Trade: Chandler to Mavs; Dampier to Cats

Michael Jordan might change his mind first, but the deal should be finalized soon. From Adrian Wojnarowski:”The Charlotte Bobcats have traded center Tyson Chandler and Alex Ajinca to the Dallas Mavericks for Erick Dampier, Matt Carroll and Eduardo Najera, a league source tells Yahoo! Sports. A proposed trade between the Bobcats and Toronto Raptors is officially dead. The Bobcats had earlier agreed to trade Chandler and forward Boris Diaw to the Raptors for guard Jose Calderon and forward Reggie Evans.”

Wow BC must be super pissed off right now

  • http://thekobebeef.wordpress.com LDR4

Roddy B with the alley, Chandler with the oop! I like this, it bolsters the 2nd unit and dumps some junk contracts.

  • CARTEL

I knew it had to be a better deal out there if he was hesitant at the last minute…

  • http://www.clownpenis.com Tarzan Cooper

Matt carroll returns!!! Good trade for both teams. Mavs have center position set now. Wait, why would charlotte want damp? Maybe jordan thinks he can become the next kwame brown

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

Chandler will give the Mavs some much needed toughness.. Kinda been a soft team the past few years.. Have not had a “tough guy” since Shawn Bradley…

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ niQ

wTF. Are you serious?! First he’s kills a trade cause it involves Chandler then he trades him away? Wow.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ niQ

@Tarzan: The Bobcats are likely to waive Dampier and his non-guaranteed $13.1 million contract for the 2010-’11 season, league sources said.

Damp bringing his talents to South Beach?

  • Raeniel

Wow, I knew the deal was too good to be true. Raptors were on the winning end of the deal. Bobcats get financial flexibility and now the Mavs have competition at the five spot. However,
    Haywood > Chandler.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Damp has a non-guaranteed contract, so that’s a cost savings immediately.
Plus, anybody who thinks Chandler is “tough” will be very sad soon.
And Matt Carroll brings some decent offense, and Najera can occasionally hustle when he’s not jacking those horrible threes George Karl encouraged.

    what a blockbuster

  • downtownbrownclown

this trade is gonna change the landscape of the NBA… hahahahahahaha!

  • JD

Has MJ lost his mind he was about to make a good trade(4 him)and then pulled out and gave away the player he was hessistant to trade for Jose Calderon and instead got Erick Dampier!

  • vtrobot

Damp, talents? Chandler, tough? People are posting insane comments.

  • vanillagorrila

Yeah its more like chandler, nice backup that can still make it down the floor without almost passing out a la dampier. Ty was never a good fit and with all those big men char was just performing a routine salary dump.

  • http://aspov.blogspot.com Cheryl

    tongue-in-cheek, vtrobot, tongue-in-cheek…

  • olddirtyphil

are the bobcats gonna release dampier before he’s contract becomes guaranteed?

  • c_cantrell

absolutely not a good trade for NOW.. however when they waive damp and gain some cap n use it to get a solid player or two we might praise mj

  • LA Huey

    Mavs sure love to run-in-place.

  • http://www.clownpenis.com Tarzan Cooper

Niq has league sources and vdrobot is dense

  • http://www.lacuevacrosscountry.com Slick Nick Da Ruler

Cheryl, think Damp will agree to a 3 year vet minimum deal when he can go to Boston for Rasheed’s empty cap space?

  • Cam Jones

Its all about cutting Damps non guanteed contract and preparing to restructure to a more cap friendly number without losing much talent. This way during the next free agency bonanza while dropping the dead weight. Plus with Charlotte’s small market they had to come up with some money to pay the raise to Tyrus Thomas.

  • http://theurbangriot.com The Nupe

I don’t like how MJ did this. Apparently he was o.k. with the previous trade to the point that they informed players and then he changes his midn and does this trade. I don’t think this trade is a worse deal than the previously announced one, just wish he was more decisive about his decisions. I guess he’s still new to the role and when you’re signing checks you take multiple looks at things, so I get it. I still just don’t like it went down after notifying the players from the ‘orignial’ deal.

  • http://RickyRude@hotmail.com RickyRude

I agree with The Nupe. You have to feel sorry for Calderon and Reggie Evans. Very unprofessional move on MJ’s part. I can imagine how Bryan Colangelo feels.

