Gilbert Arenas: Already Injured?

From Yahoo!: “Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas sat out Saturday’s training camp practice with a ‘tweaked’ right ankle while the rest of the team practiced in the dark due to a power outage. Arenas, who also sat out Friday’s practice with leg soreness, was able to play in the team’s scrimmage later that night. ‘Gil went last night, but tweaked his ankle, so he did not go today,’ coach Flip Saunders said.”

He’ll be right. Btw, Yao ‘tweaked’ his ankle 2 or 3 days ago. He’s fine apparently though.

Lets hope nothing serious. Anyway, I believe Gilbert could nicely fit the “two” spot only if he could harness the skills on the defensive end of the floor.. He has good body strength, footspeed and veteran knowledge to be atleast an acceptable defender in that position. If he do, height would not be that much of a factor. Hinrich, Redz and Wade are biggest examples.

J – since Gil is playing on the same team as Kirk, there’s no excuse for being at least a ‘decent’ defender. Just comes down to effort.

Henrich is incredibly strong and has ridiculous lateral speed and great hands. Wade has a vertical leap that allows him to erase the height advantage and the two guards nowadays simply don’t post. Not sure who Redz is, but the point is, it takes more than effort. Arenas can be better, though, no doubt.
