Luis Scola Admits He’s Tired

The Rockets forward said a summer of international basketball left him fatigued at the start of training camp. From the Houston Chronicle: “Forward Luis Scola had said he began training camp tired after a challenging summer schedule with the Argentina national team but that the feeling did not slow him on the floor. That could come. Scola said he usually does not feel the impact of a summer schedule until midseason, but typically pushes through the fatigue and finds a second wind. ‘Usually what happens is in the beginning of the season I feel good,’ Scola said. ‘In the middle of the season, I get a bad time, and then I pick it back up. Usually at this part of the year I’m OK. I feel good. I just need to get back to team shape, NBA shape, get used to all the rules and the teammates and the system.’”

    That’s what you get for playing in an irrelevant tournament and for a crumpy a** gold medal. The world championship is a useless tournament and a waste of every player’s time.

    @JTaylor – The World Championship isn’t a useless tournament. It shouldn’t be played by professionals though. FIBA comp should go back to amateurs from every country.

    @JTaylor21 – that’s a pretty narrowminded comment. Tourneys like the FIBA one mean a lot to many players — especially the international ones who are proud to ball for their country. If it really was a “waste of every player’s time”, do you think these players would give up their summers to play in them?

  • ok

    @M Cho – cosign..

  • ok

    Why does anyone have a problem with the World Championships? It was exciting basketball in the summer when usually theres no basketball on tv.. We got to see talented players outside of the NBA bring their game against the stars.. it was great!

    @M Cho very ignorant comment! don’t you guys feel any pride for your country?? What makes the NBA season more important than your country honor? (besides money)

  • Luiyo

    its sorta true though, that the tournament didn’t mean that much cause some countries didn’t send their best players..(spain, no pau gasol), (usa, no lebron,kobe,wade,melo)..but never the less it was fun to watch at a time where there was no other basketball to watch

    it was a fun tourney, plus winner is automatically in the olympics, so its kinda important.

    Jtaylor would prefer to think of his franchised NBA team as World Champions rather than, you know, actual countries which make up the world.
