Miami Heat Lose, Hold Team Meeting

The Dallas Mavericks exposed the Miami Heat’s hole in the middle en route to a 106-95 victory, knocking the Heat to 9-8. “Caron Butler scored a season-high 23 points and Tyson Chandler had 14 points and 17 rebounds as the Dallas Mavericks defeated the visiting Miami Heat 106-95 on Saturday. Dirk Nowitzki scored 22 points as the Mavericks (12-4) won their fifth consecutive contest. LeBron James scored 23 points for Miami (9-8), while Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade scored 22 points apiece. Dallas limited Miami to 41.3 percent shooting and James made just 5-of-19 shots.” After the game, the doors to the Heat’s locker room didn’t open for 45 minutes, and Marc Spears tweeted that, “Heat have players only meeting to air out issues after loss to Mavs.” Miami travels to Cleveland this Thursday.

How about Bronnie shoulder checking his coach en route to the bench?? Was that the “inner competitor” raising its ugly face again??

  • vtrobot

@ Clydesays: They were 14-3 at this point that year so, no, probably not as many of these type of articles.

The HEAT met, and they decided it was best for Pat Riley to bring his talents back to the bench.

am i the only one who thinks the heat will get it together? I mean it is only 17 games in and if they REALLY want to win as much as they say they will start to do the necessary things. Once they taste it they will want more

  • http://staticseth.blogspot.com Seth

Get Riley in there already, let’s go. Also, the return to Cleveland is gonna be a fun one to watch. I am canceling all plans.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Nick tha Quick

Why is it widely assumed that the Heat will someday soon get it together and begin their unstoppable march to the FInals? That there is certain point in their season when they’ll have a miraculous divination and starting destroying teams? Why is this so easy to believe? This could very well fail and implode just as easily. Not hating just offering a different train of thought.

  • http://Slamonline.com Kap

Lebrons lack of fundamentals, Wades inability to play without the ball, and Chris Boshs revelation that he is just a large small forward are to blame plus these guys low bball IQ and a horrible bench. I mean Lebron has been in the league eight years and he can’t post up or play without the ball. Karma is a “u know wat”.

  • Omar

Co-sign Kap. I’ve been saying all of this from day one. That team is fatally flawed. How are you going to “turn it out”, much less win a chip, without a decent point guard, decent big man, or a bench?

  • Brian

I heard the meeting didn’t produce much though because Bron and Wade couldn’t decide who should lead it so they mostly stood there and stared at their stats.

  • Brian

There really is nothing better then hearing the whistle blow after the Heat have given up their 50th straight layup and watching LBJ’s head and shoulders sag in his quitters pose while Wade goes right to the refs to complain. This has been awesome and I hope it never stops.

  • http://Slamonline.com Caboose

    Brian wins.

  • http://Slamonline.com Kap

When Tyson Chandler, Emeka Okafor, & Paul Milsap dominate your frontline, you have major problems.

  • bashmo

damn…Kap broke it down. But guys, lets not forget they’be been missing key bench players (Miller, Haslem) and have had to make do with the likes of 3rd string dudes like Magloire, Stackhouse.

I mean their best player off the bench is Eddie House, followed by James Jones. Mike Miller, Haslem can’t oome back any sooner.

  • JTaylor21

You laker b*tches enjoy it while it lasts because unlike Keith Sweat; it won’t last forever. You clowns should be on your knees along with “the aggressor” thanking the man up-stairs for sending y’all the great white hope; Gasol instead of worrying about the heat.

  • http://Slamonline.com Kap

@JTaylor…if lebron was as great as u guys make him out to be he and the team would be struggling like they do (5-19). You replace Kobe with Bron and this team would not struggle at all. You know why? Bc Kobe has high bball IQ and has the fundamentals of bball mastered.

  • http://slamonline.com Krishan

    Haha jtaylor umad?

  • MikeC.

