Shaquille O’Neal: Celtics ‘Best Team I’ve Been on’

Shaq, who has been accepted with open arms (and nostrils) in Beantown, says the Celtics are the best team he’s ever been a part of. Perhaps it was just the natural high he was on after his big performance last night. From WEEI: “O’Neal said he was just happy to give the Garden crowd a Thanksgiving Eve treat – even at a bargain rate of $1.5 million annually. ‘I think people appreciate my hard work, especially over the past 18 years,’ O’Neal said. ‘I think they understood that when I came here for the 1.5, they knew what was on my mind. For them, it’ll be [NBA title] 18. For the big three, it’ll be two. And for me it’ll be big number 5. That’s the only thing that I’ll focus on right now. This is a great team. The best team I’ve been on. They’ve got a lot of weapons on this team, so on any given night anybody can be the leading scorer. The team’s very unselfish, so the shots are going to drop off and they easily could have shot them and did that but…great game. Great team effort. And now we’ve just got to keep it going.’ Best team O’Neal has ever played on? Even better than those three NBA title teams in the early 2000s and the 2006 Miami Heat? ‘Yes. Best team,’ O’Neal repeated. ‘As far as players….as far as guys being really close…I know we’ve only been at this for two months, but hopefully the outcome to be a good one.’”

I’m just enjoying every game at the moment we’re winning. The big green liability is winning over the heat. Kobe is looking forward to june!

Estoy disfrutando de cada juego en este momento estamos ganando. La responsabilidad es grande y verde ganarse el calor. Kobe está a la espera de junio!

In all fairness he did say they are the best team when it come to personalities and “as far as guys being really close”….That doesn’t mean he thinks it’s the best team ‘skill wise’ that he has been on’…

I feel like all the haters in this mess are just sad because shaq may have finally found a team he’s comfortable with. And its no longer LA.He was a great player in his prime, now he wants to go out with a bang. what’s the matter with that?

EJ and riggs said some of the only smart comments in this post. c’mon, even IAMORANGE4EVER know what’s up and he’s a Knicks fan. @ dfortruth: the only people who think that shaq rode on kobe’s back and not the other way around are blinded by mamba love. those of us who are not huge fans of either know that shaq is the real reason for those LA championships. yeah, kobe definitely contributed, but he didn’t lead that sh*t. what were those finals MVPs for? those were all a mistake? please.

The question as to whether the Lakers will retire the big F-R-O-N-T-R-U-N-N-E-R’s jersey is predicated on two things:
    1. Which team he chooses to go into the HOF on.
    2. Whether or not Kobe & Gasol win more than 3 chips together.

If he does go in as a Laker that ensures Kobe will have TWO jerseys retired (8 & 24). “Tell me how THAT one-up taste” big F-R-O-N-T-R-U-N-N-E-R.

There’s a reason Shaq only has 1 regular season MVP- he played with KOBE.

And for all of you knuckleheads that were too young to remember or too dumb to look it up- yes the big F-R-O-N-T-R-U-N-N-E-R was the “man” during the FIRST ‘chip:

YET Kobe averaged 28ppg 5.3apg 6.5rpg during the playoffs the last TWO CHAMPIONSHIPS of their 3peat.

FYI- DWADE averaged 28ppg 5.7asst 5.9rpg during the playoffs in ’06. And everyone with eyes know he WON the chip for the big F-R-O-N-T-R-U-N-N-E-R’s fat a$$.

So NO, SHAQ wouldn’t have won a ring(s) with just ANY all-star wing player during the 3peat. Stop with the historical inaccuracies and intellectual dishonesty.

FACE reality or just HATE IT…or just keep drinking the SHAQTUS juice and the half-time Heinsohns.

I love Shaq, but he is getting old, senile, he doesn’t know what he is talking about. Sad, very sad.

Yeah…Shaq “only” has 4 rings. And Show-be Bryant would only have TWO if Shaq didn’t carry his sorry *ss back in the early 2000′s. Show-be is the greatest though…the greatest Michael Jordan wannabe to ever play.
