Brandon Roy Shut Down ‘Indefinitely’

Roy’s injury-plagued season took another turn for the worse, as the Blazers have elected to shut him down for the foreseeable future. The Oregonian has the details: “Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy will be sidelined indefinitely because of soreness in both knees, general manager Rich Cho said. ‘I can tell you it will most likely be for an extended period,’ Cho said. Cho said the team has discussed shutting down Roy for the season, but they are not ready to go that route yet. ‘We’ve talked about (ending his season) and it’s a possibility, but we want to explore a couple of other things first,’ Cho said. Cho said the team is still in the information-gathering stages of those other options, but he hopes to have more answers and a direction by next week.”

they seem to be doing better without him

  • marc

Are they going to trade him?

  • beequal

30 pts from Wes Matthews in his spot last night. I think this might be a better team without him, as long as they keep Andre Miller around.

If BR was healthy, no way are they better without him. They’re only one game over .500. Wtf are you guys thinking?

@davidR hindsight is 20/20. While he was a solid player for Utah, he didn’t really show signs of being a consistent 20 point scorer so they let him walk.

I think the GM should rest Roy the rest of the season. Why risk further injury?

    He’s done like Donkey Kong.

And when are the blazers medical staff going to be shut down?

Such a good player to let him see go down like this hopefully he can recover.

    @brahsef
well, BR isn’t healthy, and when he is, he requires handling the ball to be his most effective, which is why I said Wes Matthews is a better fit alongside Dre Miller.

    WES MONEY!!!!!!!!!is the replacement

Awww, get well soon Brandon. It’s a shame… Blazers and Rockets are going through the exact same difficulties right now.

  • Cameron Jones

Man when are the gonna do something about the medical staff. First Oden goes down then last year the whole team was on the IR, Oden is down again and B. Roy has been replaced by the ghost of Penny Hardaway. At some point some new trainers might be necessery in the Pacific Northwest.

worst part about this is, this is the first year of his MAXIMUM extension. yikes. good luck BRoy. hopefully he fully recovers, otherwise we’re looking at Grant Hill 2.0

    Cameron Jones makes interesting points.
    Darius Miles.
    Roy.
    Oden.
Joel Pryzbilla’s injury was a 1 in a million, type deal.
    Bill Walton.
    Sam Bowie.

  • Will Lee

NBA is much more interesting without injury. It sucks for Yao, BRoy and KG.

  • Stepfan

It’s a shame but it seems his career is over.

  • dsleepy

that’s definitely an interesting list. but i’m not sure you can blame oden on the staff.