This is kind of a sidebar issue, but since it’s kinda Heat related, I’ll put it up here. When Riley and Colangelo were working out the Bosh sign-and-trade, why didn’t Colangelo ask for Beasley? Riley was trying to get rid of Beasley just to dump his cap hold. What’s better? $30 million of Amir Johnson, or $9.5 million of Michael Beasley? It should have at least been worth a shot for Colangelo, especially seeing what Beasley is doing with regular minutes and touches.

  • All Day

@ Anton: Oil and water doesn’t mix, bro! LeBron and D-Wade can’t play together, because both guys need the ball in their hands and neither one can play without the ball.

relax guys, Lebron was just teaching them new dance moves that they needed to get down by tomorrow. Coach Spo’s annual cyber monday shop-a-thon (held at his house due to the godly wifi speed) is coming up quick and the big three have a big suprise for him! Sidenote: Pat Riley is going to bidding on a new coach, he has all those spare ebay bucks laying around and his paypal account is loaded.

  • http://psp2423@yahoo.com Eboy

@Jtaylor calm down little fella. The Heat will pick it up after the all start game. The only thing im worried about are the other teams bigs vs the Heats bigs.

  • Fat Lever

Check my $tats. No seriously, check them.

  • JTaylor21

Sure, kobe has a high b-ball IQ and has mastered the fundermentals but STILL hasn’t shot above 46% from the field in his entire career, STILL takes the worst kind of shots, STILL gambles too much on defense, and STILL hasn’t outright dominated a playoff series. What all that shows me is he’s nothing but a bigger AI with better teammates. I have one question for all you kobe-lovers, what did he do when he was the “MAIN” guy? Nothing but lose to the big-bad suns, not make the playoffs a couple of times, and talk sh*t about his teammates behind their back. The man’s a GREAT great player but to act like he’s head and shoulders above this era’s great players is tomfoolery.

  • Blackphantom

JTaylor, yes Kobe has indeed shot over 46% in his career before, so stop stressing that fact that isn’t even really a fact

  • Blackphantom

Think I’m wrong JTaylor? Go to NBA.com and look up his past stats. Stop playing yourself

  • benno

true Jtaylor21 – anyway where was kobe at the most important part of last years playoffs (game 7 of the finals) – no where. he flopped. I’m not denying hes good, but everyone seems to bum him.

  • http://Slamonline.com Kap

@benno…I coulda sworn he was holding up the finals trophy in game 7 to go with a 20pt-15 reb game. I’m just sayin…

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

All of the Big 3 scored 20 pts and they still lost….that tells you about how poorly built this team is. In Boston Ray, Pierce, and Kevin can score 14 pts each and the team can still win in dominant fashion….thats because that is a TEAM! This Heat squad sucks right now, lets be honest they suck….they just suck….PERIOD. But its early, lets see what kind of things they can do to get the ball rolling

  • Blackphantom

What has Kobe done when he had nothing?? Hmmmm, I don’t know average 35 and 31 points per game two straight seasons while playing alongside a sh*t sandwich of a team

  • JTaylor21

Can’t you read Phantom, has he ever shot 47% in his career? Hells no, which means his never shot more than 46% in season. Damn, the public school system is really going down the drain.

  • Blackphantom

He went shot for 47% twice in the playoffs. And the playoffs are more important than the regular season. Can’t you read between the lines??

  • Blackphantom

    *He shot for 47%

  • JTaylor21

Great switch the subject when you see that you’re wrong, typical kobe-fanboy crap.

  • karma

@JTaylor – You’re an idiot. The “when was the last time he lead his team to a series win” – uh, let’s see….the entire Suns series in 2010, the entire Jazz series in 2010, ALL the series in the 2009 playoffs, and all the series minus the Boston series in the 2008 playoffs. You’re such a bad hater that its embarrassing. I feel embarrassed for you.

