Cavs Looking to Trade Antawn Jamison?

Jamison’s game has fallen off a cliff — he’s putting up the worst minutes since his rookie season — and according to the local press, the Cleveland Cavaliers would like for someone to take him and his contract off their hands. Preferably, sooner rather than later. From the News-Herald: “Jamison, 34, said he’s made no trade demands. Sources around the league think it’s only a matter of time before the Cavs start shopping his services. ‘I just want to play,’ he said. ‘I know I have a lot left in the tank. I’m going to say if this situation comes up, no matter where I play, I’m going to compete. You also want to get the opportunity of show the team what you’re capable of doing. I’m not going to say I’m going to play well to increase my value in a trade. That’s never been my mind frame. I’ll play hard and let the chips fall where they may.’ Jamison came to the Cavs (7-12) from the Washington Wizards at last season’s trade deadline. Everyone thought he was the final piece to the championship puzzle. Of course, the Boston Celtics didn’t get the memo and upset the Cavs in the Eastern Conference semifinals. That collapse cost Coach Mike Brown his job. The dread didn’t end there for Jamison, who went through some personal issues in the offseason. ‘It’s been a tough year,’ he said. ‘I can’t wait for 2010 to be over. Just with a lot of personal stuff and basketball-wise, it’s been a tough year. Going through what I went through last year in Washington and even coming here and coming up short, it’s been tough.’”

“Everyone thought he was the final piece to the championship puzzle”

    Eh?

This should be a surprise to no one. In fact, trade mo williams while you’re at it cleveland… rid yourselves of the chokers. rid yourselves of the overpaid underachieving players. without lebron, mo and jamison are essentially useless in the grand scheme of things.

whoa hold the hell on now, antawn was holding the wiz down when gil was out and it was just him and tough juice, the problem last year was that they didnt know how to use him. the problem this year is that they still dont.

  • hiphopcop

Sasha and Luke for Jamison!!! Do it now Mitch!

  • MikeC.

He’d be a good fit on a team like the Thunder or Jazz who are loaded with youth and need that elder statesman that can still actually play. Those teams also run systems that would use Jamison well.

WB30, I’m a Sixer fan, but they are nowhere near a contender. We have a lot of redundant players that we can get rid of with no real impact to our win-loss ratio. Jamison is not needed on this team.

@Fat Lever, thank you for saying that.
Jamison’s contract combined with his lack of defensive prowess makes him a toxic asset to any contender (no matter how nice of a guy he is)

I think he would be great with Phoenix. Maybe a trade for Hedo Turkoglu would work? And I think Phoenix needs a better big anyways

  • T-Money

riggs – the problem was more that doc instantly recognized that twan couldn’t guard kg on the block to save his life. he said before the series that their goal was to get kg 20 shots a game.

OKC STAND UP AND GET THIS DUDE. or NO david west needs a BACKUP

Thuner, Jazz or Nugget would be good places for him. They have systems that fit him and are teams that need the additional/immediate help if they want to beat the Lakers. Not saying he alone is the answer, but he would definitely improve their chances. He does carry a big contract with him, but, there only two years remaining, making it not seem so bad. The real question is who/what do the Cavs get in return, they need a wing and could use a ‘real’ center (Andy V is a PF really). Maybe even a team like Portland could use him and give up Oden and a draft pick. Oden is perpetually injured and doesn’t have much value but IF he got healthy he’d be a fit anywhere and throw in a draft pick Cleveland gets what they want – even more cap space, another pick for the rebuilding process and a ‘potential’ big.

@Jacob J — Sorry, but PHX do not need another 3balling SF to play out of position at PF… If PHX can take Andy V and Jamison for Warrick and Hedo then maybe thats a deal.

THE REAL QUESTION IS WHATS HAPPENED TO JASON RICHARDSON???

  • C-Mac

He would fit nicely playing alongside Timmy D in SA

Who wants that corky shot of Jamison? he’s a good role player off the bench

  • http://slamonline.com tealish

@Dacre – J Rich is balling this year. Two bad games. That’s it. Guy is shooting at over 48% and 45% from deep.

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

Tealish – Thats what I want to know about. Dude is having a beautifully efficient season, but those 2 most recent games worry me…. Lopez is down, Warrick isn’t any better at rebounding then STAT was and the two headed monster of hedo and Josh Childress needs to come to it’s swift end. Suns need career seasons from Nash, Richardson and Channing Frye to get to the playoffs this year.

  • robz

juz freakin stay n cleaveland dude or go to charlotte

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

I like the thought of him in Utah.. Start him at the 3, and bring AK47 off the bench..

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

I’m not expecting any good players in exchange for Twan. If it is for a salary dump, I’d be happy. He’s a great player and I don’t hate him. But my Cavs are rebuilding and he’s certainly not going to be a part of the future unfortunately. Hope we could trade him to a playoff/contender team though.

  • CRUS-T jalepino included

who cares the guy’s a (Pollitically Unrested Stabalised Society Yes) trapped in a 6.10′ body. nobody seen N.W.H. … In the house ? Booty Juice , thats what Cavs are oozing right now for their hate. STRAIGHT FROM THE SOURCE !!!! THE ASS OF COURSE !!!

  • Tyquez

    trade him to newyork knicks

  • MikeC.

^^No thank you. His offensive skills fit the system, but we’d have to trade half the team to match up his contract.

  • justin

Jamison to Phoenix or Lakers would be great
