Samardo Samuels, Eyenga Near Deal with Cavs

The Cavs have offered the 2008 SLAM All-American a multi-year deal with the first year partially guaranteed. From Brian Windhorst: “Cavs have agreed in principle with rookie free agent power forward Samardo Samuels on a multi-year deal, agent David Bauman confirms.”

In related news, Cleveland may soon offer a two-year contract to Christian Eyenga, their first-round choice in the 2009 Draft. The 21-year-old pogo stick spent last season with DKV Joventut, and impressed coach Byron Scott in summer league.

The Cavs are going to be “team potential” next season. A bunch of young and athletic guys with a bunch of untapped upside. In B-Scotts up-tempo offense they should be fun to watch. And if some of this potential is realized, they could be a 7th seed.

Anyone can be a 7th seed in the east. The conference is that bad. they won’t even have to hit .500.

This is kinda off topic, but In the newest issue of slam (I always read trash talk first) It seems every couple of issues there is somebody complaining about some bad language here and there.. Im glad to see that slam basically said- ‘Sorry, if u want kid-friendly reading, get a different mag ‘… Slam has always been a in your face mag with a lot of hip hop referances.. As much as the mag has changed since issue#1, thank you for staying with what got u here today, and not changing your writting style..

    Very off-topic, but thanks, Boss.

The cavaliers actually have potential to win a championship this year. With a lot of hard work and no injuries. And with the emergence of jj hickson they will be hoisting up that NBDL championship sooner than you think

to the guy saying the east is a bad conference and a team can get the 7th seed without being .500…this isn’t 2007. There was one team in the playoffs last yr for the east that wasn’t above .500. And that was the 41-41 Chicago Bulls. And it seems they have gotten a bit better. And the 5th seed went to the finals. Sounds like a deep playoff picture for the east. I don’t think the Cavs will be there.

im gonna be so happy if we could get that 7th seed with the “now east”.. atm were the worst team in the league!

I like the idea that Samardo Samuels will get to prove himself. He needed another year in school, but his fam needed the money. He sure didn’t get any help from rick Pitino–he tried to hurt him any way e could I wish Samardo the very best!
