Mo Williams, LeBron Had ‘Much-Needed Conversation’

James and Williams ran into each other at the airport, and cleared the air on what took place this summer. From the Plain Dealer: “The Cavaliers’ point guard was worried about his flight being four hours late on Sunday, when he had a personal appearance scheduled for Monday’s 25th Cavaliers Youth Fund Classic golf event. But, thanks to the delay, he ran into an old friend at the airport — LeBron James. Williams had tweeted his disappointment when James left Cleveland for Miami. But the two hadn’t really conversed until Sunday. ‘We talked for a bit,’ Williams said. ‘I think it was a much-needed conversation, being that we were so close. The conversation went well. Obviously, our friendship is beyond basketball. Obviously, the basketball decision touched me emotionally. Part of me is still sour, but in the overall picture, you don’t wish anything bad to anybody, including friends. I wish him the best. He’s got enough people rooting against him. He doesn’t need one more.’ Asked what he thought James’ return with the Heat on Dec. 2 would be like, Williams sighed and then said, ‘You tell me. It’s going to be … I’m optimistic about that. I wouldn’t say I’m looking forward to Dec. 2, but I think it’s going to be an emotional day. For lack of a better word, I think it’s going to be an emotional day, especially for the fans. As players, as an organization, it’s personal to a point, but at the end of the day, we look at the business aspect of it. But a fan is a fan. Fans love Cleveland on the front of your jersey and that’s what they root for. They’re going to feel the way they’re going to feel. It’s going to be kind of … interesting, the reception.’”

as much as I despise both LBJ and Mo, id have to say Mo shouldnt catch feelings, Lebron is the Reason why we even know who Mo Williams is. That and Being the poster boy for the word OVERRATED AND PLAYOFF CHOCKE

  • EJ

Mo was better in Milwauke, and he was making big shots, he was really good back then, I know it was a worse team, but still. Has anyone noticed how guys seem to get worse around Lebron? Like Mo, Jamison and Shaq, and Shannon was with Cleveland and nobody knew who he was, now he’s real popular and a solid player with Kobe, who is supposed to make his teammates worse. i guess it’s just that Lebron has the ball so much, yet some people still say he’s the most unselfish player in the NBA.

  • gregor

In fairness, Shaq and Antawn are on the way down

  • ConeyIslander

Not knocking Mo, he’s a good player but if he’s your second option on a squad, your in a tight spot!

”I swear, NOTHING happened with me and your aunt”

  • Mo

Most of the players LeBron get to play with are older and over the hill. The players Kobe gets to play with are in the prime of their careers. Big difference. And Shannon did have his moments in Cleveland as well. Stop hating.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

EJ does have a point. I always said Lebron only made passes to get the highlight assist.

  • Mo

Lol. ” Lebron only made passes to get the highlight assist.” So it has nothing to do with the player being “OPEN” huh? You rarely see LeBron miss an open teammate. I swear, some of you guys are a bunch of “crabs.” Lol. The LBJ hate is getting rediculous when people start making up sh*t.

  • http://stapledesign.com Spaceship Jay

@ Kap; I wouldn’t say that he does it only for “highlight assist”, but things always got anti-productive came playoff time

  • Fat Lever

Whew, thank god! Couldn’t go on with life knowing of the tension between Mo and Lebron.

  • Irfan

Is that why LBJ couldn’t come to the World Championships? Or because of the strenghtening of the antidoping controls?

  • http://itsahardwoodlife.blogspot.com omphalos

No matter how unselfish he is, he simply dominates the ball far too much for the team to work; I’ll be curious to see how he goes on a more balanced team.

And scene. The hell, a “much-needed conversation.” Between Mo Williams and Lebron? Da’hell. If ya’ll are really friends outside of basketball, then y did the convo need to happen? Get da’fuggouttahere. Mo was just all in his feelings, cause Lebron pulled the I don’t wanna play with him, I wanna play with THEM, move.

Slow basketball news day I guess.

EJ’s argument has been made before, although it’s highly unlikely he’ll have a similar effect in Miami as Dwyane Wade remains South Beach’s Alpha Male. The reality falls more on Mike Brown than Lebron, though. Cavs got a Shaq who came off of a 17 and 8/9 year and played him in the most limited role of his career. With a decent coach, I’m sure Lebron would have been able to play alongside the Larry Hughes and Drew Goodens far better.

