Cavs to Bring Antawn Jamison Off the Bench?

The Plain Dealer reports that Jamison may reprise his former role of sixth man in Cleveland this season; “Looking more likely that Antawn Jamison will come off bench for Cavs, as he did when he won 6th Man of the Year with Dallas in 2005.”

why not just trade him? its not like they are going to build around him, let him go to a contender and win a chip.

    1) he’s too old (34)
    2) his contract’s too big (20 million over the next 2 years)
    3) what sort of contending team would have enough assets and would take the risks necessary to make the trade for him?

It’s not like anyone’s ever built around him, whatchoo talkin about?

It’s not like they have a lot of options other than him!

they have. mo williams is a pretty good offensive player and hickson too if he is ready to contribute regularly. varejaro could be a good fit for the 5 spot and moon is a very good wing n parker is a good 2 guard tho he is past his best years. jamison and gibson could provide a nice offensive push off the bench but i dont think they are more than a lottery team. the best case scenario is the 8th spot and then they ll be swept in the first round.

This cleveland team will be last years nets team…and byron scott wont last the season.

Id rather see us outside the playoffs and have a chance to a higher lottery pick than be on the 8th spot, get swept and fall to a lower draft pick. Though I believe were still competitive to get around 30-35 wins. We have a great foundation with Scott. The organization will stick with him I believe.

We don’t have a legit 1st option on offense. This move is to develop Hickson more. Antawn is too slow for SF since we’ll be running at a faster pace. JJ will be too small for a center so this move makes good sense.

And.. It will be too damn hard to trade either Antawn and Mo now, our too biggest contracts. Who would want them at this moment?

Seriously, who cares about the Cavaliers right now? They should have went with Amar’e instead. They wouldn’t find themselves in deep sh!t and Dan Gilbert wouldn’t have to write that funny hate letter.

Wow. Anyway, the Cavs will be lucky to win 30-35 games this season. It’s going to take a long time for them to get back to relevancy. After Dan Gilbert’s letter about LeBron, no star player is going to want to play for him.

J beat me to it. I knew this was coming because the Cavs are really impressed with JJ Hickson and wanna give him the starting job. Also, @VisionofGreatness – BEFORE Gilbert’s letter to LeBron, no star player wanted to play for Cleveland. Even when LeBron was there. Shaq don’t count, he basically goes wherever he thinks he’s got the best shot of getting a title and where he hasn’t burned bridges yet (which is why both LA and Miami were out of the question for him this offseason)

    isn’t this also called tanking?

I dont think the Cavs are gonna be as bad as everyone thinks.. With Bron gone, the rest of the team will have like 40 extra shot attempts.. Yeah, they will still suck, but not 09-10 Nets suck..

Cavs will be turrible and fight raptors for no1 draft pick. Jamison might get trade, but cavs better be ready to accept crap in return. Related: im still boggled that no contenders have traded for rip hamilton or tayshaun. They would be great on a better team.

Juks: He’s too slow to be a SF. Moon would likely be on that role.
Tarzan: I’d be happy to get crap in exchange for Twan’
