Carmelo Anthony’s Camp Pushing Harder for a Trade?

Melo’s reported “wishlist” remains the same (Knicks or Bulls), but the Nuggets are in no hurry to pull the trigger despite pressure from Anthony’s camp. ESPN reports: Over the last 72 hours, sources said, Anthony’s representatives — headed by agent Leon Rose — have been ramping up the pressure on the Nuggets to complete a deal with the Knicks or the Bulls before training camps open leaguewide next week. Sources say that Denver officials, however, are not inclined to rush into anything … But even as the Nuggets have opted to see what sort of haul can be had for their high-scoring forward, there remains strong sentiment within the organization to slow the process down in hopes of mounting one last campaign to win back Anthony’s support. The Nuggets, sources said, are clinging to the hope that Anthony might reconsider his trade-me stance once he starts hearing some Denver-friendly voices upon reporting to camp after weeks of isolation from the organization. Anthony will be greeted by the likes of head coach George Karl and trusted teammate Chauncey Billups trying to convince the 26-year-old that his current team is not far away from a return to contention in the Western Conference and that the foundation of the group that reached the West finals in 2009 should not be scrapped. Yet sources say that the message from Anthony’s camp to the Nuggets has stayed consistent: New York and Chicago are the preferred landing spots, with New Jersey and Houston also still in the conversation.”

    Bitter Nuggets!

If he leaves I bet Chauncey won’t contemplate retirement!

Melo to the Knicks + CP3 = better than the Heat.

@Z-man, I disagree. Amare, Anthony and cp3 trio wouldn’t be all that great defensively…

Houston. For Kevin Martin and Luis Scola.

  • http://thekobebeef.wordpress.com LDR4

@J There is no way that the Rockets would ship off both Scola and Martin for Melo. I could see them moving Martin but not Scola. Melo wanting to go to NY or Chi doesn’t make that much sense. Neither team has pieces they would be all that willing to move or that Nuggets would want in return in my opinion.

Martin, Budinger, Miller and some future draft picks for melo?

If this is about winning, his best option seems to be wait until his contract expires and then head to Chicago, if they have to trade away Noah and another peice, then they won’t improve all that much. Houston can be another good place for him but only if Yao is healthy. Waiting out his contract gives him the ability to see where Yao’s health is. NY is only going to be good if they can also add CP3 or another PG to the mix. So here again the wait and see approach by Melo makes more sense than pushing for a trade now. Of course that’s if he wants to win. If he just wants out of Denver, any of the teams mentioned will satisfy that, but he could easily end up on a team worse than his current team. At least Denver with Melo has a fighters chance.

Keep him out of Chicago please. We really don’t need him, unless Deng goes down.

As a Bulls fan, only DRose and Noah are untouchable.. I wouldn’t even mind shipping out Boozer and his lack of defensive effort(which obviously won’t happen, but still). All I know is, if we can FINALLY get rid of Luol Deng and his superior talent of taking millions he hasn’t earned, I’ll wear Craig Sager gear for a week

@LD4 as a bball fan o ahte to conjur up “non” bball facts for a guy wanting a trade, but with Melo saying NYC or CHI only makes me think that his fame seeking girl, wants outta DEnver.. I’m like really Melo!! NYC and CHI (who has a loaded team in which even a high scorer like Mel, won’t benefit) .. I know her has a higher ball IQ! La La wants to be famous.. Can’t do it in CO…that’s why he said what’s best for him and his family..I mean dude makes bank!! And every bball player what’s a ship! Why ruin that by going to a team that won’t win.. (Not. CHi) but NY.. I think la’s career is as factor.

To Orlando for Carter and Pietrus!

  • The D Train

I cannot fathom Denver taking back Deng’s contract. If they are asking for cap-relief, a young player and draft-picks, Deng does not fit that equation. As a Bulls fan I would like to see Carmelo in Chicago as long as Noah is not involved, but I would say there is next-to-zero chance of happening. Just because us Bulls fans want him, doesn’t make our sub-par trade offers any more enticing i the real world…and this goes for you, too, Knicks fans.

    @The Big Fun
Melo is a better defender than Bron, and CP3 avgs more steals than anybody. Granted Amare sucks at D and size wise it’s a smaller trio and they couldn’t guard both the SG&SF like the Heat could, but the best PG in the league plus a 30pg scorer and a 250lb beast in the middle would beat the Heat in a best of 7 anyday.

We now have the upper hand, Bulls fans! Denver would be hard-pressed to say no to a deal of Melo for Deng, 1st round pick and…..wait for it, wait for it…SCALABRINE! YEAH!….sarcasm, folks. When will the Melo to Chicago rumors die already? Dude’s not coming, and I’m not too shaken up about that.

  • wottywo

I see NY. Melo said before he will not sign a extension if he doesn’t go to the team he desires. Plus rumors had it that Melo, Amare, and CP3 are trying to build there on big 3 powerhouse, plus Melo’s wife hooked Amare up with with Serena Williams, so don’t be surprised if Melo go’s to NY.

Who needs ‘Melo? We got Scalibrine now. Seriously, why do people like him? He looks like one of the guys i would find playing ball at the Ymca.

Melo to NYK’s gotta happen!!!!! Missed out on bron bron, bet Donnie wont let it go down again. Be afraid the garden is back boys and girls. ……….

Melo must feel like a fool for taking that extra year on that initial extension after seeing what Bosh/Bron/Wade pulled off by less money/years.
