K-Mart, Birdman Could Miss ‘Significant Time’

Not only may Kenyon Martin (knee surgery) and Chris Andersen (knee and finger) miss an early chunk of the season, they may have to compete for playing time with Al Harrington when they return. Mid-season trade, anyone? From the Denver Post: “Adding to the many issues facing the team is that Karl, who expects to be back on the bench this fall after battling cancer since last spring, will start the season without two major contributors. A team source said Wednesday that Nuggets forwards Kenyon Martin and Chris Andersen could miss “significant time” to start the season as they recover from knee surgeries.”

Why does it seem like Denver’s bigs are always injured?

  • T-Money Posted: Aug.19 at 12:01 pm
So they’re going to pul Al on Pau, Dirk, Bosh, TD, Aldridge, KG, etc.? That’s the pan?

niQ… Its stupid kenyon always with the knees. and nene has a legit reason he had cancer.

  • niQ Posted: Aug.19 at 1:40 pm
kundai, yea. But now its Birdman. And before they had Camby, who is pretty much famous for being injury prone. (that and defense)

More reasons why melo wants out. Isnt chauncey 35?

Good thing they got Harrington too for when Melo gets traded…they could just slide AL to the SF spot. If only the Knicks had a big they could send Denver to help them up front. Oh, wait…Eddy Curry hasn’t played in like 3 or 4 years so his legs should be fresh like when Grant Hill came back from his injuries.

i don’t get why players wait so long to have surgery, knowing it takes weeks or months to rehab.

Oh no, all this time off is just gonna give Birdman and K-Mart more chances to get another 500 tattoos…

Re K-Mart, I’ve heard everything from ‘he’ll miss the first two months’ to he’ll miss the whole season’. Its a bit like the Mike Redd situation. Curse those knees. Either way, Denvers downfall begins in earnest from… now.

@MikeC- I’m sure he has his reasons… Melo get out of there while you still can!!I’m telling you this team is going south…

The Nuggets should have never signed Birdman to a contract extension anyway and K Mart is a shell of himself, he is like the Blue light special except it comes every 22 games. Nuggets should trade Billups and NeNe for some younger pieces to put around Melo. I would let Lawson take the point and try to get a big that plays defense/offense. Also the Nuggets biggest asset in trade value is JR Smith, trade him for younger pieces. BOOK IT!!

    @ The Seed^ Melo is leaving, haven’t u heard?

  • The Seed Posted: Aug.19 at 7:12 pm
I know, but those signing were dumb, plus Melo is in a New York state of Mind.

  • Groves Posted: Aug.19 at 9:52 pm
whats happened to Nene in the frontcourt?.. im a nuggets fan and i haven’t heard anything of him not being our starting centre

  • Scottie Pimpin Posted: Aug.19 at 10:22 pm
