Jermaine O’Neal to Sit Out a Week

The Celtics have elected to shelf O’Neal and his creaky bones for a few days to rest his hamstring. The Boston Herald reports: “The Celtics center, who pulled his left hamstring towards the end of Friday’s practice, is not expected to play for the rest of the week, thus missing the Celtics’ first two games Wednesday in Manchester against the Sixers and Thursday in Newark against the Nets. ‘I was coming down with a rebound and started to turn when it happened,’ he said. ‘It’s funny, in all these years I’ve never had one of these.’”

There’s gonna be a lot of pieces with the words ‘Celtic’ and ‘injury’ around this season.

The Celts need to secure a playoff spot early and then rest their guys as much as possible. If healthy, they have a legit shot at beating anybody.

Why was Baby ever worried about playing time? I hope this team doesn’t set a record for most games missed by injured old people. They seem pretty young at heart these days, so hopefully that will carry them far this season. Would love to see these guys get one more ring now since the window is really one year and not 2. Things might be messy by next year.
