Raptors Willing to Trade Chris Bosh to Cleveland?

ESPN has sources claiming Toronto is ready to pull the trigger on a big trade, and LeBron James is actively involved in the recruiting process. Hmm: “Everything is set for Chris Bosh to join LeBron James in Cleveland. Everything, that is, except Bosh’s approval. The Toronto Raptors have told the Cleveland Cavaliers they will do a sign-and-trade with them for Bosh, according to several league sources. The exact details of the potential trade have not been solidified, but Toronto likely would get Anderson Varejao and/or J.J. Hickson, Delonte West and perhaps Anthony Parker. A draft pick could be involved as well. Both James and Bosh are aware that such a trade is possible, and James has tried to recruit Bosh to the Cavaliers several times in the past few weeks, according to sources. But right now, Bosh remains cold to the idea of playing in Cleveland.”

This about seals the deal as far as Lebron staying home. I don’t see him leaving, even if Bosh goes elsewhere. From all accounts, Lebron does not want to leave Cleveland. Since all the meetings finished, I have yet to read a reliable accounting of him wanting anything other than to stay home. Sorry Knicks, Nets and (sigh) Bulls fans.

  • The D Train

Also: is the Mike Miller Consolation Prize equal to the Ron Mercer Consolation Prize for Bulls fans?

  • http://www.twitter.com/TheDiesel Anton

    Told y’all fools.

  • Fat Lever

How funny would it be if the Bulls are the team that walks away with nothing? Yet they are the team that has the best pieces in place for a superstar to swoop right in. I hope Chicago has a contingency plan.

  • http://theurbangriot.com The Nupe

It’s clear the Cavs are trying to do everything they can to keep Bron and put a good team around him. If Bosh agrees to this, the Cavs may try to keep Shaq since it’s been reported Bosh’s biggest issue about going to Cleveland is that he doesn’t want to play center.

  • http://www.twitter.com/TheDiesel Anton

Criticize Danny Ferry all you want, talk about how he never had a “vision for the future” but Ferry made sure we had at least some type of flexibility/assets every year possible because of how bare Jim Paxson left the cupboard. Thanks to Ferry’s shrewd negotiating in player contracts, and smart drafting of a guy like Hickson at 19, we now are legitimately talking about adding Chris Bosh to the Cavaliers in a sign and f*cking trade. If it was Jim Paxson, we’d be trying to peddle Jiri Welsch and Luke Jackson to the Raptors to no avail.

  • vuk

bosh is a lil bi*ch, all stars dont play a position, they play whatever their team need for them to play … tim duncan is a power forward but hes spent much of his time playing center, kobe lebron, etc all play multiple positions depenmding on what their team needs from them … playing center or PF makes no difference since it all depends on the sceme of the coach … big Z was a center but he spent plenty of time on the perimiter and taking 15-18 foot jumpers …. stop whining bosh, ur not as good as you think

  • http://www.slamonline.com jumpman3224

I don’t understand how a trade with Cleveland is anymore enticing than Houston (potential pieces include – Ariza, Patterson, reigning MIP Brooks, Battier etc.)

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

Toronto is taking back srubs for Bosh and the picks would not be worth anything. Houston is the better trade and Dallas. Toronto is trying to be funny, because without some of those pieces the Cavs still would get knocked out the playoffs again. BOOK IT!!!

  • The D Train

Well, Fat Lever, as a Bulls fan it wouldn’t be the least bit funny to see the Bulls holding the proverbial bag of dookie. As I alluded to earlier, though, Bulls fans know this feeling all to well after the T-Mac / Duncan FA derby a spell ago. The thing that really makes this one hurt, is that Lebron has been mentioned for mos to be either 1A or 1B to Cleveland. And the 2nd Wade meeting this weekend obviously raised hopes that he’d come home to be closer to his kids. At the end of the day, the fact that we have Rose and Noah might end up meaning nothing. But I can’t blame cats for not wanting to take a $20-$30 million dollar hit to sign with the Bulls.

