According to Frank Isola of the NY Daily News, Mason Jr. has joined the Knicks after playing the last few seasons in San An: “Knicks to sign Roger Mason for one-year, $1.4 million contract. Knicks refused to give up future No. 1 pick to land Rudy Fernandez.”

i wonder if they told him straight up that he was their second option after brown, or if he just had to intuit it..

good pick up i guess….he stunk it up last year

So I guess this means no pt for L’il Andy Rautins…

The Bulls were looking at him too, now it looks like it’s down to Keith Bogans, T-Mac, or trade for Rudy Fernandez (1st-round pick and James Johnson would be fine to part with, but NOT Taj Gibson) for that other swingman they’ve been wanting to acquire.

Whats this big chip? As in, angry at the Spurs for not re-upping, or mad at only getting one year?

  • backboard Posted: Aug.5 at 8:21 pm
thank god, the knicks saved the season….

Not a bad player. Can’t hurt.

GOOD THE BULLS DIDNT SIGN HIM he was trash last year

As a Knicks fan, even I know we’re gonna suck until we can sign Melo, Paul and get rid of D’antoni and get Doc on the bench. Even then, having a few top 3 draft picks wouldn’t hurt at all, but we won’t have any until the Mayans predict it….

@andre, I think the chip is some leftover rubble from all the bricks he was throwing up last season. Good riddance!

he had one decent year for San An when he hit like three buzzer-beaters or something, but thats bout it

  • fruity4rudy Posted: Aug.5 at 9:57 pm

D’Antony has to go to make this team better, his teams play no D

He will always be remembered for that game in san antonio vs lal when kobe hit what he thought was game winner and did the sam cassell big balls dance. Then, roger hit a shot, and 1 on fish, for the win, suck it kobe

Whatever, we (Houston) still own NY’s first round pick(s) for 2011, and I think 2012.

  • Remo Williams Posted: Aug.5 at 11:30 pm
why does he want knick fans to “LETGO”?

  • HerbeC Posted: Aug.6 at 6:19 am
I am surprised that he can’t get a bigger contract with a little bit more money.

This is a solid under the radar move by the Knicks in response to Shannon choosing to continue to ride coattails in La La Land. Roger Mason when healthy is a very good three point shooter, who’s capable of hitting big shots during winning time. I compare Mason’s game to Earl ‘JR’ Smith’s, but sans the melodrama and sexy dunks.

does having a near minimum contract qualify you to be called money mase?

  • ConeyIslander Posted: Aug.6 at 8:56 am
We need all the cheap fluff we can get until we put Mello and CP in the blue and orange!

  • Richie Posted: Aug.6 at 9:36 am
    Rudy Fernandez is overrated.

  • niQ Posted: Aug.6 at 10:20 am
    LETGO!!!!!!!

  • Matt Lawyue Posted: Aug.6 at 10:48 am
Decent addition to the backcourt, now they need a big who can board and bruise

I remember when Arenas got hurt a couple of years ago, Mason put up more than decent numbers for the Wizards, and when he actually got playing time with the Spurs, he performed really well within their system. Good for the Knicks, smart move.
