Barack Obama: Give the Miami Heat Time

At 8-7, Miami isn’t where anyone expected to be record-wise, but the President says fans and media need to be patient. The AP reports: “President Barack Obama — who wasn’t thrilled that LeBron James and Dwyane Wade turned down the Chicago Bulls this summer — told ABC’s Barbara Walters that when it comes to the Heat, it would be prudent for fans to be patient. ‘It takes some time for the team to come together,’ Obama said. ‘There’s no ‘I’ in team. So no matter how good a player is, no matter how good a group of players are, if they haven’t played together before they are not going to be as good as a team that has played together a long time.’”

  • benno

any way it did’nt take the celtics big 3 time to gel

  • KobeAllDay

One overrated loser making excuses for another. Maybe the Heat should do what Obama always does: blame Bush.

  • the truth

very ignorant statement to judge a president like that after 2 years. You should be banned from making comments

  • MUBWAR

Hey Benno, the worst president in the history of presidency just left in ’08. That spot is filled with Bush already.

  • The Philosopher

    Shout out to Barry Soetoro.

    “Wade,… LeBron… Have you seen my 6th, 7th and 8th cookies? … I’ve seem to have misplaced them…” Puppet

  • http://juanm.garcia@comcast.net Flashback

All jokes aside, why don’t the “experts” speak the truth. Instead of reafirming LeBrons b.s. excuse and say “the Heat are playing without having fun”, they should say ” the Heat are playing with no heart!”.

  • http://Www.slamonline.com Negetivekreep

What Obama meant to say was: ” No matter how good LeBron is, no matter how good the group of players around him are, There’s no i in team. But there is an i in win, but there is no W in LeBron Soooo….”

  • JTaylor21

F*CK all you Obama haters, where were all this anger and tea party BS when that fool bush was in the white house?

  • MUBWAR

    That’s an idiot post tiquan

  • http://Www.slamonline.com Negetivekreep

Bush was an abortion, anyone that would dispute this is either a republican or a republican. And that’s why I hate politricks, people are always going to believe what they want to believe. Obama seems like a good guy, he definitely takes his job allot more seriously than Dubya did. But realistically How can anyone expect him to ALREADY have changed Things, given the pathetic state Bush turned the country over in? My guess is, in the next 2 years he’ll get jobs and the middle class going again but the hate will probobly be even worse…That’s politics.

@EJ: People are pissed at Obama for two reasons:
    1. The economy sucks. While it’s not his fault, a crappy economy makes everybody angry. As the president, he’s the most visible target.
    2. Related to the visible target thing, he’s also black, smart, and successful. Even if the economy were doing well, everybody was employed, and we weren’t at war, there are still large parts of the American population who still wouldn’t like him just because of who he is. Given that the economy sucks, unemployment is high, and we are still at war, it’s not surprising that the part of the population that isn’t comfortable with a successful, intelligent black man would rally against him.
As for the Heat, I wasn’t worried about them until Haslem went down. Now they should really worry, because barring a trade, they’re not getting out of the second round of the playoffs now.

Maybe a bailout for the Heat would be in order?

Yes We Can (play above .500)!

  • http://twitter.com/flavaklav Klav

Patience doesn’t speak for the fact that they’re 1-6 against teams that are above .500. Real talk.

  • http://www.oprah.com Doyouwantmore

Give the Heat time. They are a great team. And if you disagree with me then you’re a racist homophobe.

  • dfortruth

Prez. Obama is just like Lebron, all promise and no production for their fans. They both were media made and the media is trying to bring them both down. (It’s like build a bear), you can create them to look anyway you want them to like, like puppets with strings.
They both produce big money for big corporations. Tax smokers more for cigarettes that you say will kill them; but no penalty for the corporations that you know is producing a product the kills.

Penalty to the victim. Demand that everyone buy health care, but no limit on what the heath industry can charge you.

Both say they are Christians, one calls himself the king, and the other wants to be ruler of the world. Pride goes before a fall.

