Martell Webster Hoping to Avoid Back Surgery

Doctors will let Webster know of his fate today, as he understandably doesn’t want to go under the knife. From the Star Tribune: “Martell Webster’s going back to the doctor today for a second opinion that could possibly involved surgery on a back injury that he initially termed muscle spasms. ‘It’s definitely not long term,’ Webster said before saying surgery will be a topic discussed at the doctor’s. ‘I’m waiting and keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe not, ‘ he said, meaning surgery might not be required. ‘We’re going to take it one step at a time. I’m not going to come back until I’m fully ready because I don’t want to make the problem chronic.’ Both Webster and Kurt Rambis said there’s no way he plays Wednesday.”

This sucks, I was looking forward to seeing what Webster would do with increased PT and responsibility as a veteran on a young Wolves outfit. This means more minutes for Wes Johnson and Corey Brewer in the short term though.

As A Blazer fan, I can say he’s a hellava player when healthy.. Is it just me or is there more off season (training camp, pre season) injuries, than any other in recent memory?
