Tracy McGrady To The Bulls?

Marc Stein’s sources it could be close to a done deal: “The Bulls are prepared to sign Tracy McGrady if he proves to be sufficiently healthy in a workout Monday and can convince the team he is willing to accept a bench role, one source familiar with Chicago’s thinking said Sunday. ”Nothing is done until it’s done, but I expect the Bulls to sign McGrady later this week,” the source said. Another unknown is what kind of contract McGrady can command from the Bulls. But McGrady has said money and years are not priorities after earning nearly $23 million last season with Houston and New York… McGrady, 31, would be Chicago’s sixth acquisition this offseason, joining Carlos Boozer, Kyle Korver, Ronnie Brewer, C.J. Watson and Kurt Thomas.”

Additionally, on Saturday McGrady was asked by a fan named Ralph about the chances of him signing with the Bulls. Tmac’s response?

Tracy McGrady.

If Chicago signs McGrady, are they legit contenders. If they don’t sign him, are they still legit?

Wow. Saying he prefers to start is a far cry from when he tweeted he’d be willing to play “whatever role they need me to play.” I would love dude as a 6th or 7th man IF he embraced that role. Not sure if I see that happening though.

I definately don’t see the guy coming off the bench, I figure he can take the starting job from Brewer because, in my opinion, TMac at 50 percent is better than Brewer, thats just me.

Either way they are going to be one of the best teams in the East and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. We all know TMac can still do “Tmac” esque type plays so as long as he stays healthy, he could bring some nice scoring and leadership to the team.

The Bulls are going to be insane next year, T-Mac will prove a lotta people wrong, he got his explosiveness back now and has healed his body since he left New York, he will eventually take the starting spot from Brewer average 18 ppg and be an all-star.

Man, people forget, but pre-Lebron there was a smattering of “whose better, Kobe or T-Mac” discussions going on. Of course, T-Mac never getting out of the first round kind of killed the argument before it even could really start, but he was straight sick-o nonetheless. I always though McGrady was Scottie Pippen v. 2.0. Unfortunately v. 2.0 included software that apparently included reoccurring injuries, a lack of defensive intensity even remotely approaching the original version, and a general disinterest in busting ones ass. So while the newer version may have looked more aesthetically pleasing at times, it fell fall, fall short of the original, unfortunately. Unfulfilled potential, thy name is Tracy McGrady.

I’m tellin yall, I wouldn’t be shocked if he comes back healthy next year and owns some kids. D Train is right, in my opinion, McGrady in his prime was a slightly better player than Kobe, Maybe not defensively, but offensively, oh yes. No doubt in my mind. I think some GM’s are gonna be sick for passing on him. Wait and see.

If McGrady returns to his former self or at least 70% of what he was in his glory days, to average 20ppg or even 17ppg, we will be seeing Miami in the Eastern Conference finals. Boozer, Rose plus sorta old McGrady = ECF
