The Miami Heat’s Home Opener Isn’t Sold Out

Despite the unrelenting hype surrounding this team — to say nothing of the rivalry implications with their opponent — Miami’s first home game still has plenty of tickets available for fans to purchase. From ESPN: “The Heat say they still have several hundred tickets left for their home opener vs. Orlando [tonight].”

ESPN failed to mention that the tickets that are available are STANDING ROOM ONLY seats, seats they only have sold in the past for the NBA Finals and several Bulls games late in Michael’s career, including Bulls/Heat playoff games. That’s the deal.

They also just put those SRO seats on sale yesterday.

  • wouldnt u like to know

If i lived n MIAMI, basketball would be the furthest thing from my mind too!!!

It’s not interesting if they told is it’s standing room only

I went to a Wizard/Heat game in Michael’s first year with them and bought BALCONY tickets for a group of us. It was last minute and all they had left on Ticketmaster. I picked the tickets up at Will Call and we headed to the section. Once we got there, expecting to find SEATS, the usher told us that they were Standing Room Only. I know this first hand. It was worth seeing Mike again, but it would suck to see a regular season game that would be more enjoyable on tv.

Yeah.. this is creating news. It has been common knowledge since the beginning of the summer that Miami would refrain from selling all of their tickets in advance this season in order for people to be able to buy tix on game day. Now, if I know this, I’m sure pretty much all of the basketball writers know it too, no?

SLAM should have had a thred on everyone’s preseason Finals pick. I’m liking the Magic to come out of the East and Portland from the West. The Blazers are deep and have a nice mix of bigs even without Oden for right now.

Shows how great Miami fans are. Everyone is a huge fan until money is involved. It’s not as if Miami is as financially strapped as a city like Cleveland.

thats because they fired the sales people.

LMAOOO BECAUSE MIAMI IS NOT A BASKETBALL CITY. THEY ARENT REALLY A SPORTS CITY, UNLESS YOU’RE TALKING COLLEGE FOOTBALL. IF THIS WAS A REAL CITY NY/CHI ETC THE SPOT WOULD BE JUMPING 3 BLOCKS DOWN AND ELETRIC WITH EVERYONE STANDING THE WHOLE GAME

  • SWIFTboy

Standing Room Only – seats seems like an oxymoron to me.

    @CHICAGO SAID IT YUP

random question EBOY….i just moved to miami….where can i find good pick up games??? flamingo park???

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Flamingo is a good run. Morningside and Suniland Parks usually have good runs too. If you travel further north into Ft. Lauderdale, you’ll find better games there. If you want a really good game, the Lauderdale Beach court (right on the ocean) usually has great runs with people from all over the place.

Also, if you can get a membership or sneak in….Downtown Athletic Club has good talent there too.

Love4humaity – You don’t wanna start a beef with Chicago fans. Trust me.

I was just on ticketmaster. It’s not just standing room. There are seats available in the lower bowl.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

If there really are non-standing room only tickets still available, that makes it extra sh*tty that the Heat organization fired all those ticket-sellers.

  • http://Www.slamonline.com Myles Brown

Indeed. Apparently they don’t all sell themselves.

  • Jagster

Maybe if The Heat would sell 200 remaining cheap seat tickets for $60 instead of $160 they’ll sell out? I’m sure by tonight they will.

yes @Engigmatic rep Chi-Town all day

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Those tickets are released on gamedays…..for every team. As usual, morons speak to soon without knowledge. Typical.

  • cathmeimballin

Eboy where do u play ball at?

  • http://Www.slamonline.com Myles Brown

Those tickets were available when other people checked before today also. And if all it takes to be called a moron by you is to provide facts that contradict your omniscience, then you really are a child.

Chi fans can suck it, hard. What?! Myles, what other people checked before today? Seems strange
