Delonte West Back To Boston

The signs were there if you looked close enough: the Boston Herald reported that Delonte West was apartment hunting in Waltham, and Red’s Army reported Delonte was at New England Baptist Hospital yesterday getting a pre-signing physical. Now, SI‘s Chris Mannix with the scoop: “Celtics will sign free agent guard Delonte West. West will have to sit out first ten games due to suspension for guilty plea on gun charge.”

More in the Boston Herald.

first one.. take em to the promise land Delonte

  • http://twitter.com/HarryByrdMan44 LA Huey

We all knew this would happen.

  • Jumper

Look out when MIA comes to town. I’m thinkin perhaps Bron’s mom could stay home for that one.

  • Jumper

Brons Mom: …I just want to see this particular away game in person Bron, whats with all the questions?

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

This is a huge move for the Celtics. I wish Gloria didn’t take him deep inside and he could have come to the Heat, but I think Boston is in a much better spot than Orlando and at an advantage over Miami due to familiarity. The East is going to be wild.

  • Hussman25

It’s safe to say the Eastern Conference is buzzing again… Mia v. Bos is gonna be “Must See T.V.”

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ niQ

Back to Boston! Can we expect another Lebron dunk in his face?

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

If healthy, they Celtics may be deeper than both Miami and LA. Mia vs. LA is still no guarantee.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

They should of definitely kept Tony Allen. He gave Lebron and Kobe fits.

  • Robb

@Jumper “sit your ass down mom!!!…Wait not on the Celtics bench!”

  • buckweat

He was always one of my favorite players they need him for tony allens spot. Left handed blocks on 7 footers without foul calls. Doc knows him when he gets out of control. Doc knows him. Thats what phil did with ron artest and beat the celts in game 7 which the celts should have won. But phil was the better puppet master in that game. a celtic fan just speaking the truth. The second tier players win the championships. Artest was the difference not kobe. Delonte is that trick or treat player Doc needs.

  • Red

    Haha@ Robb

The Wild Wild East. DeLonte is a huge signing for the Celts. Definitely heating up in the other conference…the West is looking a little shabby…especially if the Nuggets trade Melo, Yao isnt actually healthy and the Spurs and splitter dont mesh. Really, only Portland, Jazz, Thunder and LA are looking really nice…maaaaybe Dallas. In the east you have MIA, ORL, BOS, Bulls, ATL, Bucks all poised to be tough teams with NY joining the fray if Melo arrives and some young squads building. CANT WAIT FOR THE SEASON.

hide your wives, and your moms too!…

  • http://stapledesign.com Spaceship Jay

Hahahaha Eboy, I’m surprised that you’d describe it like that.. That’s mad vulgar yo

  • JTaylor21

DWest better be getting the vasline ready cuz bron gonna get all in his A**.

  • total scrotal implosion

Extra hot sauce in the bag. ….. How has he never be suspended for failing drug tests, he got to be dirty as hell. Maybe all his meds cover it up

  • http://aol.com Run’N'Gun219

Add another real n**ga to the team. i keep saying, this boston has to be the hoodest team of all time.i can imagine the locker room.it has to be a lot of shooting dice, cussing, and loud talking. lol i love it. but i am a laker fan

  • robz

    SOLID TEAM…nice

  • CONEY ISLANDER

    MEH…

  • T-Money

for real though, as the thing between delonte and bron’s mom ever been confirmed???

  • http://staticseth.blogspot.com Seth

@Kap, I also think losing Tony Allen hurt them a bit (mostly for his defense obviously), but at least they’ve replaced him with some offense.

  • Papa Smurf

Anyone else think Eboy’s description went a little too far? haha

  • robz

    MIAMI still d MONSTER TEAM

  • NicktheQuick

If Boston beats Miami in the playoffs, would Lebron’s two losses to Delonte West as a player and as a son be counted as a double-play?

  • Feez22

Firstly, great move for the celtics. He was the cavs best perimeter defender minus lebron, was their best post up guard and was very productive when e got to play. I’m sure that the celtics understand that they need to keep Ray allens and Kevin garnetts moms away from this gu but that’s another topic. What I really want to get into is that the signing of delonte tells me that they aren’t secure with the big 3 in miami. Sort of tells me with the signings o players like shaq j-o and delonte that the celtics are desperate to exploit the cavs weaknesses at the PG and Center spot. What this truly confirms for me is that delonte did in fact slam lebrons mom. Think about it. The heat could have signed him to a partially guaranteed contract at the minimum automatically making him te BEST PG on the team. He is muc better than chalmers and arroyo. Yet they sign big Z a declining center. That tells me it was lebrons orders o not get delonte that’s te only explanation.

