Aaron Brooks Out 4-6 Weeks

by Marcel Mutoni / @marcel_mutoni

The good news for the Houston Rockets is that they’re no longer winless, having notched their first W of the season last night against the equally lowly Minnesota Timberwolves.

The sobering reality for Rockets fans is that they probably shouldn’t expect too many more victorires over the next month and a half.

Point guard Aaron Brooks, the team’s third-leading scorer, is expected to miss four-to-six weeks due to a sprained left ankle. The Houston Chronicle has the details:

Rockets guard Aaron Brooks said after Sunday’s game he was told to expect to miss four to six weeks with a sprained left ankle he suffered at the end of the first half Saturday night in an overtime defeat at San Antonio. The injury snapped his streak of 119 consecutive games played.

“I don’t think I ever had an ankle injury like this before,” Brooks said. “I did break my hand in college, sat out like eight weeks. As far as football, I never had any injury. Luckily, nothing is broken. It’s a sprain. I’ll be back to normal. You have to count your blessings.”

As if things weren’t bad enough down in Houston already.

Though Brooks sounds upbeat about healing quickly from the injury, it remains to be seen whether or not his team can tread water enough without him to make his return to action seem like a sign of hope.

unrel – if it’s a ROTO league (like mine) Brooks is huge. 3′s, steals, 20ppg, 5 assists, 4 rebounds.
