Paul Pierce: 20,000 Point Man

The Truth became just the third Celtic ever to reach the 20,000 point mark last night, and it was quite an emotional experience for him and the fans. From the Boston Globe: ‘Coming into the game I knew it,’ said Pierce. ‘But I didn’t want to press it. I knew I needed 23 I think tonight to get it, I knew once I got to 22 I looked up and it was a great opportunity.’bThe points that put Pierce over the top came on a pair of free throws that put the Celtics up 101-97 with 13.3 seconds remaining in overtime. The game was still very much on the line at that point, making the milestone at once overshadowed and more significant. ‘When I thought about it it wouldn’t have felt this good if we didn’t get the win,’ said Pierce. ‘So I tried to keep my composer relax take deep breathes and I got the throws. You know it was an emotional moment for me, tough for me to swallow. I was just thinking about all the years I have been here, and you don’t see it to often where a player accomplishes that kind of feet playing with one team. It is a great accomplishment you know the fans seeing my ups and downs throughout the years and sticking with me. Just to be able to accomplish this type of feet it means a lot to me. I am not going to downplay it.’”

Paul Pierce is a good B-ball player…the problem with him is he has zero humility!! Not once in his pathetic I I I Me Me Me press conference last night do you hear him thanking past and present team mates for making this feat possible. Not once does he thank the Boston Celtics franchise for signing him and keeping him, not once does he thank the coaches for teaching and developing him as a raw talent out of college to what he has become. Not once does he thank the fans for sticking with him through his immature days!!! Just another typical athlete who thinks everything revolves around his little universe!! Really a very sad evening!!

The crowd went off when this happened, couldn’t have come at a better time, unless it was Game 7 of the Finals or something, but that would have been ridiculous.

Congratulations to Rondo too, he’s playing out of his mind, but within the flow.

I’m glad he was able to do it at home AND when the game was on the line… to win. He’s in good company now.

I hate how the celtics play so much. I think its bad for basketball. They play VERY dirty and are so dramatic about everything. And if there is a foul called against them doc rivers is in shock. They need to play the game the right way. No FLOPPING!(Pierce, Rondo,Davis) NO”accidental” elbowing people then running away!(KG)
If it wasn’t for ray allens perfect jumpshot I would never watch any celtics game. But who knows if there will ever be another player as fundamentally sound as allen.

  • bashmo

First, Congrats Pierce. This is a hell of an accomplishment. Not too many have accomplished this throughout their careers…and it speaks volumes as far as loyalty goes.

Rog what do you mean you hate how the celtics play? I know its your opinion, and I respect that, but arent they a LITTLE interesting to yo? I mean they run a msooth offense and have the tightest halfcourt D in L. Ray coming off screens, KG in the post, Rondo in transition…The celtics are arguably on of the most exiting teams to watch in the NBA. At leas tot me.

@ RoG23: What accidental elbow did KG throw last night? I missed that one. Was it when he raised his arms to get Bogut’s forearm off of his chest? Was that the “thrown elbow” that you’re referring to? Everything that KG does is dirty because he’s a dirty player in your mind, right? You see flopping *ssholes, others see crafty competitors. Try viewing things a little more subjectively and you might enjoy some of the C’s games. Did you know that MJ did pretty much whatever it took to win and wasn’t the nicest guy while he was doing it? He was fun to watch, yeah? P.S. Ray alone is a good enough reason to watch the C’s. Peace.

I deffianately remember him thanking the fans for sticking with him

  • Tyquez

hate wen he try to get a foul call/he alwayz fallin

Paul Pierce is still a great scorer. He was unstoppable back in the day and can still get you 30-35 whenever you need it. Buddy gets straight buckets. HOF for sure

@vtrobot: the difference is that when mj played rough on defense. he didnt fall down everytime he was touched on the fast break(rondo). and i never saw him pump fake then jump 2 feet to his right to bump into the defender (pierce). and even if garnett shoved off boguts arm, he ran into the stands and acted like he did nothing. rather than standing up to bogut and being the “intimidator” he is.

@bashmo: that is kinda my point. i think the Cs have enough talent to play without having to flop on every play.

PAUL PIERCE is the mother *****ng TRUTH, hate it or love it, that man is a straight baller. 20,0000 to prove his points. He’s hungrier more than ever, the Celtics are coming for that chip once more. He definitely look better than last year and even shed a few pounds. He might not be the most athletic player, but he definitely hold his own offensively and defensively and that is why he is my favorite player in the league. He made the Celtic fans believed even when he had no one or nothing to believe in.

  • ClydeSays

Any kid wanting to play college or pro ball should take a long look at Pierce’s career. He isn’t especially athletic or big for his position, but he gets it done.

He also figured out that you can’t be a one-dimensional player for your entire career. He steadily improved from a 3 point threat to an all around scorer and defender.
