Trending Topics: New Orleans Hornets

Are they for real?

by Jonathan Santiago / @ITSjonsantiago

Trending Topics briefly takes a look at a couple stories comHornetsing from inside NBA locker rooms.

At 11-1, the New Orleans Hornets right now are tied for the best record in the NBA. After 12 games last season, the Hornets stood at 4-8 amidst a head coaching firing and a clearly disjointed team. This year with a number of new players in the mix, everything has clicked. Rookie Head Coach Monty Williams is preaching defense and his players are buying in, holding opponents to a League best 42.5 percent shooting from the field. They also round out the top five in NBA point differential, outscoring opponents on average by 7.1 points per game.

Truthfully, I can’t tell if they’re for real. I’m leaning towards, not, though.
As in, they won’t contend. But I’m happy for them.

And then we lost to the Clippers. LOL Too early to tell if this current squad can make a deep run in the playoffs but as a fan, I biasedly (no such word) bee-lieve that they will win the championship this year.
