Is Udonis Haslem’s Season Over?

According to the Sun-Sentinel and its sources, Haslem‘s foot surgery could sideline him for the remainder of the season: “Although the team would not confirm the extent of Haslem’s injury other than to say he would be out indefinitely, a source familiar with the procedure said it is a season-ending injury for most players. The source said the opinion had nothing to do with the possibility of the Heat seeking salary-cap relief for a replacement, which only would come if Haslem was deemed sidelined for the season by Nov. 30. Haslem tore the Lisfranc ligament, the most significant ligament in the foot. ‘He’s an angry, ornery player right now,’ Spoelstra said. Haslem’s procedure was performed by specialist Dr. Tom Sangiovanni as well as Heat physicians Harlan Selesnick and James Losito at Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables.”

If it’s up to Haslem, I’m sure he’ll try to play before the season’s over. If it’s up to management and the doctor’s, he’ll be shut down so they can utilize the salary-cap relief money. Take your pick.

Get well soon Udonis the Adonis. now heat have to fine a hustle forward, or get more out of bosh on the boards

Haslem was their best Power Forward before going down.

  • benno

if his season is over, then so is the heats.

  • benno

i know who they need – Big baby, aka uno uno, aka the chubster, aka cry baby, aka the leading charge taker or my favourite, THE TRIPLE DOUBLE MACHINE! Yeah Glen Davis

  • MikeC.

He got hurt and had the corrective surgery right away? I wonder if Andrew Bynum knew that such a thing was an option.

Damn, now the Heat have to find another bouncer.

  • LA Huey

Ouch. Remember when he took less money to stay with the Heat? It’s not a career-ending injury but this is a pretty good example why players will take more money for financial security. Haslem’s been a durable dude for a long time and, just like that, he goes down.

i feel really bad for UD. ‘specially since he was dedicating this season to his ma. @ benno: yeah, they could use baby. how exactly are they going to get him? maybe the C’s would settle for a straight bosh/baby trade.

The Heat are 8-6 and Lebron has done this before. Does Lebron really make people better? Antwan Jamison average 20 10, then play with Lebron and he sucks. JJ Hickson got easy baskets with Lebron, But without Lebron JJ looks ten times better. Even Mo Williams is playing better. Dwade is playing bad with Lebron, because Lebron dominates the ball. Lebron does not need to play point like alot of folks think. Lebron needs to play small forward and let Arroyo be the point guard. Lebron is looking for himself too much or he because to passive. Wade is acting like he has to get his or Lebron won’t let him. Bulls and Knicks looks so much better now Lebron. Bulls are great without you, but Knicks are 7-8 without you, so image what they would be with you. I am enjoying this season so far. BOOK IT!!

LMAO @ Chris for the dis at Bosh

  • http://yahoo.com Eboy

@ the seed i back on the heat bandwagon again i dont get your point its only 14 games into the season your probably like Mark Cuban happy when the heat lose.

If Haslem is there best PF how come Bosh is making that much. It looks like some of you people post in here just to HATE on the HEAT. Mr BOOK IT, let’s see how the KING bounce back and you’ll be back right on his joc.

  • vtrobot

For $14.5 mil/yr, you get a little more than 17/7. For $3.5 mil/yr (if UD played Bosh’s mins), you’d get a little more than 10/10. It’s a moot point now, but UD was the better investment this year.

  • vtrobot

also, i think the “haters” are being more realistic than the MIA fans. what is on the horizon that’s going to make the heat a lot better soon? riles? maybe? damp? ummmm. 14 games in, 20 games in, 30 games in. it’s likely going to be more of the same, w/ things probably getting worse and not better. what happens when riles starts coaching and they do worse. that’s a potential scenario, right? it’s def not gonna be fun then. even in the seasons ahead, how is riles going to surround the 2 and 1/2 men with anyone who isn’t a solid, yet probably slower and/or injury-prone vet? when you have such a talented and high paid core, their always going to be surrounded by the same type of supporting cast.

  • burnt_chicken

this sucks, he’s such a warrior. It’ll be much harder for the Heat to win without UD, obviously. I really hope he can make it back onto the court, he’s one of those awesome lunchbucket guys I can’t help but cheer for regardless of jersey colour…

  • JTaylor21

The seed, shut that bucket-mouth of yours up please. I bet you think that kobe makes gasol better right? Morons run in packs and laker swamp rats are no different, you guys are by far the stupidest fans ever. I’ve never heard any one of you morons say anything that’s remotely close to the truth regarding bron and kobe. So now it’s bron fault that Wade has stunk up the joint in every one of their lossses except the NOH one, it’s his fault that wade has always suffered from a ball-hogging disease known as kobitis and it’s bron’s fault that wade has being torched by everyone he’s guarded so far due to bad communication and gambling tendencies. While you’re at it, it’s probably his fault that amelia earhart disappeared, that north and south korea are about to go to war, and it’s him that caused the banking system to collapse. Imbecile!!!

  • http://slamonline.com Bryan Crawford

Laughing at JTaylor…again. He goes on incoherent rants that only make sense to him.

  • wilz

JTaylor21 u make urself sound like an real idiot. especially the “north and south korea are about to go to war” part…u lose all credibility w/ that there are about 5 things wrong w/ that satement. dumba$$

  • wilz

    case in point.

  • JTaylor21

Well keep thinking that crap and you’ll be watching another korean war with your mouth wide open and pants down. @BCrawford, it makes sense to me because I posses an IQ above 100 while people like you are a day late and a dollar short.

  • Heals

Damn shame as he is easily the most likable player on Heat…

  • ShadiestBen

Spinmaster General I expect more than that 10:39 comment!
Jtaylor – If Pau was still toiling away in Memphis would he be regarded as the best big man in the game? When Kobe and Pau work the two man game at the elbow Kobe consistently gets him the ball where all he has to do is keep it up high and finish.
Your opinion on Kobe should be automatically discounted because of your bias, which is stupid because on non Laker topics you actually make coherent logical statements.

  • busterjonez

I hate LeBronski, but it’s way worse watching a humble guy like UD go down than watching Bron hoisting the LO’B at the end of the year.

  • EJ

I agree with Seed. JTaylor, can you finally answer me, are you Bruceblitz?

  • http://yahoo.com Eboy

@ Jtayler i think you should shut up I am starting to believe that wade was better off with bosh by tthemselves

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

^I know Eboy thinks Jtaylor is stupid, (well everyone knows that..) but I believe he’s not the one writing there..
