toronto and Charlotte. From Yahoo!: “Right now, Michael is having second thoughts,’ a source with knowledge of the talks told Yahoo! Sports. The Bobcats had agreed to trade center Tyson Chandler and forward Boris Diaw to the Raptors for guard Jose Calderon and forward Reggie Evans. Players had been contacted earlier in the day and told they were traded. Yet now, everyone has been put into a holding pattern. Jordan, sources said, has been hesitant to trade Chandler. The trade isn’t dead, the sources said, but the two sides will talk again on Tuesday morning and the Raptors will try to push the deal through to completion.”

Diaw is a quality player can play at the both ends, surprised to him been traded for 2 no names frm T-Dot. MJ better has 2nd thought on that move!

They need a PG since they lost Felton but after last years performance is Calderon really the right guy? Two years ago I could have said yes.

Fine, take Chanlder out. He’s nothing without CP3. Just give us Diaw; we’ll keep Wedgie. We could still use the toughness.

MJ you better not stop this trade…

One small detail is Chandler has an expiring 12 million dollar contract that might be really attractive around the trade deadline for teams looking to slash payroll. MJ knows this and realizes he might get better than Calderon (who is marginally OK ) and Reggie Evan (muscle can be found for cheaper elsewhere).

Please veto this trade, please please please.Reggie Evans is a nice guy but he’s a bum and as for Jose Calderon, I think he’s done with the prime of his career now.

Personally, I’d rather keep Jose because he is a quality offensive minded point guard who can create and hit the open jump shot, check the percentages…Charlotte lost Felton and there’s nothing else coming your way, he’s a good fit for Charlotte because Calderon’s one liability is his limited defensive skills but Charlotte can flat out play Defense…either way, the raps have a solid young core in Bargnani who would move to the 4 if the trade happens, Derozan, Weems, Johnson who are all 25 or younger

calderon is good but giving up chandler and diaw is a bit much! good move MJ

  • WangChung Posted: Jul.13 at 3:37 pm
    GOAT knows the score.

  • JD Posted: Jul.13 at 4:29 pm
The one time he does something productive 4 the Bobcats he changes his mind

  • tomtom Posted: Jul.13 at 6:05 pm
@hobbes No names? Jose Calderon is one of the best PGs in the league. Not statistically, but anybody who knows basketball knows that. Tyson is nothing without cp3.

  • ClydeSays Posted: Jul.13 at 9:51 pm
Doesn’t MJ have a GM to figure this out? The GOAT doesn’t have the best track record with personnel….

Funny the crowd is split between Jordan haters (Raptors fans) and everyone else. I’m just hoping the Raps find a way to make it work with Jose, call me sentimental…

Im a Raptor Fan and a Jordan fan, but Calderon has got to go, hes defensive liability, Backcourts around the league see him and think ima get mine today, the raptors are bad on D but hes worse , i wanted Chandler I thought it could work with the faster style and a PG like Jarret Jack, but I don’t Blame MJ for not taking the trade Evans is nice but only defense no offensive, hes a slower stronger ben wallace with a better free throw percentage and calderon who mentioned, for Tyson , although injury plagued is better offensive and defensive vs. evans, Diaw hes meh. its an upgrade to Calderon far as Im concerned
