Isiah Thomas Will NOT Be Working For The Knicks

Thomas won’t be reuniting with the Knicks  any time soon. Zeke had the following to say on the matter (via press release): ““After speaking with Commissioner Stern and Knicks executives, it has become apparent that my new agreement violates certain NBA bylaws. Because of this, I have decided to rescind my contract with the team. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Jim Dolan, Donnie Walsh, Mike D’Antoni and the entire Knicks organization, and I want to thank them for affording me this opportunity.

“One of the biggest regrets of my life is that the Knicks didn’t perform up to the standards the fans had every right to expect while I was in charge. I take full responsibility for that. I was very much looking forward to this unique opportunity to help the organization do what I do best: find basketball talent. I wish the team nothing but success in the future.”

All those people that make fun of Isiah, please try and remember how good he was on the hardwood. That should be enough to keep the haters away but I guess not. MJ enjoys the same luxuries, so why not Zeke.

So why couldn’t the Knicks sort this out BEFORE making the big eff’n announcement? KAAAHHH… oops I mean DOOOLLAAAAANNN!!!

actually JTaylor: I don’t know about you, but most of us are mocking MJ since he became the big Bobcat. And mocking MJ is something that’s fair since 2009 (the infamous induction speech). But sure, Thomas was a great player, we all agree on that.

Isiah truly is one of the most underrated players ever. Unfortunately he hasn’t done anything right as an exec, but he’s a smart guy I’m sure he’ll make things right some day.

So… um, does that mean that Dolan will NOT be taking his calls or inviting him over for dinner? Please. He’s been “consulting” since they fired him. He didn’t need to be an official consultant for the Knicks to send him by his damn self to Akron for a 2nd meeting with Bron.

Let there never be said again that David Stern didn’t do anything good for this league.

JTaylor: you HAVE got to be kidding. I had nothing against the guy for ruining an organization I have no vested interest in, at all. But Dolan is king d0uchebag for how he treats the knicks fan base, and Isiah taking in favors to weasel himself back to a franchise that threw him out makes him prince d0uchebag. And a former GM that doesn’t understand NBA bylaws that knowledgeable fans know by heart? Bullsh!t. He and his boyfriend knew about this. This entire thing stinks. F*ck Dolan, and f*ck Isiah, too.

    Thank you Jebus.

  • Drew

The entire state of NY just took a collective sigh of relief. At least I hope they had the sense to.

@Drew – the entire state of NY + one giant sigh of relief up here in Canada.

This is the only sensible thing that’s happened to the Knicks this season and the LEAGUE had to make the decision for them. That should tell you everything you need to know about the rich man’s plaything pretending to be a basketball team. You have to think D’Antoni & Walsh signed up strictly for the cash. I’m starting to believe there is no way they can build a decent team with Dolan involved.

You Knick Fans are NUTS! Dave Checketts and Scott Layden had your franchise screwed up,AND had sub-par talent!! You had one of the highest payrolls in the League! You haven’t won anything since 1973,not 2004 or 2007! You blamed Lenny Wilkens and Don Chaney, but you don’t talk much about Larry Brown and D’Antonio! Donnie Walsh and Larry Bird destroyed a Championship-level team that won 61 games in Indiana, and you’re happy that he’s in New York?? What would you rather have, the Michael Sweetney/Channing Frye-days,or Marbury,Francis,Crawford,Curry,Lee &Robinson?? What did D’Antonio win in Phoenix?? How in the he’ll did you expect to get that talent on your team?? Weren’t all of these players making big-money before they came to New York??is it Isiah’s fault that they didn’t play well, any more than Bird,McHale, and Jordan aren’t being blamed for Destroying their franchises? You had Mark Jackson and Rod Strickland as back-to-back Rookies of the year! What happened to cause you to lose BOTH of them,so Patrick had to deal with Starks and Gerald Wilkins, instead if building up your Forwards around him!! Oh,I see, this is same City that ran Joe Torre away!! LOL! Remember,D’Antonio and Walsh ran Marbury away (at 20 MILLION),and replaced him with Chris Duhon!!! You deserve what you have right now;Newsflash:You haven’t won a damn thing since 1973!
