Orlando Magic to Sign Chris Duhon

Goodbye New York; hello, Orlando. Duhon is off to Florida, reports ESPN: “Free agent point guard Chris Duhon agreed to a four year, $15 million dollar contract with the Orlando Magic, his agent, Kevin Bradbury, told ESPN.com. The 27-year-old Duhon was the starting point guard for the New York Knicks the last two seasons. He averaged 7.4 ppg and 5.6 apg last season for the Knicks. The Magic currently only had one point guard, Jameer Nelson, on the roster.”

Wow! Orlando just landed the biggest steal in free agency! Duhon has proven throughout his career that he can warm a bench better than most and with the way SVG manages his bench he is always in the market for nice warm seats! Great job guys! You are going back to the finals for sure!

Duhon is better than Blake. Blake got more money. That about sums up free agency in my book.

Story reads- Magic currently only have 1 pg. Did Jason Williams retire again? Last ish slams story on Williams was a little disappointing. He seems to be an interview dodger. And wont be remembered for “chips” unless he starts working for frito lay..

Eboy is a fa. Looks like orl doesnt want him. Is he retiring again?

  • rainman10

Jason Williams won’t retire. He will end up with a contender again.

  • ccantrell

hmm.. good sign but what happened to jason williams? duhon is not as good as williams

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

Duhon reminded me a little of Charlie Ward.. Anyone else?? Not great at any 1 area of the game, but solid..

BEST NEWS IVE HEARD IN A WHILE BESIDES AMARE! GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH!

  • Groves

Why not Jason Williams?. im a magic fan, but duhon is useless

  • Chris

As a Knicks fan, all I have to say is:

    HAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Duhon shot 17% for about 2 months in the beginning this year.

If I was Dwight Howard, I would refuse to play just on principle. They just wasted a good portion of their Mid-Level Exception.

I like Duhon. I cheered him on the Knicks. He has a great head on his shoulders and really knows the game of basketball. Unfortunately, he was not blessed with the degree of talent required of an NBA professional.

I wish him the best of luck, and say congratulations on one heck of a contract. 15 million dollars to sit on the bench for the next four years!!! Wish it was me.

I’ve had to sit through 3 years of Blake in Portland and I’ve hated him every second. So yes, Duhon is better than Blake.

  • Ronald

Good signing for Orlando. Jameer is a good scoring PG but is a bit of a defensive liability due to his height. (Also makes him miss easy lobs to Dwight). So, Duhon can come in and focus on passing instead of scoring.

Co sign DMA.. lifelong Blazer fan and always try to support whomever we brought in, just never was feelin’ Blake.. Or Stoudamire after about a year or two.. When I first signed on this morning I had all of your info(DMA) on my screen, wonder if its a regional thing? Obviously didnt post under your s/n..

  • Lazarus

@dma n bossterry. wow really? im a diehard blazer fan n thought blake filled his role to the que consistently. what else would you want? i was angry when we traded outlaw n blake for camby.

  • Jake

Duhon is actually a pretty solid pg excluding last year. I wonder if Jay Williams is still trying to get burn on an NBA team or did he head overseas?

  • hoodsnake

He will flourish in this offense but wheres the love for JJ Redick? Orlando not offering him MLE?

  • http://twincityslim@yahoo.com Jahi

The Chris Duhon signing was a coup. He a pure point guard. On the other hand, I always felt that Rafer Alston didn’t receive his proper due for leading the Magic to the 2009 NBA Finals. In fact, all during the 2009 playoffs, Jameer Nelson was a liability. Van Gundy doesn’t know how to manage a team if you ask me, he is a hothead. Still, this was a good move, since Howard didn’t want to add Arenas to the team.

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

@laz.. yeah I hated to see Outlaw go. and still kinda hope they bring him back.. I think the last p.g. we had that I really liked was Rod Strickland. (was stoked and hopeful when we drafted Telfair only to be disappointed).

  • j-nuggz

rafer was traded not cut, they got vince for him. even though vince didnt get us there this year its good to have a local star on the team. jameer wasnt a liability throughout the 09 playoffs, just the finals, he was hurt the rest of the rounds and shouldve stayed out against LA. if you look back, a few games were close, we were a courtney lee layup away from leading the finals. duhons ok, but we need to keep up with these new super teams
