Lakers Limiting Kobe Bryant to 16 Minutes

During the remainder of the preseason, Phil Jackson will not allow Kobe to play anymore than 16 minutes while he recovers from knee surgery. From the OC Register: “Phil Jackson acquiesced to Kobe Bryant’s request to re-enter the Lakers’ loss in Barcelona. That didn’t go well, and Jackson said Saturday he would talk to Bryant about it. Jackson said Monday one way he’ll adjust that situation is limiting Bryant’s playing time in upcoming exhibition games while his surgically repaired right knee gets stronger. He played 25 minutes in Barcelona, but Jackson said 16 minutes is enough now — which would mean Bryant going for eight minutes to start each half. ‘Any more than that right now is expecting a little too much,’ Jackson said.”

Man, Kobe needs to stop faking all these injuries. Excuses incase he doesn’t win ANOTHER ship’. You know what i mean JTaylor?

they’ve been losing games like they don’t care…
oh wait its just pre season wait til they get their rings when they beat the Rockets :)

  • Benjy

Yeah, he needs excuses. It’s not like he’s been a major part of 5 rings, and is the reigning 2-time Finals MVP. Maybe the fact that he’s played 13 years has something to do with his injuries. Yet he’s still going strong. It’s preseason. It doesn’t matter.

  • http://gmail dirty frank

Yeah. Now the coach is in on it.

  • VisionofGreatness

Do people forget that he’s been in the league since he was 17? He’s now 32. A lot of miles on him. He’s not faking lol. Idiots. Let the Kobe hate continue.

  • JTaylor21

Finally JamestheBaller has come out of the darkness that’s known as laker nation and seen the light.

  • KB2412345

I can’t believe Phil is going along with Kobe’s fake injuries. ^^ I love being in the awful darkness and obscurity of winning 3 rings in a row…

  • KB8toSG8

@JTaylor……Haters gonna hate. That’s all I’m gonna say man. And hey, he’s atleast not like some defected “Prince” who whines about a sore elbow when there’s nothing wrong with it. Maybe whiners/losers can symphatize with whiners/losers.

Kobe needs to rest, I actually wish he didn’t play in any of the preseason games, only practices at full speed. Kobe has been playing since 17 in the NBA, all of his counterparts are not even in the top 10 discussion or top 20 discussion anymore. Kobe has kept himself in shape and still can be considered the best player in the league. All I know is Kobe is ready and I expect him to go all out to win his second three peat to tie you know who. BOOK IT!!!

  • KB8toSG8

And before you give any sort of foolish reply, first get me proof that LeBron’s elbow REALLY was injured during the playoffs. Until then, he’s just a whining narcissistic baller who just couldn’t admit he sucked. Now really….he couldn’t feel the pain when he was dunking now did he? Or when he did those chase blocks? Yet, it only pained when he lost the game eh? ish. And guess what, Kobe never faked injuries unlike Le…. Why am I even defending Kobe? Continue the hate my friend. The more you hate, the more you look like a R E T A R D.

  • Robb

Why do you people keep arguing with JTaylor? it’s such a waste of time.

Shannon Brown is pretty capable of holding down the SG until Kobe gets healthy. His jumper has looked good during the preseason and training camp.

  • Jer Dawg

I thought the surgery would’ve helped already and he wouldn’t be limited. I hoped he would be ready to chase the regular season MVP trophy once again. But I won’t be greedy and short-sighted. It is all about the playoffs and i’ll remember what some one told me; I won’t start watching until March. Lakers will lose easy games, they will win against top tier teams, they will lose to Portland Blazers @Portland. They may not even get #2 or #1 seed this year. Unless, Lamar Odom has the most complete & consistent season since his 1 year in Miami with Dwyane Wade. Always will be about Lamar and his play that will make the Lakers great. And it’s no disrespect to what KB and Pau provides. Lamar is like the NoS for your high performance exotic car; it isn’t fair.

It’s preseason. Why do you guys care. I only feel bad for the people who paid money to see him play.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

Jer Dawg…You don’t sound at all like a Lakers fan. You don’t watch until March? Lower than #2 seed? I’m disappointed…

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

Odom is a goood all around team player, but I won’t say he’s the guy who makes or breaks the Lakers season. The two most important players on the Lakers are Kobe and Pau, period. Look at the Lakers record before they traded for Pau Gasol during the Post Shaq Era, and then compare it to the record with Gasol. Count playoffs and reglur season, and then get back to me about how important Lamar Odom is… no disrespect though, because I like how much of a team player LO is.

  • unrel

@kap.. i think he was quoting someone else.. but.. it’s preseason.. who cares?

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

Its a fact that when Odom plays great that the Lakers are unbeatable

  • Blackphantom

I agree with this move. Gosh i find it stupid that all these haters are saying Kobe’s faking his injuries, how idiotic.

  • http://sdklff.com Jukai

Only nine messages until we brought up Lebron! Congrats Slam!!

  • Dar

Yeah, why risk it.. no need..

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

LO was never the Robin to Kobe’s Batman, in fact that role was finally filled by Pau Gasol. It’s also important to note, that LO actually plays better not having to be the #2 guy for Kobe, in fact I’d say LO plays MUCH better as the #3 guy – because his game is very unselfish and garbage man like. These are FACTS, not opinion. But hey, if you want to give LO credit by saying the Lakers are unbeatable when he’s focused and plays well, by all means be my guest, but the bottom line is the Lakers are contenders as long as they have Batman and Robin, aka Kobe and Pau. Without a great bigman, Kobe is not winning championships, he’s getting bounced in the first round with LO.

  • http://google c_cantrell

    boring………

  • Blackphantom

Co-sign Orange. The years before Pau simply prove they’d lose in the firs-second round every time. before Pau(and some others like Bynum, S. Brown, Farmar) The only very good players on LA were Lamar & Kobe

  • KB8toSG8

I think AB and LO can fill Pau’s void skill wise but not his consistency or his durability. One can say Pau’s game is the essence of LO’s and AB’s game mixed into one and it complements very well to the assassin like game of KB. I’d rather someone select other superheros other than Batman and Robin…..
