Ron Artest Wants to Try Out for an NFL Team

Artest tells CBS Sports that he wants a shot at playing football professionally after his NBA career, because (of course) that’s just the kind of thing Ron Ron would want to do: “Artest revealed that he intends to try out for an NFL team when his contract with the Lakers is up after the 2013-14 season. Artest, who taped the interview at the Lakers’ practice facility on Saturday, his 31st birthday, already has divulged that he’s been training for a second career as a heavyweight boxer when his basketball days are over. Little did we know that there’s another professional sport Artest wants to try. Then again, knowing him, of course there is. ‘God willing, after my NBA career, God willing I’m still athletic enough – which I’m trying to take care of my body as best as possible and be prepared for this day, for this tryout of an NFL team,’ Artest said … ‘It’s a fantasy of mine. It’s an opportunity because I’m athletic. So if that fantasy can be fulfilled, and if it’s something that can really be reached as far as a goal, I’m going for it.’”

Think he’d make a nice TE. Him and Michael Vick would be awesome

  • riggs

only position he would be ok for is tight end. He has a better chance at boxing *replays malice at the palace*

Great hands but not fleet of foot

Mmm… Artest doesn’t have NFL speed or quicks. Maybe has a pass rushing DE?

He should be a Raider. How sick would a silver and black Artest jersey be?!

I don’t know any tight end that come off the bench!

  • Ben

  • riggs

i bet you he can outrun todd heap.

He d clearly be a MLB or OLB, anyone that thinks he has any other shot at any other position doesn’t watch football

Let Ron-Ron go back home so he could play for the G-Men!

    I hate Ron Artest.

He should just join the NFL today.

Artest is too slow? Depends on what position. He’d make a really nice tight end–maybe a full back?

  • flipnoyce

He doesn’t have enough discipline to fight in boxing, he will be serve flat on his back! Although I’d pay to see him in the ring with KOBE before he join the Lakers squad. By the time he retire from basketball he’ll be too slow to join football.

    He’ll make a great Cowgirl.