@Jtaylor are you black and i think Obama should stop worrying about the NBAs problems and fixs the U.S. problems. I THINK GEORGE BUSH IS ONE OF THE TOP FIVE BEST PRESIDENTS THERE IS BOOK IT!!!!

  • Robb

It’s so easy to blame one guy for the mistakes of others. Things don’t happen automatically guys. The Heat needs time, so does Obama, he’s no wizard

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Obama, Bush, the Heat, they all suck. At least Obama is likable as a person though.

  • ab40

What should lebron do. Ask for a trade already? Ask for Riley to start coaching. Grow chris bosh some cohones. Talk with DWade about the game instead of his yeahbosswilldoboss friends? Or try to develop the young talent miami has… oh wait.

First off lets keep it real on the comment section. Hilary Clinton was the better choice, if you realize she was basically in office for 8 years with your Husband as President. She had already established relationships with key figures overseas and to me has the same personality and demeanor of Obama. Its just people went crazy over Obama and Republicans messed up by letting a rookie Palin run with him. I would take Hilary over Obama and some people are justified in their assumption of Obama like I am justified in my assumption of Bush. We all agree to disagree, but Obama has some years left to really see if he was the right choice. People give Obama time, he didn’t create this bad economy but I think he is doing his best to fix it. BOOK IT!!

I THINK GEORGE BUSH IS ONE OF THE TOP FIVE BEST PRESIDENTS THERE IS BOOK IT!!!!” The bullsh!t meter just orgasmed all over the sarcasm detector and made this baby.

  • http://www.google.com/news BETCATS

People who think Bush is a top 5 president had to eat the first 4 fingers on their counting hand in order to formulate such a dubious list.

  • The Philosopher

    The Seed:
In world affairs, such as wars, world leader gatherings, etc., do you really think the people at the “round table” would take Hillary Clinton seriously? One can imagine her making a proclamation in her staunchest demeanor, and the people around the table laugh her all the way into tears, and out of the war room.
    In my opinion…

Love the way Barack Obama pretty much took Miami’s situation where they are expected to experience success & commented in a manner where it coincides with his presidency.

    Obama ’12.

  • webstarr

interesting to see how basketball fans on this site understand nuance better than about 70 percent of the country. There are apparently still some people who do not think a president has to be either the greatest or the worst ever. Nobody is calling Obama great at this point, but chill with the worst president ever nonsense.

  • http://yahoo.com Eboy

BETCATS he is ok. I want to see you run the greatest country with the greatest basketball player KOBE. What would you do if some IRAQIS hijacked airplanes and ran them into the twin towers. GEORGE BUSH IS ONE OF TOP FIVE GREATEST PRESIDENT THERE IS BOOK IT!!!!

  • http://Slamonline.com Caboose

In actual historical context, Andrew Johnson is the worst president of all time. But I think Obama is wrong on his analysis of Miami.

  • doyouwantmore

I seriously don’t see all this charisma and likeability that everyone describes Obama with. He’s a snooty College professor who was fast-tracked through life. Also for the last few years I’ve had to listen to Obama and CNN and NBC and ABC and CBS and PBS all describe me as racist because I disagree with his political principles, stupid because I have faith, and hateful because I believe in defeating enemies instead of apologizing to them.

  • Adrian Zapata

Barack Obama does not care about Hispanic-People

doyouwantmore: you should give the apology a chance!

There is no ‘I’ in Team. I remember Jordan once saying, when just in the NBA; there is no T of team in Win either.

  • http://bluefont.com Hisham

what Jordan said was: there IS an I in win

  • http://www.yamahyouth.com Gerwin

You’re right Hisham, thanks. Was wondering what it exactly was, but couldn’t figure it out. That were the exact words.

  • Mo Money

19 hijackers were from saudi arabia, our biggest allies. iraq didnt have jacksh*t to do with 9/11. bush still wanted to go to war there. and yeah…the laws he signed for the pacs and big corporations looking to save money by exporting jobs to poorer countries so they can get cheaper labor…thats why the economy is so run down, not because of obama. anyway…the heat are gonna be good this year…but wait till next year, once they really gel theres no stopping them.
