Former Celtic Charles Smith Was Shot

Luckily, Smith survived the shooting yesterday. TBD reports: “Law enforcement sources have identified the man shot in a Bowie home Thursday as 42-year-old Charles E. Smith IV, a one-time Georgetown University basketball star and former NBA player. One source said the shooting could have stemmed from a gambling debt. Smith’s wounds are not considered life-threatening, the sources said. He remains hospitalized.”

    @chiqo – Nicely done. A similar joke flashed through my mind when I saw the headline, but I figured I should read the article first to make sure dude was still alive before I trotted out a blocked shot joke. However, I wonder if the shooter pump faked a dozen times before pulling the trigger.

    the blurb said he survived, so i figured it was fair game. after reading that he was shot twice in the chest, i probably should have exercised some restraint. oh well.

    I believe this is actually the Charles Smith who played briefly for the Celtics and T-Wolves. So while the jokes are hilarious, they (and the headline) appear to be inaccurate.

    hey, you tell me charles smith, knick, 40s, who else am i supposed to assume? i love how the initial report said it was a man in his 60s. someone was only off by a couple of decades.
