Don Nelson Out

The Don Nelson Era (Vol. 2) is over in the Bay. Following up on reports all over the internet the last few hours, the San Francisco Chronicle‘s Warriors Blog says:

A Warriors’ source confirmed multiple reports that the NBA’s all-time winningest coach will resign his post before training camp opens Tuesday, and assistant Keith Smart will be named interim coach.

Nelson didn’t answer his cell phone, but his message gave a nice hint: “Hi, this is Nellie. I’m busy, very busy, probably swimming with the dolphins.”

ARandolph is in a new york hotel shaking his head wishing that this could have happened years ago. Thanks Don for waiting a great talent like Randolph.

How’s David Lee going to justify that contract now? He needs 800 missed shots per game to hustle after. This is going to turn him into a taller Mark Madsen.

Long overdue Nellie was more concerned about playing with weird line-ups then winning.

would’ve liked to see what don would’ve done with this roster since it seems perfectly catered for his style, but it is what it is. at least don helped ease keith into the position last season. time to show us what you can do keith

funny clos1881. don, the coach with the most wins in league history, is more concerned about playing weird line-ups than winning. mmm hmm.

Lacob and Gruber have been gunning to replace Nelson since they bought the team in July. Unfortunately this means that I won’t ever get to see the lineup of Ellis, Curry, Lin, Udoh, Lee on the floor. *single tear* Heck, Nellie told them to hire Smart so maybe there is still hope for a small ball attack every now and then.

This team is still a star away from being a playoff team. So who cares? They’ll score, but they won’t defend and they won’t win a lot.

    Bye Bye Nellie Ball!
