Bulls, Nuggets Discussing Carmelo Anthony Deal?

Carmelo Anthony is reportedly interested in playing for the Chicago Bulls. Not surprisingly, the Bulls would welcome him with open arms, should a reasonable deal for his services become available. And that’s where the trouble begins.

According to numerous media outlets, Chicago and Denver are having talks involving ‘Melo, Joakim Noah, Luol Deng and perhaps some draft picks.

From the Sun-Times:

According to multiple reports, the Bulls and Denver Nuggets have talked about a trade that would send the high-scoring small forward to Chicago to form another Big Three along with Derrick Rose and Carlos Boozer. The Bulls would prefer to build a deal around forward Luol Deng, but the Nuggets are reluctant to take on Deng’s contract, which has four years and roughly $15 million left.

A source said the Nuggets would be more interested in a deal built around center Joakim Noah, but the Bulls are trying to decide whether such a deal interests them — especially considering Deng probably still would have to be included to make the deal work under the rules of the salary cap.

Now, the reality is no one seems to truly believe that a deal will be worked out anytime soon — if ever — between the two sides.

Landing Anthony would obviously be a major coup for the Bulls’ front-office, but what they’re offering back to the Nuggets doesn’t seem to make a whole lot of sense: Deng is a financial albatross, and as good as Noah is, would any GM be able to justify trading Carmelo for him?

The Carmelo Anthony Saga doesn’t appear ready to conclude anytime soon.

    @ pardeep. Melo is a better offensive player than noah,but that’s about it. Defense? Can’t get that from melo. Rebounding? Can’t get that from melo. Hustle play/energy? Can’t get that from melo. Heart and emotional leader of team? Can’t get that from melo

    We will not be better off without Noah. We need to trade deng and give up gibson and j. johnson. Melo definitley fits b/c rose can score but it’s not his first priority. The bulls just really needed his points last year. Melo will shoulder the scoring load w/boozer while rose can focus on setting everybody up and still get his 17-19 ppg. Then they’ll have the best starting lineup in the league, on paper. We’ll have to wait and see.

    Those who would rather have Noah than Melo is sadly mistaken. The Bulls had this opportunity before to get Kobe. Bulls better not make the same mistake and better let go of Noah if they have a shot to get a top 5 NBA player. Melo should just walk away next year and sign with the Bulls own his own, but he is ready to leave. If I was Nuggets I would rather have Chandler and some picks for Melo than Noah anyway. Chandler has upside and come in and start in Melo place. The Nuggets have plenty of bigs, they need an athletic SF like Chandler. BOOK IT!!!

    We have all seen Caramel – o melt down a plenty of times.
    He is no leader.
    Noah is a guy you take to war with you.
    He’ll inspire you.
    Anthony will throw you under the bus.
    He throws himself under buses, too.
    I wouldn’t be surprised either way though, if they do it or not.

    i would think a team with melo instead of noah would be better, yeah they would have better defense and rebounding with noah, but they would be arguably the best offensive team on paper

    Luol Deng first rounder this year and first rounder next year seems fair for a guy that will almost for sure leave. You’re getting a versatile small, and the opportunity at two great guys. Honestly, the Nuggets would still make the playoffs without Melo in my opinion, they just wouldn’t get very far.

    I like Noah’s hustle and game and he’d look good in Green but let’s not anoint him star status. Bulls fans would hate to see him go but as someone stated earlier: Noah can be replaced easier than getting a player of Melo’s caliber. The Bulls are in a better position to hold to their guns than the Nuggets b/c Melo is out of Denver after this year regardless…which means Denver will have to take less for him if they are going to get ANYTHING for him, point blank. ps LaLA likes the Duck Boats so they may end up here in Boston. lol.

    Teddy is right about Rose/Melo and AI/Melo. People are so ready to crown rose as the best thing since gunpowder and think that he’s ready to lead a team to a chip in only his third year, but I DON”T see it happening. Don’t get me wrong, dude is a straight up BEAST but is he really that much better than RWestbrook, NO. I don’t hear nobody praising westbrook the same way they do Rose even though they are very equal in terms of talent and accomplishments. Didn’t Rondo drop a FU*KING triple double on his a** during a seven game series a few years back, people need to slow down with all the hyping up of DRose.

Unless rose gets a 3-Point shoot (which is about Time for a pg), hes just a better westbrook! And stop overrating melo! Dude had a great team in denver and reached the CF once!!! Who cares bout melo???
