Carmelo Anthony Supports Nuggets’ Front-Office Shakeup

Read the tea leaves on this one all you want, but ‘Melo thinks getting rid of longtime front-office adviser Bret Bearup was the right move. The Denver Post reports: “Nuggets president Josh Kroenke and executive VP of basketball ops Masai Ujiri got rid of longtime front-office adviser Bret Bearup, who had been helpful in many past trades – and had his hand in cooking up recent deals for Melo. Asked about the Nuggets getting rid of Bearup from the front office, Anthony said, ‘That’s a step. I think that was a big step, not just for Josh (Kroenke) and Masai (Ujiri) but for the whole organization – for the whole league to know what they’re doing here, to make progress. Positive (step). They made some changes obviously for the better of the organization. That’s their decision.’”

If god is willing and the creek don’t rise, Melo will continue to keep his options open, so nothing has really changed, imho.

I really don’t want to see Nuggets become Cleveland number 2 if he decides to leave, but as long as Melo is playing like he did last night and carrying the team on his shoulders, that’s great improvement and maybe he will have second thoughts about wanting to leave.

This organization has long since suffered from the “Too Many Cooks” epidemic. At one point a few years ago, I think they had like a dozen GMs.

Again, my daily swings with the Melo situation continue.

Also, the Nuggets would have WAY more talent sans Melo than the Cavs have without LeBron.

Melo played like an allstar last night. Just going off last nights game him going to the Knicks would be a step backwards. Way to keep Melo happy Denver.

The Pepsi Center is a rough place for any team to win, Lakers especially have a hard time in there, that is a proven fact. Work it our in DEN and stay Melo!

Same problem as Miami Though.. Sign a Big Post Guy and bring Harrington off the bench along with Kenyon Martin/Nene (whovever is displaced by the new guy) and Sheldon Williams

I really hope Melo stays in Denver just to have someone go against Kobe. Good win and what a way to show and tell how Denver stops the Lakers in their undefeated streak!!!

Great article by Ken Berger today. The Nuggets would need a once-in-a-lifetime deal — a la the Lakers getting Pau Gasol (Jerry West favor) to please Kobe — for Denver to keep Melo. Translation: Only 73 more games until Carmelo Kiyan Anthony can come to the Knicks for “free” and hold up that #30 jersey at his Knicks presser.