  • Feez22

Btw I mean they are desperate to exploit the “HEAT’S” weaknesses at PG and Center.

  • T-Money

Feez22: Also, Delonte West is crazy, was hiding in his appartment during training camp last year, literally didn’t show up to some games, and had a sub-par season. Maybe Bron and Z didn’t want that drama in Miami? Again, I’ve never seen a rumor get so much play without ANYONE confirming it. I’m not saying he didn’t bang Bron’s mom, I’m just curious why so many people are certain he did.

  • robz

    signing big Z quite useless

  • The Philosopher

^They can’t officially say some things.
    We are talking about…
    THE KING.

  • Flight

Good pick up for the Celt’s, probably one of the underrated pick ups of the summer.

  • http://www.kwapt.blogspot.com KobeWearsAPurpleThong

Good stuff. Delonte will settle down now as he is comfortable in Boston. Beantown is a perfect fit & Ainge has always liked DWest and vice versa. This brings much needed athleticism and speed to the bench (lost that with T.A.) and a guy who can play the 1 if God help us Nate, Quis & RR get injured. Good move Danny.

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

Global West is a great pickup for the Celtics.

  • xplore

ANOTHER LOSER TO THE GREEN AND WHITE

  • Papa Smurf

Glen Davis, Nate Robinson, and Delonte West . . . have fun Doc Rivers.

  • xplore

BABY ONEAL NATE DELONTE MARQUIS THATS THE CELTICS BENCH. THEY ARE THE STRONGEST TEAM OUT THERE

  • xplore

SORRY BOUT THE MISTAKEZ IN MY LAST COMMENT

  • tavoris

excellent pick up…now they really don’t need Nate Robinson or Marquis Daniels. PLEASE get a guy that can effectively spell Pierce. Please…

  • MikeC.

@niq – it would be fitting for Lebron to dunk in Delonte’s face since it seems Delonte spent a few months dunking in Lebron’s mom’s face.

  • vtrobot

yeah REDZ, welcome back. i had a feeling this was going to happen. nice one. keep yr sh*t straight.

  • tavoris

@T-Money-Delonte West is a diagnosed bipolar dude. There is a reason for the madness.
He had a subpar season because Anthony Parker took his minutes.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ The Promise

The Celtics are by far the deepest team in the East. They don’t have a bad player on their team.

  • Ronald

I do believe that he’s one of the better “combo” guards in the league. Due to his ability and familiarity (from playing with Jameer at St. John’s) of playing with a scoring PG. So, he’s able to run an offense and score at the right moments. Of course, he is kinda crazy.

  • http://www.threadsandkicks.com.au Eduardo

    I wish it was Iverson!

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

the rumor isnt true at all.. he has a bipolar disorder and it is the reason no team wants him.. boston took the gamble, he’s gonna be very helpful when medicated.. he’s gonna be missed on the cavs but im happy for Redz.

  • scott lawson

he is bipolar, and was obviously not taking his meds when he was having all those problems. Common among sufferers to avoid taking them, because they often blanket the feelings of joy, while controlling the destructive effects of depression.

All that being said, he was solid and stable in Boston, and being traded devastated all of the young Celtics when they got traded. His game is as good as Tony… a better shooter outside, but not as cagey inside. Defensively, they were both aggressive, and good at stealing the ball.

Good move by Danny. He, Gomes and Big Al were players I liked a whole lot, and was sad to see go.

  • http://thosefishtacosarethetits.blogspot.com Boston_Blogg3r

Just hope they don’t start Jermaine. His skill set is too similar to KG’s to start at C.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

This is a great move for Delonte West on and off the court. Coach Doc Rivers will be good for him at this point in his career.

  • westeves25

Am I the only one that sees this as a wash for the C’s (Tony Allen loss). Allen was phenominal on D but horrible most nights on the offense. Delonte West is a solid Defender, and a MUCH MUCH better offensive player. I cringed every time TA drove to the basket or took a jumper. TA’s (basketball game)=Bi-Polar. Delonte West(personality)=Bi-Polar.
TA for D. West=WASH in my book. BEAT LA, BEAT LA….

  • Feez22

the thing with delonte vs. T.A. is that T.A. was a much better defender. he made lebron pretty much fumble the ball on plenty of occasions last playoffs. now delonte is also a good defender but will he make lebron fumble the ball? maybe… all he has to do is brag to lebron on how he was slamming his mom on the court. we all know lebron’s mental toughness was nonexistent in the celtics series. it will be something to watch thats for sure.

  • tavoris

Tony Allen is an active defender, but West is more adept at guarding 1′s and 2′s. If the Celtics sign a FREAKING SMALL FORWARD, then that’s a non-issue.

  • ethan

    ugh