  • Fat Joe

Mo Williams always impressed me wit how well-spoken he is.

    LeBron James is fat

  • http://slamonline.com J Dizzle

Boston_blogger, Mike Brown started with two fifty-win seasons, 45 wins in the season, and finished with 66 and 61. How much more of a “decent” coach would have made Lebron better? I know he isn’t amazing, but those are good numbers for a coaches first 5 years, not to mention a coach of the year award. “The King” is the one who doesn’t shine in the playoffs, you can’t pin it all on Brown.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

So now players only get better with Kobe and worse with Lebron.
I swear there must be something in the air.

  • JTaylor21

Wow he only makes the pass for the highlight? WHAT kind of MORON says sh*t like that, how can you only pass just to get on highlight reels. KAP please go sit in your car with the garage closed and leave the engine running, FU*KING idiot.

  • Drew

I hate Mo Williams. All he does is talk big in the playoffs and never deliver. Soon as he talks they pretty much lose the next game, series.

  • http://thedailyheat.com Flood

What gets me is when guys (like Mo Williams, in this instance) say things like: “We’re so close, our friendship goes beyond basketball” but then say “we haven’t talked since the decision.” If these guys were so close and their friendship mattered, how have they gone so long without speaking? And realize, they had no intention of speaking if it weren’t for a chance encounter. Maybe these friendships aren’t as rock solid as some believe.

  • http://stapledesign.com Spaceship Jay

@ Irfan; Actually, Lebron was there for every event in NYC. Nike didn’t want him in the public eye for the media to set him on fire because of recent events.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

@JTaylor21…Calm your ass down. As much stupid sh*t as you say you have no room to call anyone an idiot.

  • Sparker

    allenp, that was hilarious

  • kundai

You cant say lebron doesnt shine in the playoffs because he has every game but 1.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Lebron’s highlight assists will be astronomical and in high numbers this season. Just saying.

  • tavoris

Allenp-I think it’s bogus, but Shannon Brown definitely upgraded. LA, a ring, and Monica. That’s a great year if I ever seen one.

  • http://stapledesign.com Spaceship Jay

Shannon got into a better SYSTEM… I don’t think Lebron or Kobe has anything to do with that.

  • http://twitter.com/HarryByrdMan44 LA Huey

Totally LeBron’s fault that he got a Shaq and Jamison on the wrong side of 30. Also, LeBron’s fault that it took Shannon Brown more than two years to become overrated. You guys are funny.

antawn sucking it up in cleveland last year had more to do with mike brown, and less to do with lebron. i hate lebron, but that one wasn’t on him. you take a guy who can shoot 3s, has a great mid-range jumper can score in the post from time to time, and averages 20/10 for yrs…and then you send him to cleveland and he is not giving output? that’s the coaching staff not knowing how to properly use him. cavs should’ve been running pick and pop with him and mo or him and bron all day.

Actually, Jamison had the same flaws in Cleveland he had everywhere else. They were just magnified because the games meant something.
Remember, he sucked for hte Wizards against the Cavs in the playoffs as well. All his great regular season shooting disappeared when nut cutting time came.
And he never, ever played defense, was a horrible passer, and really needed way too many touches. He was the same player, just with fewer touches, more defensive responsibility, and more pressure.
The only thing I blame Mike Brown for is actually thinking Jamison could guard KG in the post. That was just stupid.

  • vic21

Mo: “Yo man why you bailed out on us?”
LeBron: “Why you don’t showed up come playoffs time?”
Mo:”Yeah that’s right I was the one hiding”
—the rest of this conversation was cutted out by someone who may or may not work for Nike——–

  • T-Money

Co-sign Allenp to the fullest! Doc was on record saying that he wanted KG to shoot 20+ times a game vs Twan before the series began, and this was coming from a coach who likes to spread the wealth on O. Mike Brown has great defensive system but sucks balls at reacting to mismatches. He never reacted to Orlando’s barrage of 3s or side PnR for Turkoglu, and he never reacted to Boston iso’ing KG on the block. Truth be told, Jamison should have been a show starter in that series with Andy V and JJ getting the bulk of the minutes at the 4.
