Ron Artest Switching to No. 15 Jersey

Ron Ron is coming full-circle. From the Orange County Register: “Artest became a champion wearing No. 37, but he put in the request late last season with the NBA to switch to his college number at St. John’s and the first number he wore in his NBA career: 15. Artest started out with the Chicago Bulls wearing No. 15, then wound up switching to Michael Jordan’s No. 23 with the Indiana Pacers. Artest has also worn Nos. 91, 93 and 96 in his career. Artest switched from No. 91 in Indiana back to his original No. 15 in 2005 for the season after he was suspended 73 games by the NBA for his infamous night in Auburn Hills — but he was traded from Indiana to Sacramento just 16 games into that season.”

yeah thats ron-ron.. changin numbers again lol wonder what the meaning is behind all his number changes or if there is even a meaning at all to it lol dude is crazy

He always picks the best numbers. Loved when he was rocking 93 and 96 for QB. Say Queensbridge!

so…what if, by some strange stretch, the Lakers trade Odom and Bynum for Melo (and maybe Lawson)? The lakers need a franchise player to replace Kobe in a few years, why not Melo? I guess Melo could try a different number. I know I am VERY far ahead of myself, but still.

@LDR4…: Best numbers? Is there such a thing???

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

@sanchez- 23, 33, 3 and 1 are usually considered to be the ‘best’ numbers. Just because of the players who’ve worn the jersey. Jordan, James, Bird, Pippen, Kareem. Iverson, Wade, McGrady, Penny, Francis, Billups, Marbury. List goes on.

    nice?

@Hursty…: I know what you mean, but a number becomes the “best” for each player if this particular number means something to him. After all, is just a number. I could play in the NBA with no number at all. Am I wrong?

37 was working just fine for him… :)

Dudes tries so hard to be like dennis rodham. Must have learned the art of impersonating all-time greats from the master of FAKE duplications.

@Taylor … Rodham eh, what era did he play in?

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

Sanchez – I… Dont really undertand your comment? And yes, you would have to wear a number. Even if it was 00 like what the Chief wore, or 0 like Arenas.

@Hursty…: Of course you have to wear a number. All I’m saying is that a number doesn’t make a player better. Therefore, there aren’t “best” numbers.

    QUEENSBRIDGE!!!
but i’m from LA though lol go Lakers!!

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

Sanchez – I think it does though. Even if its a placebo effect. Still significantly impacts on a players comfort and mindset. I know it effected mine, and I think the same would apply for nba guys too. If you believe you play better, then… Yes, it matters.

  • Nick the Quick

If Darko, wore #21 he would be a beast….

  • Overtime

@ Hursty, dont forget 34, Barkley, the Dream, L.A Shaq :D

@Hursty…: What you are saying, this is exactly my point in my 11:24 comment. A number, that a player chooses to wear, is good just for the player for the reasons you mentioned. I totally agree with you, it worked for me too. But it’s good just for him. I played with number 5 because I liked it, not because it’s KG’s or JKidd’s number. LDR4 earlier said that Artest always picks the best numbers, meaning that these numbers are the best for everyone. Generally there are no “best” numbers. Individually, yes, there are. You know what I mean…?

    Lol y’all arguing about numbers.

  • http://www.slamonline.com James the Balla

    y’all ARE arguing about numbers*

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

Ron is a CHAMPION now, so he got a ring and thats more than most top players in the NBA now, so he switch is number to anything on the Lakers, except number 8. Kobe will be first player to retire two number in NBA History with one team. BOOK IT!!!

  • rav

hursty – marbury in that list? you hammered or summat?