  • C-Lo_The_Great

dont get your hopes up yet cavs fans it has been stated bosh wants to go to a big city so he might not go there it would be an interesting squad to say the least and @Anton its JOHN paxson not JIM

  • Migs

Could this also be a ploy to try to push Chicago to stop trying to unload Deng to the Raps and send Noah for Bosh instead? Once Chicago secures Bosh, it’ll be much easier to sign Wade.

  • Overtime

Jiri Welsch…wow, thats a name from a while back huh?
I dont think this really helps either of them. The Cavs will swap Lebron and various helpful pieces for Lebron, Bosh and very little helpful pieces.
And I agree…why not Houston for Bosh? Only thing I can think of…its the West

  • Overtime

And I think it would be absolutely BRILLIANT if Lebron stayed in Cleveland. Not only would I find it hilarious after all this, but I would actually respect the decision abit more

  • The D Train

All of Bosh’s “centerpiece” talk sure rings hollow now, doesn’t it?

  • k

It would be a trip if Chicago didn’t get any of the superstars out of this class, BUT — honestly, if they keep what they have, and just go get, like, Josh Howard and David Lee for what could amount to a total of just barely over what one max guy would cost, and fill out the depth chart with, say, Steve Blake and some multiple-position bargain types like Ian Mahinmi, Ronnie Brewer Anthony Morrow (I think the last two are restricted), I don’t think it’s out of the question that they could swing and miss on the biggest free agent class ever and still end up with home court in the first round.

  • http://theurbangriot.com The Nupe

No deals are done. IF this happens then Wade looks a lot more likely to end up in Chicago. Unless Miami picks of Boozer as their third option. Then they still have plenty of money to sign a few other very good players like maybe haywood. If this deal keeps LeBron in Cleveland and the ‘only’ FA NY get’s is Amare, then do they hope for Camello next year (if Carmello doesn’t sign and extension)? With Evan Turner in NJ, I think they’ll be a much improved team from last year, Chicago is still strong with Noah/Rose, so it could be that the Knicks are really the only team that doesn’t really get better next year (even with Amare).

  • http://www.slamonline.com wayno

lol so get rid of the pips and bring in another star? how is that supposed to be a ensemble again??

  • Scottie Pimpin

they trying to shut us out. damn fools !

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/Uncle05Sam Earl

Bosh won’t go there and win a championship with Bron because he wants to be “the man” and make more money, although I kind of hope he does.

  • Yesse

This might make LeBron stay, although i would have found Bosh and Wade in Heat way more cool. It would be funny if Shaq stayed in Cleveland too with Bosh in there

  • http://twitter.com/HarryByrdMan44 LA Huey

@C-Lo, actually, it is JIM Paxson. JOHN is the GM of the Bulls.

  • Elias

They can’t do this just because it would be boring and 2010 free agency has been so hyped, that they just can’t do this. It would be much more exciting to see Chicago and New York become contenders.

  • http://twitter.com/HarryByrdMan44 LA Huey

And imma have to co-sign the idea that this is just a smokescreen to force the Bulls to give up Noah or Houston to prepare to sweeten their deal.

  • Chris

if Bosh doesn’t come to Cleveland, I think Lebron goes elsewhere.

This seems to be what is happening. Lebron told his organization, get me some players and I’ll stay. The Cavs are trying to do just that, but Bosh is gumming up the works!

Without him, James can’t compete against Wade and Bosh. He will need to leave.

  • Chris

Sorry meant, Wade and Amare’ or Wade and Bosh should Bosh go to play in Miami.

  • T-Money

Bosh and Bron really seem like a package deal. Obviously, Bron stays if he can get Bosh in Cleveland. They would need a servicable center if Varejao, Moon and West go the other way. Apparently, the Cavs have been talking to Brendan Haywood. / D-Rose is nice but not that nice. I don’t think he can be the best player on a championship team. Chicago will need to get a big time player if not this year, then next year.

