Heat Supporting Cast: ‘We All Welcome the Expectations’

The bit players in this grand experiment on South Beach say they’re ready for the circus to begin. From the Herald: “This Heat season will be so much about the Big 3 — James, Wade and Chris Bosh. But the scrutiny and burden of expectations also will extend to members of the supporting cast, several of whom spoke Thursday about the adventure they are ready to begin. ‘I’m going on 11 years now, and it’s the first time I’ve laced it up in September, October and felt like I had a chance to win it all. That’s exciting,’ swingman Mike Miller said. ‘A lot of people are granting us as the champions already, and we’ve got a long, long way to go. We haven’t practiced a full practice together. We have a lot of stuff we have to get better at. If you look at the past champions, we’re just as talented as those teams,’ Miller added. ‘But there’s a lot more than talent that goes into it. A lot of sacrifice has been made, but our biggest sacrifice is yet to come.’ New Heat center Zydrunas Ilgauskas put it this way: ‘We’ll get everybody’s best shot every game. We’ll use it as motivation . . . take it as a challenge. Everybody is eager to see how we’re going to gel.’ Juwan Howard added: ‘We all welcome the expectations.’”

these supporting guys are basically old and fat relief pitchers. Throw a few strikes every few games and everyone’s happy. Maybe throw the occasional 8th inning…so really, what expectations for them? Everything is on 1) LeBron and Dwyane and 2) Bosh for wins and titles. there’s no 3.

    ^Haslem and Miller? Nah.
I’m glad the role players sound just as motivated.

if Bosh happens to grow a pair this is the best lineup; Lbj, Flash, MikeMiller, Haslen, Bosh

im really excited about their crunch time line up. it’ll force opposing coaches to make decisions on the defensive end. do they want rondo, fish or nelson to guard wade?! if not, they have to throw them on a 6’8 shooter. chris bosh will stuggle vs dwight but he can do it in short spurts. bynum won’t be a problem as he’s never on the floor in crunch time, gasol is his natural match up anyhow.

Here’s the rotation: Wade, Bron, Bosh, Miller, Chalmers (?), House, Z, Haslem, Anthony (?) and the possible the addition of Dampier. I don’t think (outside of Anthony and Chalmers) that there’s one unproven guy in that grouping.

@Trailblazing.. that’s a small line up compared to boston, magic and the lakers.. on paper.. that looks like a phoenix suns squad on steroids

  • T-Money

unrel: the thing is, haslem doesn’t get punked by 4s. I’ve seen him on Dirk, LO, KG… he holds his own. The only centers that can hurt this line up is Dwight and Yao when healthy. As I’ve said, Bynum is a non-issue.

I think Mike Miller is gonna surprise a lot of people. He’s been doing his thing for years but has had little national exposure due to playing on some crappy teams.

@ T-Money. Agreed on the matchups. If they decide to play Wade at the point, who do the Lakers match up with him? Fisher? Artest will have his hands full and they can’t leave Miller open.

You mean to tell me A.I. couldn’t make THIS team????

@CARTEL I would love to see AI with them too but the only Heat he’ll be playing for is the Shanghai Heat lol.

Let’s hope all of the big three remain healthy. Wade and Bosh tend to get injured, LBJ seesm to be the most consistent in health out of them all.
