How Much Horseradish can Amar’e Handle?

by Lang Whitaker | @langwhitaker

Amar’e Stoudemire has recently been going through a very public exploration of his Jewish roots. The Gold Pure Food company says they’ve come up with a way for Amar’e to see just how Jewish he is: eating horseradish.

According to CNBC

Gold, whose company is the official mustard of the New York Mets and New York Islanders, has now issued a challenge to Stoudemire.

“If Amar’e is really Jewish then there is only one way to prove it,” Gold told CNBC. “How much horseradish can he handle?”

Gold said the challenge will include picking up Stoudemire from his home and taken via limo to Gold’s Horseradish plant in Hempstead, NY. Once there, Gold said he’ll be asked to spend 30 seconds “exploring his horseradish roots.”

If Stoudemire doesn’t burst out crying in the grinding room or after eating a forkful of horseradish on a piece of matzoh and doesn’t fall backwards after smelling a gallon of horseradish placed right before his eyes, he’ll win the challenge.

The payoff?

“We’ll guarantee Amar’e a lifetime supply of Gold’s Horseradish (red, white or extra hot cream style) for him and his family,” Gold said.

Is horseradish cool again?? Since when?! YES! Add it to crackers for a kick, or enjoy it with a roast beef sandwich. Welcome back, horseradish!

For those who do not know what horseradish is. Go to Quizno’s and look at the end of the counter. You’ll see a huge jug of horseradish. Press once and taste. Hold on to tearducts cause you will be crying later.

It’s a hot dressing you would put on meat or in dishes to add a kick. Some people use tabasco, others like hold/mild sauce, some go for the chilli paste and others go for the horse radish…
