New Orleans Hornets to Make Additional Moves?

The new coach, Monty Williams, thinks the team isn’t done moving pieces around. From the Times-Picayune: “To appease [Chris] Paul’s wishes to improve the roster, the Hornets acquired swingman Trevor Ariza from the Houston Rockets in a four-team deal that involved the Hornets sending backup point guard Darren Collison and forward James Posey to the Indiana Pacers. The Hornets also traded Julian Wright to the Toronto Raptors for shooting guard Marco Belinelli. ‘My gut feeling is that we are not done yet,’ Williams said. ‘Dell and I share information on both sides. I talk to him about players and he talks to me about things we can do. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why we work so well together. Trevor and Belinelli are pieces that will make things a little more efficient. I think Trevor is going to change the dynamics of our defense, but I’m not going to put all the pressure on him to stop guys or score 15 to 20 points every night.’ The Hornets continue to seek a backup point guard and backup center either through a trade or free agency.”

if they need a back up point guard they shouldnt of traded collinson

They need a backup center, and missed out on DJ Mbenga? ROFL

Not sure I like the mentality of “I’m not going to put the pressure on him to stop guys or score 15-20 points every night”. Ariza is now the 3rd best player on that team and being a defensive ace is his greatest strength. And with Paul handing out assists 15ppg isn’t a big ask as 3rd option on the team is it?

he should def be a 15 ppg scorer with paul on that team sn def is wat got him that contract so he should def b doing both of those things

He averaged 15 a game as Houston’s 3rd option last year. Should be able to do it with Chris Paul setting him up this year.

Who is left? Maybe they should’ve picked up some free agents before every other team had their pick

I think they need to improve at every position except the 3 and the 1… Need a bench too.

    Meka is decent

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

Agreed, Meka is decent, but I think hes better suited playing the 4, and maybe on a team that doesn’t NEED him to score all the time..

one of Okafor or West needs to be moved. i feel like they’re both planted on the ground and don’t move very well. and yes i don’t watch many games of new orleans.

I completely forgot about David West.. He was pretty quiet last year, eh?

  • JTaylor21

@BTerry, he was quiet because CP wasn’t there to get his a** easy buckets. I still can’t believe he made the all-star team a couple years back.

  • tavoris

David West did the same thing last season that he does every season. 19 points, 7.5 rebounds, and EXCELLENT percentages from the field and the line. Just because he doesn’t fly like Amare doesn’t mean he isn’t an All-Star

  • rob stewart

    Josh Boone and Sasha Vujacic

  • Dubli

    don’t ever bring up sasha

  • Towelie

Yeah, why DID they trade off Collison?

  • j

West’s numbers were almost identical to his all star years. His year was quiet because he was ALWAYS quiet. Please constantly sleep on him. I mean if we are being honest, Lamarcus Aldridge has still yet to have a better year than West, and people have been hyping Lamarcus forever.

And we traded Collison becuase we needed a starting SF a whole lot more than we needed a backup point.

  • Love4Humanity

They better do something because you better believe CP3 still has his mind set on New York.