  • jake

Great trade for both teams.I would have been boiling if the cats got Jose he sucks now

  • JTaylor21

BossTerry that was some funny sh*t. bud light joke of the day- shoutouts foxxhole.

  • http://thekobebeef.wordpress.com LDR4

Larry Brown was the one who didn’t like the trade with the Raptors. MJ defers to Brown 90% of the time. That’s why he pulled the plug. Larry is very picky about his players.

    wtf dammit Michael!

  • Stillballin

Michael will soon sign Dennis rodman..

  • andre anglais

Who starts at point for the Mike Cats? I hear Steve Kerr is looking for a job…

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

IM SORRY BETCATS but Micheal Jordan IS ONLY BETTER THAN KAHN RIGHT NOW…HOW CAN YOU TAKE THAT MUCH MONEY from 2 scrubs like carrol and Nejera?!!???

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

We just got 13 million dollars of cap space, an expiring contract that happens to be an LB type player, and our long lost overpaid fan favorite. Overall i like this trade.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

We are now rumored to be trading the Dampier contract for RAMON SESSIONS and some change. Anyone who knows me knows how i feel about Sessions (on the wagon b4 their was a wagon) and if we get him i will ________ my _______ so ______ that they will make the day a national day of ____________ing. Fill in the blanks, kiddies.

  • http://www.clownpenis.com Tarzan Cooper

Big win if they get sessions, who has been riding the pine pointlessly

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

look Cats YOU DID NOT GET 13 MIL IN CAP cause those 2 scrubs are owned 17MIL THE NEXT 2 YEARS..getting Sessions is good BUT CHANDLER EXPIRING should NOT GET YOU 2 HORRIBLE USELESS OVERPAYD PLAYERS!

  • http://www.slamonline melvin ely

@BET: you will shag your goats so vigorously?

  • Shem

Being a Raps fan, I was exstatic to finally have a force around the rim coming to Toronto and Bargnani moving down to his natural position at PF. Of course, MJ vetos the trade. He primarily said it was because Chandler was in the deal and then he just trades him away for a couple of bums. Najera and Carroll will never step foot on the court on a winning team. Damp is an average Center at best. Chandler> Damp. Plus Reggie Evans had an expiring contract so they would have saved a lot of money. Calderon would be a great back up in Charlotte. I just think MJ needs to stick to playing basketball rather than managing it.

  • http://Www.lkz.cn Darksaber

*tears, f*cking tears, streaming down my face*. THIS is what Donnie came up with in his two weeks in the so called war room? A fragile, gangly, non offensive game posessing screamer? Meanwhile, Spurs get Tiago Splitter (trust me, son got game) and Utah’s vying for big AL. Gasol and Bynum are only gonna get better and even the damn Clippers have a nice nucleus in Kaman/Griffin. Meanwhile, Mavs still have no low post threat, iffy rebounding and undersized/overrated shooting guards. I think i’m going to puke! Dirk, see what taking 16 MILLION less gets you? Tyson Chandler.

  • http://dgcoursereview.com Bro D.

Hooray, the Bobcats made a trade so that they can make more trades. Seriously, MJ wheels and deals more than I do on Bball video games.

  • JoeMaMa

Michael Jordan is a prick. I hate him almost as much as Tiger Woods’ wife. CAN WE AT LEAST STILL GET DIAW?!?!

  • ab_40

Damp is gonna get released and hopefully sign with denver

  • http://jayemmbee.blogspot.com/ ClutchPerformer

Im a Raps fan and do not blame him for not taking Calderon, he got a better value for getting Dampier Vs. Jose.

  • Lord Beezy214

This trade is a “kanye shrug” to me. We(the Mavs) actually didnt lose or gain anything out this trade besides giving up Erica Damiper finally. Tyson can be a good fit for us IF he stays healthy and and play like he did when he was in N.O. Chandler also has an expiring contract too worth 11million. We need a shooting guard(Raja Bell) and a low post presence. Still highly pissed we couldnt get Al Jefferson or Al Harrington. Hopefully we can get Shaq. He can still put up 15 and 10 if healthy. Come on Mavs! SMH

Tyson Chandler – really nice guy. Unfortunately, really soft player. Its crazy to think he is that tall (over 7ft) and has absolutely no post moves. Oh yeah, no college. Mavs fans are gonna be booing him by the 3rd home game.
