Tony Parker, Spurs Agree to Four Years, $50M

Once a Spur, always a Spur. Although TP was rumored to be interested in the Knicks, his loyalties were always in San Antonio. From the San Antonio Express-News: “For the better part of six months, Spurs point guard Tony Parker rode the trade-rumor carousel. With a contract set to expire after the 2010-11 season, he had been linked through several New York tabloids to potential deals with the Knicks. The ride, Parker admitted, was growing tiresome. On Saturday, just hours before the Spurs were to face New Orleans in their second game of the season, Parker took himself off the market. Parker and the Spurs have agreed to a multi-year contract extension that will pay him $50 million over four years. Suffice it to say the Spurs’ Big Three of Parker, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili — the team’s core for eight seasons and three championships — will remain intact for the foreseeable future.”

This could be either really good or extremly dissapointing for Spurs organization. Only time will tell. There’s no doubt Parker has got plenty fuel in his tank and nasty game to go along with it, but let’s see if he can keep leading this squad and remain healthy…

Bad bad decision by Spurs. Especially 4 years for a injury ridden guy. That too a PG….not good. They should’ve traded him off this season for anything they could’ve gotten for the future. No matter what Greg thinks, Spurs can’t contend for the title with this Duncan. He needs help. And sitting on the bench can’t help him much can it?

@KB8 Last 12 years, 4 chips and haven’t missed the playoffs while being in f*cking San Antonio. I think they know what they’re doing. They’re not the Knicks

the PG in the NBA are too good now. There isn’t any good PG that they can sign so let’s stick with TP. Might not win Champ again with this roster but will keep them deep in the playoffs.
