Will Mike Miller Require Thumb Surgery?

Uh-oh. Kiss those Heat title dreams goodbye. I keed, I keed. The AP has the story of the bum digit: “Heat forward Mike Miller is not on Miami’s final preseason road trip, remaining home because of an injured right thumb that could sideline one of the NBA’s top 3-point shooters for several weeks. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra says Miller — a right-handed shooter — was hurt in practice on Wednesday. Miller was scheduled to have further tests performed Thursday to determine the severity of the injury, and surgery is a possibility.”

    James Jones and Eddie House will have to step up. Miller has been a pleasant surprise for me: he’s so much more than a 3-point shooter. I was really impressed by his ball skills and his defensive rebounding. He’s what Sasha Vujacic dreams to be at night.

    This was a freak thing, and it’s exactly why James Jones and Eddie House were signed. We’re fine for now. In fact, I expect a rough start to the season, but there’ll be no panic here. This team is built for the summer and I kinda don’t want a breeze through the regular season, but some real adversity. This is what makes teams tough and ready for the intensity level of the playoffs.

    i don’t think this kind of stuff is irrelevant at all. these guys desperately need to get on the court together to get some chemistry going, and the injuries aren’t helping.

    @Cheryl (and Eboy ostensibly) – I think we’ll find that IF Miami struggle (or it’s percieved they are struggling, ie they drop a game…) in the early part of this season every commentor will be chomping at the bit to declare a doomed Miami Thrice overhaul having CLEARLY failed or some slop like this… essentially if the Heat drop games there will be CAPSLOCK A PLENTY…. : /
