Polladaday: Motown Resurgence?

The Pistons added TMac and retained its core this summer. Could they reach the postseason in ’10-11?

Will the Pistons hit the Playoffs this season?

I love the Pistons, but this high school roster of 8 guards and 4 sf’s won’t cut it. Joe D’s gotta make some moves.

This Pistons team to me has no direction what so ever. Rip and Tay should be outta there before the deadline hopefully. And whats the name of their coach again ?

John Kuester, the guy pretty much solely responsible for giving the Cavs actual offense on their way to lead the league in wins in 08-09?

Rip, T-mac, Ben Gordon. All capable starting shooting guards on the same team. Even writing that feels weird.

That AI trade messed the Pistons up.

    *Pouring out some liquor*

@niQ: It’s like the Pistons have become the Timberwolves of the East right now – a team without a compass. Uh oh, I put the Pistons in the same sentence as the Timberwolves. smh

@melvin ely, I hope that was a joke because the Cavs pretty much played the same and got pretty close to the same win total without him in ’09-’10

They have talent, but no superstar, and no decent bigs. Greg Monroe is a a couple years away from being a solid player, and they can’t keep playing Ben Wallace 40 minutes per night. Rip and Tayshaun Need to go too…get a big and/or a true PG. I actually wouldn’t mind shopping Stuckey either. He’s a nice player, but he’s not a PG and he’s not a franchise player despite what Joe D seems to think.

That being said, I think they could MAYBE squeak into the 8th spot in the east. We’ll see though.

Surprised at these results. With all that talent (Rip, Tayshaun, Stuckey, Villanueva, Ben Gordon, TMac, W. Bynum, etc…), top eight in the East is such a stretch?

@ Adam – yeah, but most of the talent they have is in overlapping poritions. Charlie V is really the only one who doesn’t have someone that is his equal or better than him at the same position.

@Wayno I don’t know, a starting 5 of Stuckey, Rip, Tayshaun, Villanueva and B. Wallace with a bench of W. Bynum, Ben Gordon, TMac, Austin Daye, Greg Monroe and Jonas Jerebko looks like a roster that could get to the East Playoffs with a 6-8 seed pretty easily, I think.

Anyone who writes ‘if T-Mac returns to his old form’ will be taken out back.

Hahaha. They won’t have a shot til they move half their roster for some balance.

@Adam, the talent is (kinda) there, but the chemistry, roles, and direction of the team are totally missing. Only the Raptors and Timberwolves are more lost than Detroit. If they crack 30 wins, I’d be shocked.

Pistons as a 6th seed??! A 6th seed?! Over who?? Celtics, Magic, Heat, Hawks and Bulls are virtual locks. Bucks can be penciled in. Are the Pistons gonna have a better year than the Bobcats, Cavs, Pacers, Knicks, Nets? Maybe some of them but not all of them.
