Zydrunas Ilgauskas to Cavs Fans: Thank You

Big Z took out an ad in the local paper to thank the star-crossed fans in Cleveland for their support: “Although he has moved on to Miami in search of the NBA Championship that eluded him here, former Cavs center Zydrunas Ilgauskas has not forgotten the fans or city that welcomed and supported him for the majority of his career. In an ad published in today’s Plain Dealer, Z thanks the fans and city for their support. While saying that Cleveland will always be his home, Ilgauskas asks for understanding as he chases his dream of a ring.”

Slightly different style than LBJ, don’t you think?

This shows class from Big Z Unlike Lebron James. I dont think fans should be mad at him they should be mad at Lebron.

  • marchalmadness Posted: Aug.2 at 9:26 am
shouldnt all the cleveland fans be really angry at him now, just like lebron is treated?

Class act. One of the very few Cavaliers that I actually liked. @Marchalmadness, no, not atal. In no way. Maybe they shouldnt have used him as trade piece to Washington last year

He’s doing it as a result of the way fans went off on Lebron. I don’t think it’s indicative of class but more of tact. Z don’t want no drama

what is with the incredibly stupid fonts that cleveland picks for their letters?

I hope the big fella gets his ring, and lands a job with the Cavs organization after he retires.

I love Big Z. Really, I love him.

    Traitor.

I like the way he handled this. Guess there was no way to make it worse than how LBJ did it.

  • capostat Posted: Aug.2 at 11:53 am
    see Martley’s post…

Personally, I think that a player who does this is selfish, and I would never do such a thing. He’s an idiot. Signed,

I’m not a Cleveland fan, but I was on a Cavs fans website reading up on Z signing with Miami, and a good 85% of the comments on there were positive in terms of how they feel about Z. Cleveland still loves dude. I think it’s genuinely mutual.

    @LDR4 just “slightly”

  • RyandC Posted: Aug.2 at 1:37 pm
@Martey and capostat: i disagree, Z could have said/done nothing and nobody wouldve have cared esp after the LBJ mess. but he did something nice which he didnt have to do. You stay classy, Big Z.

  • Scott Posted: Aug.2 at 2:00 pm
He should have used Comic Sans to prove how sincere he was with his message.

  • Negetivekreep Posted: Aug.2 at 2:23 pm
Nice move by Z, much classier than saying “i dont owe them anything” as for asking for understanding? Thats like asking ur girl to be understanding about leaving her a$$ for a better looking, more successful younger woman…lol. But much respect to BigZ for being a man & showing heart.

  • Reemo Posted: Aug.2 at 2:57 pm
He doesn’t owe them anything. Neither does LBJ. Get over it

  • JTaylor21 Posted: Aug.2 at 3:16 pm
    MOTHERFU*K CLEVELAND!!!!!!

  • Gary Posted: Aug.2 at 3:38 pm
Classy move. He thanked the fans. Not the organization. The organization traded him halfway through the season and then resigned him after he was waived. He wasn’t happy about that. The Cavs quit on him before he quit on them.

  • Negetivekreep Posted: Aug.2 at 3:41 pm
Thats the point numbskull. Of course he doesnt “owe” them anything.Thats why the move was classy. His comments came voluntarily just like friendship does.
Its the same reason why A.I. kissed the sixers logo upon returning to Philly after leaving. Yes it’s a business 1′st, but its also a game, a game players as well as fans are passionate about.Someguys choose to ingnore that part, some guys dont, its not owed, its voluntary, some ballplayers never liked to tip thier hat,(mays,Williams) they werent well received, others did, the fans remember. Get over it.

THIS FAKE TO ME. I MEAN LAST YEAR WHEN THE CAVS TRADED BIG Z TO WASHINGTON EVERYBODY WAS LIKE WELL HE HAD TO COME BACK TO CLEV BECAUSE HE NEVER PLAYED ANYWHERE ELSE AND THATS WHERE HIS HEART IS!! SO WHAT THE HELL HAPPEN TO ALL OF THAT?? JUST SHOWS YOU THAT FEED YOU ALOT OF B.S

  • Michael NZ Posted: Aug.2 at 5:41 pm
And what about when Mike Brown gave him a DNP when he was going to break the games played record for the Cavs? That was cold.

  • total scrotal implosion Posted: Aug.2 at 7:50 pm
Once he arrives in mia, he will quickly forget that dump of a city called cleveland

  • R2J Posted: Aug.3 at 2:43 am
Much respect to Z. LeBron, you should take some notes.