  • karma

I dont understand how you can hate Kobe yet praise Lebron. What is Lebron’s excuse right now? Atleast when Kobe got a great supporting cast, he led his teams to wins. The Heat are 9-8 with two of the best players in the league and a top 5 PF. It takes more than talent to win games, clearly.

  • Blackphantom

I’m not switching the subject idiot, you said he never shot over 46%, I proved you wrong. But that isn’t really saying something, almost everyone proves you wrong about something on this site. But, when it comes to the Heat. I’m not gonna go as far as to say they might not make the playoffs, but they’ve got some serious issues, if they lose to CLE coming up, I really think your so-called king and his friends will be in for a very long season

  • Blackphantom

    co-sign karma

  • Hammer

Just bout 1/4 n2 the season. When does it stop being “too early to worry”? I’d say right bout now. I’m not sayin they won’t resolve their issues (@ the same time I’m ecstatic that there losing)but it is worrisome no doubt. Spo is gone!

  • 80

@Jtaylor21 when everyone starts making fun of the heat and Lebron and when you cant retort you start the Kobe is crap player routine, to change the topic on every miami post i have read so far. I dont like or dislike Kobe, and he isnt mentioned in the article, until you brought him up. Do you really think that Lebron is that good as you say, when he plays like he has been playing so far, and you defend and follow him blindly? i guess he is a king of sorts, with matching servants embodied in you and that philosopher guy. Is he beyond criticism? Mostly everything he and his team does is anti basketball right now, and if you want to discuss it we can, but i would ask you to try and be sincere and not to muddy the waters. Btw some of your comments on other topics are great, and funny, but i dont like idolatry.

  • karma

    @80

The kid is probably like 14, I don’t take him that seriously. and if he’s older than 14 and really believes in the logic he spews, then he thinks like a 14 year old. either way, he’s an idiot and I think even he knows it.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

The Heat have a pretty favorable schedule the next couple of weeks, they better take advantage of that and get some W’s. But they’re gonna struggle against teams with a solid frontcourt, there’s just no way around it. Even if they do get it together, as I’ve said on here before, they cannot beat the Celtics or Lakers in a 7 game series as their team is currently constructed.

enjoy it while you can Heat Haters. Cause when the veyron 1004 horse power goes loose teams will have to rewrite defensive plays. Oh ya and Philosopher you’re right LONG…LIVE…THE…KING

  • Michael

wow the time predicted for the heat to “get it together” keeps getting pushed further back, pretty soon the heat fanboys will be saying “once we get an entire off season together we will be fine” lol whatever, if u somehow think this team will suddenly flip a switch and become great at the business end of the season your an idiot. If they can’t get it going soon, they never will.

  • LD

2004 Olympics all over again. LOL But this time they might not even get 3rd place.

  • flipnoyce

I wonder who does MIAMI have in mind for a backup coach in case P.Riley decide to can coach SPO. Personally I don’t think its the coaching, its more on the players themselves and how bad do they want it. SPO is working with what he’s got and apparently it is not enough. Half of the people who bloggs in here don’t even play ball but somehow thinks they could do a better coaching job. OTHER THAN THE SUPPOSED BIG 3 to start who do they have for BACKUPS in case LeDWaneBosh wants to sit because they’re playing too much according to the Prophet James. BRON, WADE,and BOSH each needs the ball to be effective(check individual stats b4 joining together) but they also needs to do it DEFENSIVELY to win games and thats where they Keep falling apart.

  • Blackphantom

yet again, JTaylor epically fails in an argument

  • http://sdfjlkf.com Jukai

I mean, I’m down on both Wade and Lebron right now, but saying they have low basketball IQ is really f’ing stupid.

