Nuggets Owner Purchases NFL’s St Louis Rams

Stan Kroenke is taking his talents to the land of the NFL, leaving his son to handle Denver’s hoops team. From the Denver Post: “As followers of the NFL, particularly those emotionally attached to the St. Louis Rams, were introduced to Stan Kroenke on Wednesday, many Denver-area sports fans were technically waving goodbye. By unanimous approval, NFL owners voted to approve Kroenke’s full purchase of the Rams. To comply with the NFL’s cross-ownership policy, Kroenke will transfer by year’s end the financial interest of the NHL’s Avalanche and the NBA’s Nuggets to his son, Josh. Denver, it seems, will soon become well acquainted with the work of Josh Walton Kroenke. ‘Josh Kroenke, in my view, has been ready to take over the Nuggets for a couple of years,’ Stan Kroenke said. ‘I just haven’t put him in that position. He was — and still is — very young, but he’s had his 10,000 hours, if you read Malcolm Gladwell. Josh is ready to do that.’ Josh Kroenke is 30 years old and stands a shooting guard-sized 6-feet-4 which he was at the University of Missouri for coach Quin Snyder. Josh was born, raised and educated in Columbia, Mo. Besides holding the controlling interests of the Avalanche and the Nuggets, he will have executive decision-making powers with the Nuggets. And he will be baptized with an emotionally charged issue: keeping high-scoring superstar Carmelo Anthony in Denver.”

    lol that’s funny Kevin. But as a Rams fan I’m ecstatic about this. The old owner moved the Rams from LA when her husband died and she took over, and then drove the team to the bottom of the barrel in the NFL. I don’t know much about this new owner, but I’m sure glad SOMEONE new is in charge in STL.

    Good move, the rams have great fans and Bradford is due to play good for a while, until he gets hit, since they have a weak offensive line, but the Rams will be back and if you got money to spend or waste, why not invest in the NFL, where the Owners control everything. That Franchise tag deal is tight for owners to. Imagine if the Cavs could have franchise tag Lebron for one or two years. BOOK IT!!!

    I think I’m late to the party with this comment, but if a dude can own an NBA team, and can afford to also buy an NFL team, he should also be able to afford to hire top-notch managers for his NBA team. Why are the Kroenkes low-balling every candidate for the Nuggets’ GM job? It’s easy to throw around make-believe money, but if I were sitting in their brontosaurus-skinned seats, and rocking their cashmere jeans, I’d make a Godfather offer to someone like Rod Thorn, Jerry West or some intern that works for the Spurs(since everyone in their organization, including the valets, can build a winner), to come work for me. If I’m a billionaire, I can throw around millions. It’s like me cashing a $1500 commission cheque and buying Heineken instead of Bud. I’m also drunk right now….guess who had a good month? Woooooo!!! If I make no sense, blame it on my clients! Wooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

    I agree with the last 3 comments! Rams should come back to LA (stadium hopefully still in the works?!), Jackson can truck even the best defenders, and the owners are being cheap!

    I completely agree with you J Dizzle. Finally someone who will care owns the Rams. The owners wife and kids let the Rams fall to the place they are now. I’ve been waiting for a new owner for years. I’ve been a fan since I was a child living in California but but now living in Indiana and still a die hard fan (against all odds – and Colts fans) I don’t know if I want them to go back to LA. :( They are closer to me now that they are in St. Louis! :) Sorry, selfish, I know!!!
