Dwyane Wade Leaves Game With Leg Injury

by Tzvi Twersky | @TTwersky

Dwyane Wade’s partnership with LeBron James and Chris Bosh got off to a less than thrilling start.

Three minutes into tonight’s game against Detroit, the preseason opener for both teams, Dwyane Wade suffered a strained right hamstring.

He did not return to the game, though the severity of the injury has yet to be determined.

In his absence, the Heat went on to win, 105-89.

Chris Bosh led all scorers with 20 points. LeBron James chipped in 18 of his own in 27 minutes.

Miami’s next game is not until Friday night, when they meet up with Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Looks like it’s going to be a good season for the Heat

  • JTaylor21

Come on people, it was a minor hamstring pull nothing to get all riled up for.

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

Gee, it’s gonna be hard for the Heat to find another guy who can carry the load while Wade is out for a week of meaningless preseason games. LOL.

  • http://www.threadsandkicks.com.au Eduardo

He’ll be back strong. It’s only a minor injury.

  • http://www.dimemag.com Royal

I’m pretty sure he will come back strong, but I have heard of some hamstring injuries that linger for a while. Best of luck to D-Wade.

  • MikeC.

@Royal – Yeah, Carlos Boozer had a pulled hamstring for like 4 years.

  • JTaylor21

Good one but in reality Boozer has being injured since his first day out of the womb.

  • JoNaBo

    Karm…

  • KB8toSG8

Hope D-Wade comes back 100%. No reason to come earlier….that would only mean more injuries over the course of the season.

LOL at D-Wade’s last comment. Really made my day.

  • KB8toSG8

BTW, the comment was at ESPN. That was really funny though.

    One down…two to go

  • http://twitter.com/HarryByrdMan44 LA Huey

I’m about as concerned with this as I am Kobe’s “60% knee”. This won’t matter when it really matters.

  • JoeMaMa

Pre-season: where sitting out games because you had a nightmare/an ingrown hair happens. This is nothing.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

    Bron is the pointguard.

  • The Fresh Prince of Nsam

    Boozer, O’neil, Wade…

  • http://slamonline.com Yknot

And yet they were up by 20 at halftime. They look like 2K11 on the court. Lol.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

They were playing the damn Pistons who have ten guards are their roster and two forwards. It doesn’t take much to look impressive against the Pistons especially when TMAC is checking Lebron.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

    Die hater.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Gee….I wonder if Kap used that same logic when talking about the Lakers getting their as*es handed to them by the Wolves two nights ago. Yeah, thought so, moron.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

And any loser (Kap) that wishes injury on ANY player is a scumb*g. Yes, that means you Kap. But fear does that to puss*es. I may hate the Lakers, but I’d never wish those guys ill health, if anything, I want them full strength so there’s no excuses from bitc*es like you.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

Chill out guy. I plan on bashing the Heat for the next five years so get use to it.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Good, don’t say sh*t like that and you won’t get bashed in return.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

BTW…Pittman looked like a legitimate NBA center last nite. I wasn’t expecting that from him.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Eboy is lashing out because he’s testicles vanished when Wade came up gimpy. I know you damn near pooped your pants homie. Lol.
Hope it’s not serious because I want to see history dammit.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Royal

EBOY: Yoy have to admit it sort of sad seeing a once dominant t-mac somewhat get dominated by Lebron….

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

You’re so wrong, it’s ridiculous, Allen. I was hopeful of nothing long-term but I also know that Dwyane is a great actor. I liked Lebron doing everything for a couple of quarters anyway. Clearly showed how much greater he is than anyone else in the league.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

^^^^^everyone except Wade and Bryant and soon to be Durant because he still can’t shoot.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

    1. LeBron will dominate as a point. 2. Spo, plans to attack faster. 3. Pittman should crack the rotation over Juwan Howard. 4. I have no problems with the roster, but I want to see how the frontline will do against a team with a legit center. 5. I’m glad to see no dancing on the bench, but I have to admit I miss the chalk toss.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

Shout out to the Howard Bison…

  • http://nba.com/cavaliers Stephon

@J Lebron still does the chalk toss he did it last night in the Pistons game.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Uhm…Kap, Lebron does EVERYTHING….Wade does it too except not quite as good….Kobe doesn’t do it all, he’s the primary scorer in the
Triangle, not that he can’t, but it doesn’t work to the Lakers advantage to have him try to be a volume rebounder and facilitator of offense when The Triangle dictates the offenses pace. KD is not even in the same zip code as those guys…he’s one-dimensional, except his one dimension is just as good as all those guys. He’s nowhere near the overall player those three are. We’ll see how he does Friday when he has to go up against Bron firsthand.

