Bulls Sign Joakim Noah to Extension: 5 Years, $60 Million

by Marcel Mutoni / @marcel_mutoni

Following months of negotiations (not to mention, trade rumors) the Chicago Bulls and Joakim Noah have agreed on a contract extension. Noah will be a Bull for a long time, something he will be well compensated for.

The deal is worth $60 million over the next 5 years, and includes performance-based bonuses. Joakim is coming off the best season of his young career, one that saw him average a double-double.

ESPN and Chicago Breaking Sports report:

The deal is worth $60 million plus additional bonuses, Dan Fegan, one of Noah’s agents, said. “We’re very happy for Joakim because Chicago was always his first choice,” Fegan said.

The exact amount of the extension is unknown but believed to be in the $60 million range total. Incentives can take the deal higher, and a source said the inclusion of these incentives represented the breakthrough in negotiations. Sources said earlier published reports portraying the negotiations as acrimonious or far apart were overblown.

With Chicago retaining Noah — one of the best young forwards in the League — it helps solidify the fact that they’ll be a force to be reckoned with in the NBA over the next few years.

The Bulls just gotta figure out how to stop their star players from injuring themselves in the absolute strangest ways.

Hec, there certainly are medical uses, that is undeniable. However, nbk is citing very limited ‘studies’ as unequivocal truth, and thats not how science works nbk

I wasn’t comparing weed to alcohol in the sense of which one is worse for your body.
I was noting that both of them are substances that impact brain function and motor skills and for one to be legal, while the other is illegal seems a little strange. I don’t think weed is on the same level as other illegal drugs, and I’m well aware of the hemp back story, so I have a good idea why it’s illegal.
Basically, I’m not positive about NBK’s medical studies, but I do reject the moral argument that weed is horrible in all forms. However, I think that if you’re an NBA player and you regularly consume an illegal substnace just for personal enjoyment then you are placing yourself and your team in a bad spot and you should catch heat.
    Sorry I wasn’t clearer.

unequivocal truth? when did i say that? i was just citing one specific study, considering its the biggest of its type i thought it would get the most respect. Just database studies similar, there are plenty of resources out there with recent relevant information.
