Omri Casspi Wants Peace in the Middle East

While politicians meet up to discuss the issues, Casspi is talking to the youth. From the Sac Bee:  “A few hours before Israeli and Palestinian leaders met in Washington, D.C., Thursday in the latest movement toward peace in the Middle East, Omri Casspi placed himself on the fringes of the conversation. At the Peres Center for Peace youth sports camp Wednesday in Jaffa, Israel, he supervised drills. He answered questions about Kobe Bryant. He scrimmaged with a girls team against a boys squad consisting of Israeli and Palestinian youngsters. Sounding at times like a diplomat and on other occasions like a coach, the Kings’ second-year forward spoke about unity and tolerance. He stressed the cultural, ethnic and political diversity of the Kings. He left the community center, he said, encouraged and better educated. ‘It was really enlightening to see kids from behind the borders, playing basketball with Israeli kids,’ Casspi said on his cell phone from his native Israel. ‘When you see something like this, you realize that it’s true, that basketball can connect people from so many countries.’”

Peace would be great but first a wall needs to be torn down.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ The Promise

I think we all would like to see peace over there man, but I don’t think it will ever happen.I’m not trying to discuss politics in any way, but the war in Iraq has done absolutely nothing to stop terrorism, or to bring peace over there. I supported the war 100 percent when we first declared war, but now I see that its just a waste of time. You get rid of Saddam Hussein, and somebody else just steps in to take his place. There will always be terrorism over there, because there are just too many of them. They are recruiting and training more soldiers every day, and I believe the conflict will only worsen as the years go by.

    @The Promise
Don’t be brainwashed by your fox news station. Terrorists aren’t just Muslims or Arabs, and to say there are “too many of them” is ignorant. Saddam never did anything To harm the states, obviously he was forming a superpower therefore the USA felt threatened. Please dont believe that CNN bullshit that they build child soldiers In Iraq. You’ve mixed it up with Afghanistan. But peace in the middle east to the streets of the t dot.

How true, my friend. Terrorism is hardwired into THEIR DNA. All WE can do is fight the good fight to spread democracy and freedom. God bless the US government, the most benevolent and truthful entity the world has ever known.

  • Frenchtoast

I really hope Tariq and The Promise are joking…
Us made war in Iraq just to have control on their oil, they dont care about civilian.
And US are letting Israel exterminate Palestian because jewish are a lot in the high society…
Dont forget Israel was Palestinian land first, what will you do if someone invade your country ?

What them say here is a peace concert. And I wonder if many people realize what peace means eh? Most people think peace means coming together seen? But peace, is, the diploma you get in the cemetary. They say, here lies the body of john strokes, rest in peace. ..-winston hubert mcintosh, one love peace concert……….. …….. Everyone is cryin out for peace yes, none is cryin out for justice. There will be no peace until man get equal rights and justice.-

  • total scrotal implosion

I bet omri is also for laughing babies, cute puppies, sunshine and rainbows….. I wonder if I had a book that said land was destined to be mine, despite being occupied by other people for thousands of years, I could just take it by force and say its gods will. Like israel now and amerikkka with manifest destiny.

  • Retrobat

@The Black Rick Kamla. You should try some of that Ben and Jerry’s Cinnamon Bun ice cream. It’ll put you in such a sugar high that it should be outlawed! Seriously…really good ish!

  • WangChung

Yo Philosopher, I’m gonna steal your thunder just this one time, but @ total scrotal: “Right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.”

Peace isn’t profitable, that’s why it will never be allowed to happen. This isn’t going to be a rant on conspiracy, instead facts. Rich people like being rich, and for that to happen and be sustained poor people have to remain poor and impoverished. Poverty breeds ignorance, ignorance breeds intolerance, intolerance breeds conflict, conflict breeds bloodshed, bloodshed breeds war, war breeds destruction, destruction breeds creation, creation breeds profits, profits breeds greed, greed breeds evil and evil runs the world.

BTW @ the underrated one, that would be a great commercial.

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

@Retrobat…I’ll keep that in mind fam! lol

  • Kendrick is God

Im pretty sure he was referring to Israeli-Palestinian relations, not Iraq and terroism.

Here in France we use the expression “narrow east” about the Israelo-palestrian situation. For Iraq and Afghanistan, we say “middle-east”.

  • total scrotal implosion

Word to all the war profiteers, from modern halliburton, bechtel, etc. To prescott bush selling weapons to germany(nzis) in ww2.

  • ike

it was palestine AFTER THE JEWs were kicked out of there by the greeks hellenists arabs christians etc. go learn your history

  • JTaylor21

My opinion on the Israel/Palestine conflict is that the Jews have EVERY right to be in that area and should protect themselves and be protected at ALL costs. Do the palestines really believe that the Jews should just pack up their bags and GO where? The Palestine are always crying about being the victims but they continue to commit suicide acts against Israel. You can’t cry wolf when you’re the wolf. It is simple if you want to live in peace, start by being peaceful yourself.

  • TonyStarks

@JTaylor21 : LOL .. What a way to summarize a conflict in less than 1 paragraph. If you sounded like you at least had a hint of what the problem was about I’d bother taking the time to provide a proper reply but with that Bullsh!t you just put up its not even worth it. Have a good night folks.

  • jammal o

JTaylor21, which side is it that has the other blockaded, is using illgeal white phosphorous bombs on civilians, and preventing medical aid and food from entering? whos the wolf?

  • Frenchtoast

@ Ike : so what your point ? because you lived somehere 2 000 years ago, you can comeback and exterminate the one living there ?

  • http://www.google.com/news BETCATS

I dont see why Omri is being mocked here. I respect people like him who try and make a difference in any type of situation like this one. It is more than any of you sh!theads do for your communities. Go ahead and laugh at him, he is a millionaire that gets plenty of sleep at night. What the hell are you?

  • MikeC.

    ^^ word.

  • MikeC.

Anybody who says “this land is our land” blah blah blah needs to check the human genome project. As of now, it states that every person in the world originates from a group of early human ancestors in Eastern Africa. These people began migrating around the world and settling, then moving and settling some more. The basic theory is that the entire history of human civilization is based on movement, settlement and more movement. Fighting over fixed pieces of land is something relatively new in the grand scheme of things. This theory doesn’t help those who have bombs dropped on them in their sleep (on either side of the wall), but it does make every conflict in history seem ridiculous in hindsight.

  • MikeC.

^^ That post wasn’t about any specific nation or culture. Humans fight over ridiculous stuff every day all over the world.

  • The Philosopher

You and I can talk, when concerning the human genome project.

  • MikeC.

^^ I’m all ears. Actually, I’m all eyes here. My interest in the topic is based on an issue that rears its ugly head on a regular basis here in Canada. There are many Aboriginal land claim disputes between Native tribes and the Canadian government. The government does what it can to appease the tribes without actually giving up anything real. The tribes use whatever means they have to stand up for themselves without resorting to violence. It’s a circular dance that resolves nothing. If it was proven without a doubt that every human migrated from one point in the world, then nobody anywhere has any real land claim. The only claim anyone has is “I was here before you”, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that person was “here” first. It’s fascinating to me because it’s such a pressure point here in Canada.

  • The Philosopher

    ^^I’ll be honest.
I thought you were going in a different direction… (maybe you still are)
    But, I agree with you.
If certain things were proven, things may be much different.
There are many theories and ideas out there.