Last night showed me how much of a tool Mike Brown is. You mean to tell me that playing a running game would be a good idea with LeBron freaking James on your team? / I also love how they are getting all kinds of deflections on the perimeter, active hands and feet. They’re going to be a monster defensively on the perimeter.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

Is that game gonna be televised? Because I bet Bron is gonna have a point to prove the first two quarters of that game. I wanna how Bosh plays against Ibaka(breakout year) as well.

  • T-Money

E: I’m all confused with the rotations now. Seems like Spo has no time at all for old, slow, plodding bigs. I thought the bench would be Miller, Haslem, House, Z and Arroyo for spot minutes but it looks more like Miller, Haslem, Arroyo, Pittman(!) and Jones for spot minutes. Spo wants to play really fast.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Kap, I think it’s only a local broadcasted game.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

T-Money, House is nursing a shoulder problem that will keep him out another few days. I think he’s a shoe in for minutes. I was surprised that Z wasn’t used, but I think Spo will be experimenting. I think they’ll roll 10 guys all season.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

Stephon- really? Maybe I missed that.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

To keep minutes down on Wade, Bron and Bosh, especially if they can have games like last night a couple times a week.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

J….he did, but it was very muted and nowhere near as theatrical as it was in Cleveland. I think that’s the trend they’ll (he’ll) be going with….all business.

  • T-Money

See after seeing James Jones last night.. I’m not sure House is a shoo-in for minutes, you certainly can’t play both and Jones gives you more or less the same stuff at 6’7.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

T-Money, I think House could play the same type of role Lil Nate did for the Celts last year in the playoffs, come in and win a quarter in a game or three with timely shooting. He doesn’t have to play 20 minutes a night to be effective.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

Actually I don’t have a problem if Arroyo starts. He played very nice last game, and seems to be very mature now coming off Worlds. Doesn’t try do too much now.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

    eboy
damn that sucks. I actually enjoyed watching the Heat play last nite even though I hate #6 and #1. I forgot their names.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

E.. Yeah he seems to be all bussiness now than ever before.
T-money.. I trust House more than Jones in terms of instant shooting. But I get yo point. He gives up so much length on D that Jones have. Though both arent good defenders, it makes more sense to put a taller guy since scoring won’t be much of a problem when you have Chalmers/Arroyo in the backcourt.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

Also I think Chalmers could be as effective as House in that instant-shooting role since he won’t have to do much more than that.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

I expect him to go back acting like a goofball when they start reeling off 15 game winning streaks like it ain’t notihng.

  • T-Money

Kap: you wanna see how Bosh does vs Ibaka? you want Bron to show and prove vs Durant? lol. It’s the other way around, mayne.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

anybody else notice how slim and active haslem looked? that’s should scare people cause homie is WET from midrange, and if he’s feeling good inside, it’s a problem. He might be my favorite role player in the league, followed by Hinrich.

  • T-Money

Pat Riley should release fitness DVDs and books for real. The guy just does not tolerate fatsos. EVERYONE on the roster looks slimmer and quicker. Even Mike Miller shed some fat.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

^ I’ve seen a slim Eddie House in training camp too.

  • JTaylor21

T-Money is right about Mr. Potato Head refusal to speed up the tempo when the cavs had bron even Barkley had been saying that for the past 4 years but it seemed like brown had his ears plugged with spuds.

  • http://sdklff.com Jukai

Shocked Z didn’t play, but if Pittman plays as well as he did, oh well!

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

I think Mike Brown wasn’t convinced the other players on that squad could play solid defense and run. don’t know if this was true, but most great defensive teams do not run that often. At least not in this day and age, and Brown was of the San Antonio school of basketball.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

You guys seen the annual GM survey? It has KD as player to start a franchise with and only 68% of GM think LBJ is best small forward in the NBA while Kobe is best SG at 86%. Even LBJ lost popularity with the GMs

  • T-Money

Popularity is the operative word here. If you would have done the same survey on July 1, the results would have been different. It doesn’t make sense to acknowledge that Bron is the best SF but you’d rather start a franchise with KD. Bron is 25 and has at the very least a decade left to his career.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Anyone that thinks Kobe is THAt far ahead of Dwyane just needs to sit somewhere with a bottle of pills and off themselves. Seriously.

  • T-Money

Brandon Jennings got one for best pure shooter.

  • T-Money

E: to be fair, the rankings can’t capture how close players are. It can only tell you that the vast majority of GMs think Kobe is better than D-Wade but not by how much.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

Wade is a mini Lebron with no long range jumper. Kobe just has been in the game so long. It’s like comparing the Dodge Challenger SRT (Wade) to a Ford Mustang Cobra (Kobe). One is newer, quicker, and more powerful while the other is a legend, durable, and still gets the job done no matter what.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

    Eboy
Wade got no votes for Best perimeter defender which I was suprised about.
