Polladaday: Miami Cheat?

Following an introductory press conference, the talk of the weekend was whether league owners would file tampering charges against the Miami Heat regarding the nature of their acquisition of LeBron James and Chris Bosh. So, did they or didn’t they?

Did the Miami Heat violate league rules?

if the gasol trade was ok, this is ok, too! FREE-Agents….

  • tom

    EXACTLY!!

  • ATN

So for all the amazing games and heart put in to the many games you doubt the 7-10 each played with questionable heart, because they said they wanted to play together for years. C’mon. You bust your @$$ for 80+ games a year holding your team on your back…you will be tired at the end of the year if not physically…mentally.

  • Chris

Short memories anyone? Think back to the playoffs, one incident….
Remember the fine handed out to Mark Cuban et al for ‘tampering’ with another teams player? It makes a mockery of that, as if Cuban was putting ‘ideas’ into a players head.
So Lebron didn’t announce it in public, big deal, he let it slip the other night.
They should give Cuban a refund.

  • http://slamonline.com Fut,

As long as its not the clubs themselves openly wooing other players under contract, its all good. Its the players own lives, being a free agent is the only freedom of choice you get in the business side of the L; let them have it how they want.

Now SLAM’s crying too? Jes*s Ch*ist. I would think you guys would be suckling at the teat of the Heat like you’ve gone out of your way jerking off the Lakers for the last 3 seasons to sell more issues (which you will) and gather more web traffic (which, again, once the season starts, you will)so what’s up? Ridiculous.

Larry, free agency, trade, two completely different situations,, I agree with Chris, Cuban should should a refund,, they had this planned and making money out of reality tv,, big let down by them three.

………….exactly what rule does this violate??????

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

FREE agent. FREE. FREE! What does that mean in America? Free. Someone should post the definition. FREE.

  • lou

Eboy if you don’t know you should learn a bit more rules and regulations, and the reason behind Cuban got fined

  • ConeyIslander

@ LarryLegend, no rainbow, but i could kiss you on the mouth for that! That trade was BULL$H#T! lol

Whatever the case may be, the past few weeks were an act and those three had their minds made up a while ago. Wade and bosh agree to join forces in Miami without having ANY contract details sorted out… Come on.

  • http://minusthebars.blogspot.com Don

Add me to the list who says that if the bogus Gasol trade wasn’t questioned then why question LeBron’s FREE AGENT signing?

  • Clay

@ConeyIslander: Are you referring to the Pau Gasol trade? The Grizzlies received multiple first round draft picks from it and earned themselves a decent, young starting center.

  • Yesse

Don, because Cleveland is going bankrupt and the LeBron story just covers it. There is alot of everything else on the line too. Now i don’t really know too much about that, but i some news about it. Anyways i don’t think it was cheating, or then there is something i didn’t notice.

  • larrylegend

@lou: this was more than fishy, and we both know it. i know the difference, don’t worry.
long live the TrEboys (no, i am not on the bandwagon yet lol)

Taking a hot topic and putting it to a vote amongst the people isnt crying. Its called gathering a consensus. CONSENSUS. Should I post the definition of that too?

  • http://www.slamonline.com Myles Brown

    Con-sen-sus: –noun, plural -sus·es.
    1. majority of opinion: “The consensus of the group was that they should meet twice a month.”

Didn’t violate any standing rules. If it did, rest assured Stern-bot would be handing down fines, since he seemed to do that to any owner/front-office type who mentioned a FA’s name. Does make Lebron’s last couple of seemingly disinterested playoff games look a little more fishy, though. And it definitely should agitate the teams that were pulled into an unnecessary dog-and-pony show at Lebron’s whim. The funny thing about this whole thing is how everyone is saying how great it is that the players made the choice, not management, and how liberating that is. If this was the NFL, with non-guaranteed contracts, in a system that the owners basically run the ship, it’d be one thing. But in a land of guaranteed contracts where the individual is often more important, and more secure than the team, well, this just fits in with the NBA’s image. It’s a league that favors the select few in referee calls, team structure and financial standing. The real sad thing is that we are somewhat blinded to how good these guys really are/aren’t. If you’re supposed to be the best at your profession, do you need to get the benefit of the doubt the majority of the time on calls? If you’re supposed to be the best at your profession, do you need to team up with other great players, thus creating an even larger imbalance in the competitive scale? The bottom line after this whole song-and-dance hasn’t changed: David Stern’s NBA is a superstar league, that caters to its extremely wealthy, and talented, elite at every turn, sometimes to the determent of the good of the entire league and/or franchise(s). I guess in that way, one could really argue that the NBA really should be considered America’s game.

What rule does this violate anyways???

  • GO BROWNS!

Hey, they beat the system…now watch more of these fools take less money to get rings…the NBA blows…

I’ve been giving some thought to the new “three”‘s nickname and I’ve come to some conclusions. think it’s got to be spanish and it’s got to involve the number three…be this as it may, I consulted a spanish rhyming dictionary and came up with the following, all of which rhyme when pronounced correctly.
Three Gods – Tres Dioses (Puke me)
The Weak Three – Tres Debiles
    Three Cowards – Tres Cobardes
    and my personal favorite…
    Three Jackals – Tres Chacales

    Thoughts?
