Kobe Bryant Willing to Come Off the Bench for Team USA?

One of the heroes from the Gold Medal winning ’08 team joined Coach K on his radio show, and said he’d do anything for Team USA at the next Olympics. From USA Today: “Bryant, appearing on Krzyzewski’s radio show, said he’s offering his services for the 2012 Olympics. Krzyzewski coached a Bryant-led team to the 2008 gold medal. ‘If anything, I’ll just be Mariano Rivera — come in in the last two minutes,’ said Bryant, who will be 34-years-old by the time of the London Olympics.”

he will still be good then but at least he acknowledges the fact that when it is time he come off the bench unlike other big name players of the past

Kobe seems really eager to win another Gold medal, wonder why. After all Mike won two Gold medals. The copycat is at it again. That said, if he keep his current level or something close to it he should be playing an important role in 2012 no doubt.

I’d be way more impressed if he played in the 2012 Olympics for the Italian team.

I’d be more impressed if he played in the 2012 Olympics for the It*lian team. Don’t be a b*tch, Kobe….rep the country you love so much and lets see just how great you are when you’re not being supported by all-world teammates.

    Or are you afraid, Mambo?

I like using the psychology of the new, ignorant Lebron fan as my new touch point in my continued Kobe hate.

If Kobe was really trying to copy MJ, would he be such a Krzyneaklhquiowe1ski lover? Seems like he’d be a die hard UNC guy no?

@Eboy – i had a eerily similar ‘conversation’ with a newbie Lebron fan who probably started watching ball last year or so….

plus this is just part of the interview. Kobe started by saying that he would defend and score if required a la 2008

Kobe will be in…the fight will be at forward if Lebron and Melo decide to play…i mean Durant carried team USA so he is a shoo in.

Its inconsequential to discuss this to death right now since it will all depend on who wins at the end of 2011-12 season

  • Logan

sorry about the horrible formatting…don’t know what happened!

Didn’t MJ win that first medal in College? Yes Chief he did, without coach K. Yeah the copycat may win another one but it won’t be as good as that one. He’d also have to go back to college and win a Chip. He’s not trying to copycat MJ he’s just ballin.

  • hoodsnake

Coach K has a radio show???

Eboy; if your aware of your ignorance, then how ignorant are you really?

  • http://twitter.com/HarryByrdMan44 LA Huey

I was hoping for an intelligent discussion about what the 2012 team’s roster and rotation should look like. Instead, we have an argument that Kobe’s copying MJ by wanting win ball games. =(

Well, that is great, however how about the other choices we’ve got here? Would you mind crafting a further article regarding these too? Cheers!