  • Kap

Chris Broussard aka Lebrons jock strap is reporting this so It doesn’t have much credibility in my opinion

  • Overtime

@ The Nupe…Evan Turner is in Philly…not NJ

  • http://twitter.com/HarryByrdMan44 LA Huey

@T-Money, Moon is involved too? And Parker is part of the package as well, that’ll be quite a somber return.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

WHO CARES WHAT TORONTO IS WILLING TO DO????
Bosh doesn’t want to play in Cleveland. NO NBA player, especially the big time ones want to play in Cleveland. The fact the LBJ is from Cleveland is lucky, if he wasn’t he wouldn’t even consider the Cavs.

  • http://www.clownpenis.com Tarzan Cooper

U think so? U think clevelands cool? I never heard anybody say they were going on vacation to cleveland

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

There is not 1 logical reason (if LeBron really cares more about winning then anything else) for him to stay in Cleveland. End of STory.

  • T-Money

Glad to know that nbk is tight with all NBA players.

  • Jake

Cleveland isn’t pretty that’s for sure.I was just there in May and it wasn’t very nice.I don’t know what LeBron and Bosh are thinking at this point.Go to Chicago or Miami.I’d like to see them in Chicago just because it would revive the Bulls glory days and a Chicago Wade jersey would be sick but….you can’t really rival life on South Beach and a night life unlike any other in the U.S.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

    From Jared Dudley -

All star free agents want to go to a major city..Bron can win in Cleveland but not 4 or 6 rings.. The league is different from 20 yrs ago

@JaredDudley619 Why not just Stay home and bring a few key players in for LBJ( no big time all star wants to go to Cleveland)

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Plus its Cleveland Ohio Vs Millionaire Athletes who are in their 20′s. Unless your Legally Retarded. or just a flat out idiot you realize thats not the place for people in that type of a situation.

  • ccantrell

ok but if they get bosh then what happens to antwan jamison?

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

If you think he CAN win MULTIPLE titles in Cleveland I ask you to first examine how many teams since 1980 have won an NBA title. Look at the cities those teams reside. I don’t really care, go back as far as the NBA can, see how many small market teams have won an NBA title in league history. Its laughable

  • http://slamonline.com AlbertBarr

@nbk: How do you explain San Antonio?

  • a_whiteman

@vuk…bosh played center his 2nd and most of hid 3rd season, did a decent job but he and everyone else knows he’s a 4…and if they did get bosh I would hope byron would slide twan to the 3 where he starte his career and was successful.

  • ccantrell

but hes not near as effective as a small forward

  • http://theurbangriot.com The Nupe

^ i agree, and move Bron to the 2.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

uhm first and foremost its San Antonio Texas. Its not Cleveland Ohio, the population and market is a lot bigger in San Antonio.
second – what major free agent has ever gone to san antonio?????NONE
third – Their championships come from the draft, (David Robinson and Tim Duncan both #1 Overall Picks)
last – are you seriously going to compare cleveland (a team built off of a lucky lottery and countless trades) to San Antonio (the premiere franchise/front office in the whole league) and act like your comparing red apples to green apples?

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

    Silence is golden.

  • http://twitter.com/HarryByrdMan44 LA Huey

@AlbertBarr, everyone who talks about small market disadvantages and league conspiracy theories conveniently forgets about the Spurs.

  • ccantrell

cant see bron at the 2.. he likes rebounding bro

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

SAN ANTONIO is the 7th biggest city in the COUNTRY

  • ccantrell

and hes not movin to he 2 after playing 7 years at the 3.. jus not goin to happen

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

There really is no difference between LeBron at the 2 and 3 people. Its a wing. The NBA is 1 Point 2 wings and 2 forwards. Thats how the positions work. The problem is Antawn Jamison can’t guard good wings or forwards. thats the problem
