Polladaday: The Next ROY?

This year’s rookie class definitely has some serious talent. But who will take home the coveted Rookie of the Year award?

Who's the next Rookie of the Year?

    TIAGOOOOOO!!!!!!

i’m in favor with Favors..(biased) but i’m leaning towards Wall after summer league..

  • http://Soulbanger.tumblr.com Tapion786

I’m also down with favors. Doesn’t seem too likely with the work he needs to make on his offensive moves, so it’ll be wall or turner. More wall

  • Bmd23

Id have to say wall is the next ROY. However I’d like to see Stephenson go crazy and get it.

  • Ali

Wall is looking like everyones fav for ROY right now. He will handle the ball way more than the others. Capable of 15-20pts, 5rebs, 5pts… Don’t sleep on the Palmdale, Cali homie Paul George at Indy. Hope he get’s some run out there. My sleeper if he gets the minutes. Thank you Lance!

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

    my sleeper is Larry Sanders.

  • Groves

Demarcus Cousins Will Surprise, but im rolling with wall

  • http://www.slamonline.com wayno

I think Blake Griffin is gonna take care of business…eventhough he didn’t play, he still has a year of experience in the NBA culture and I think that will be to his advantage. The Griffin-Kaman frontcourt is gonna tear it up.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ niQ

I think it’s going to be a race between John Wall and Blake Griffin. Both players appear to be immensely important to their team but I feel Wall has a bit of an edge.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ niQ

Whoever’s team (between Clippers and Wizards) has more wins will probably win it I guess.

  • george w. buckets

im going with wall, and if greg oden is still eligible then he is my sleeper pick

  • Chang T

Wesley Johnson. He will have plenty of opportunity in MN and his game is solid.

  • logues

i gotta roll with my home team and say wesley johnson. i had a dream the other day that he dropped 28 in his first nba game haha

  • Mena-Slade

Wesley Johnson because john wall has to get his alongside nick younga and gilbert, while evan turner has to deal with iggy and jodie droppin buckets, jrue holiday droppin dimes and elton snatching boards, demarcus will not wow us but will have a solid year while blake is playing beside an all-star in chris kaman

  • The Philosopher

I agree with niQ and Wayno.
    Either Wall and/or Griffin.

  • PlanetAsia14

I agree with J: Larry Sanders is a sleeper, and has a possibility of breaking out as a rookie… (Kind of like how Brandon Jennings did.)

  • Savage Dragon

I gotta go with demarcus. Nobody to really compete with in the post and him and tyreke together may be good enough to post a noticeable improvement. John Wall has to share the backcourt with Gilbert, and Blake will be playing with an established post player with Kaman.

Favors is coming off the bench behind Troy Murphy at least until mid season so he’s out.

  • http://www.slamonline.com wayno

and is it just me, or do the Clips actually look like a pretty solid team this year? Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, Al-Forouq Aminu, Blake Griffin, Chris Kaman seems like a very solid 5….assuming Griffin and Aminu pan out like they’re projected to. They have and ok bench too.

  • Valentin Faure from France

Blake Griffin is going to win it !

  • Brett

Wesley Johnson. Most NBA ready player & will get plenty if playing time in Minnesota. CUSE stand up!

  • Brett

    of* not if

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

I like Blake Griffin to win it. If Gilbert Arenas is sticking around in DC, I can see him going all out trying to “redeem himself”, to the tune of like 25, 5 and 5, which would obviously hurt Wall’s stats. Barring injuries, Wall will have the best career of the bunch, though.

  • unrel

@wayno… people say that every year for that squad.. on paper.. they look good.. remember that squad of LO, Magette, EB, D.Miles, etc.. they always look good on paper..

  • http://www.slamonline.com wayno

    very true unrel…

  • lol

    JEREMY LIN!!! lol

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

How did Aminu even get drafted in the top 25…he is nothing but another guy with potential who has no fundamentals or any type of shooting ability.

  • Str8in It Out

I’m siding with niQ @ 10:30 & 10:34 both excellent comments. I’ll give the PG Wall the edge for the simple fact that he’ll have the ball in his hands…but with Josh Howard and Gilbert Arenas on the roster (both willing passers…more JHo than Gil) some of Wall’s assists may be lost for the sake of “ball movement”. Blake Griffin, with Drew signing with the Bucks and Camby being moved, will definitely have a chance to grow. But Kaman will get most of the touches in the paint. So it should be interesting. On the low, DeMarcus Cousins will have a chance to be the Kings primary post-producer in terms of points. If he can snatch some rebounds away from Dalembert and beg Tyreke to pass him the ball…he could mos def get the ROY. Should be interesting.

  • B*Ridge

I’m all in with Larry Sanders. Wisco Bucks fan here so obviously being biased but I think he has all the tools to rack up big numbers and the defense to get on the floor and stay there with a coach like Skiles. True that the Bucks have Bogut and Gooden but after them they have no true PF or C on the roster, sounds like lots of minutes on a winning defensive team. Plus in summer league (i know, i know) his offence looked to be more versital than Blakes with better range.

  • JTaylor21

I’m going with BGriffin. Remember how good and devastating Amare was when he was a rook. That’s exactly who griffin will be like in his rookie year. Also he’s already twice the rebounder Amare is right now and at least tries to play defense.

  • LA Huey

Toss up between Lin/Wall and Udoh/Griffin

  • abdul

    Tiago Splitter

  • Groves

@ abdul. Tiago Splitter, i forgot about his rookie status… good pick.
    @ LA Huey. Lin? really?
