Listening to Kevin Garnett is Good for Your Career

Celtics rookies would be wise to listen to KG, as his coach tells of former teammates who suffered as result of failing to do so. From the Boston Herald: “He helps the ones he likes,’ Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. ‘Kevin’s great, and I won’t use names, but Kevin tries to help every big that comes in here. If that big doesn’t listen to him one time, then he’ll never listen to him again. Literally. And that has happened a couple of times, and it’s been good for that guy. Now those two guys he did that to are no longer here, and that may be one of the reasons. If you’re not going to listen to Kevin when he’s trying to help you, then you probably messed up. But that’s Kevin. You talk about the Celtic Way, then just say Kevin Garnett and you’re pretty much there, because everything he does and says is about the team. The thing about Semih is that he didn’t think Semih was showing, his angles were bad, and it was affecting the team, and that’s what this was about.’ To Rivers’ earlier point about past teammates who didn’t listen, a post-practice session between Garnett and former C’s center Patrick O’Bryant from two years ago still comes to mind. Garnett spent the entire time dunking over the blank-faced O’Bryant and shouting, ‘Do you feel me?’ O’Bryant, who played very little and is now out of the NBA, obviously didn’t feel Garnett.”

Hmmm. Do what KG says or get out of the league. Sounds about right.

Doc must love it. He’s got a PF who doubles as big man coach/maniac on the roster.

I love KG to death. He was my favorite player when I was in HS. But I can’t lie: he’s a frontrunner, he picks his spots to act tough. Calderon? OK Duncan? Nope. Big Baby? OK. Shaq? Nope. LO? OK. Sheed? Nope. Luol Deng? OK. Kobe? Nope.

  • Heals

My money is on the Ticket anyday Robb…

KG is nothing but a punk. Hope he gets hurt this year.

  • vtrobot

calderon, calderon, calderon, pierce’s wheelchair, rondo’s wack shot, STFU!!!! it’s all going to add up to a championship again and that’s going to make you hate KG and the C’s even more. hope he gets hurt. what are you, 12 years old? everybody on the hater’s teams are all timmy d’s and grant hills, right? admire the man’s determination and focus and stop whining and get over the fact that he wasn’t nice to one of the dudes in the poster on your wall during a game. they’re grown men. they can deal with it. I don’t understand why so many people on this site can’t. the ONLY thing stopping KG and this team from championships now is health. other teams alone can’t stop them. i hope the MIA circus come to town on opening night and gets embarrassed and the tone gets set for the season.

  • Love4Humanity

Wow Papa Smurf. Hope you get hurt this year

kg would kick your ass n use u to mop up your own blood b*tch.. gtfoh

  • vtrobot

no one who stays in MINNY that long is a front runner. it’s the same KG that’s it’s always been. please define a “front runner” player for me. that term really means the person leading or it can mean a “fair-weather fan.” help me understand what a front-running player is. is it someone who acts tougher than they actually might be? yeah, KG is that, along with 90% of the L. is it someone who takes the easiest path to success? KG definitely ain’t that. the hate with humor on these boards is OK (i do it), but the humorless, undeserved hate happens too much and gets old. KG ain’t Oak, but he’s not some straight up b*tch either. only two more weeks until we can discuss real games. peace.

KG once mushed Duncan in the face. I don’t see how it gets anymore disrespectful than that.
Like most predators, KG focuses on the weak and infirm, isolates them from the herd, and kills them…
    It’s perfectly natural…

  • Papa Smurf

KG’s going to get so mad after he reads my posts, he’s going to go out and slap the first midget he sees.

KG don’t want it with James Johnson! Seriously though, wishing injury on athletes is just wrong. Anways, I was a big KG fan until the Bulls-Celtics series that has been talked about to death in today’s Derrick Rose article. I HATED KG after that series – and he didn’t even play in that series!

see this is why people should stfu if they only seen him when he was playing with the C’s, back when he was with minny he jawed at EVERYBODY YOU JUST MENTIONED THAT HE WOULDNT.

  • http://www.twitter.com/jtrain73 Jono

This guy is crazy. Totally insane, completely shamless (more so than 50 tyson). Undoubted one of my fav players. If my Nuggets fall flat on their face again, I’m defintely following the Celtics in the playoffs. Then the new season will start again and I will hope the Nuggets will win. But they won’t. And I’ll follow the Celtics in the playoffs again.

  • Michael

co sign riggs, Ive seen KG go at most of those people when he was at minny. Dont you remember him and kobe getting into it.

  • http://www.nba.com Clay Fisher

LOL @ Anton. KG is a team guy, it really can’t hurt your career to listen to him.

  • qasclk

    Lebron James anyone?

  • Justin

vtrobot…Actually, the only thing stopping the Celtics from a title is the Lakers

@ justin: i hope we get to see if that’s truly accurate. peace.

I love the “Do you feel me” comment. However, it does surprise me that rooks don’t listen to KG’s advice, one of the best PFs ever…….kinda sad and shocking to hear that.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

It’s not that shocking with O’Bryant. That dude never really liked basketball. You could tell by watching him. he just played because he’s tall and it’s a good way to make money.

  • Towelie

    “Earl Boykins is beastin’ it.

Charlie Villanueva is getting into a hairy situation”

“Do you feel me?” i chortled on that one, while drinking some ice tea. Needless to say, the tea came outta my nose… Gahhh, brain freeze. Damn you and your awesomeness, KG.