  • http://sdfjlkf.com Jukai

I mean, there are a lot of other problems with the team, like not playing defensive oriented players (Dampier, Chalmers), not running any type of offense (as admitted by Spo), not really running many off-ball screens (as admitted by Lebron) and having major trouble with their bigs (as admitted by every other opposing center).
And we can be angry with Lebron, Wade, and Bosh: they all did this so they wouldn’t have to work as hard, wouldn’t have to compete as hard, and now they see they have to and it’s gotten them upset and they’re not responding. It shows a lack of aggression, it shows what babies they are.
But I think people take this time to really assault players they don’t like and make up outright lies. Kap says Lebron’s BBall IQ is low. Huh? Lebron, while playing awful ball, is averaging more assists than most other non-PG superstars. flipnoyce says that the blame can’t be put on the coach at all. Huh? The coach saw a subpar defensive team and a monster of an offensive team and decided to try and turn them into a Boston Celtics part 2: a defensive juggernaut with no offensive schemes what-so-ever. You’re saying there should be no blame on the coach?
There’s a lot of problems with this team, lots of them. But let’s not take this opportunity to make up adament lies now. Let’s focus on the real issues: Lebron and Wade simply are pouting right now that their lives aren’t easy, and until they realize that f it, they gotta get around it, they wont win anything.

  • LD

They might as well sign Penny Hardaway now.

  • Blackphantom

Co-sign Jukai, it’s not that they don’t have high b-ball IQ, they just are’t playing to they’re potential

  • MikeC.

The Heat certainly seem to suffer from low common sense if they thought they could take it easy because they joined forces. Every team in the league plays their best game against the Heat, and it doesn’t seem like Lebron, Wade and Bosh were ready for it. It’s almost like they expected the rest of the league to just lay down for them.

  • Pharaoh

A LeBron James team never panics..LOL
But seriously LeBron is the biggest diva in this league. When things go south he pouts. I have never heard him own up to his mistakes EVER or admit he’s wrong and takes responsibility. Always pointing the finger at somebody else and constantly making excuses. MAN THE F UP LeBum and do something about it. And did you hear what Wade said after the loss to Orlando, “They were suppose to win the game” WTF kinda attitude is that?!

  • ab40

they just don’t click and their roleplayers don’t know their roles are too bad at their roles. LeBron isn’t having ‘fun’aka the whole team isn’t his walkover. Chris Bosh is just terrible and dwayne isn’t jumping on the table because he doesn’t know who’s house it is. Maybe in year two or three. They need to lose a lot more and a lot more important games before they win it all.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Pardeep

Co-Sign Jukai: The way things have happened to the Heat it sort of stunned them, they had this whole thought that they would be dominant just because of the Big 3 but now there used to “chilling” as Chris Bosh said and it might be hard to get it together, kind of like the kid who never does his homework at school and keeps saying I have potential ill get it together but never seems to get it together because of the bad habits hes built.

haha you guys are hilarious.. Guys please stop picking on jtaylor.. id say right now kobe is the best basketball player.. period.. if you take out lebron and wades athleticism (or atleast lower it down to equal kobes) then i doubt that they can still run a team.. w.. but id say if the heat fills up every position with players (one’s that really can play or atleast play D) then theyd be unstoppable.. but right now they just suck as a team.. no single individual greatness can pull the team together..trade bosh for backups!!!

Mr bean shot a sizzling 14-33. He WILL NOT let pau win mvp

  • Miami lover

u guys say a lot of things but the main flaw that i see in the heat isnt the lack of a big man or point guard. It is their intensity and focus. i mean bosh wants to chill and the superfriends are just going through the motions and thinking they can win like that. look at their faces in a game against an elite team and it would probably be casual. they need something that will light a fire under them. it could be a signing or who knows it very well can be riley. heat just need a wake up call

  • Jackie Moon

@Tarzan – did you see the game? And if you did, you should know that Kobe carried the team offensively, regardless of his individual FG%. Much as Pau did not show up on either offense or defense, regardless of his FG%. You know what the rest of the Lakers shot besides Kobe? 36%. Ah forget it, pile on the Mamba, I think he can handle it. Have your fun.
